Yknow what I LOVE about the Star Trek fandom? It’s ANCIENT. I had a talk with a nice old lady at the old persons home that my great grandma is in and she noticed my Spock shirt and was like “oh I love that show I thought the premise was lovely” and you all know THE PREMISE is trekspeak for spirk and I was like “do you accept the premise because I do” and she looked at me with the eyes of someone who is reliving their otp moments and she said “the premise is all I wrote about, dear” and we just talked about spirk for a hella long time and I just love how age doesn’t matter in this fandom you can be ninety and still be the biggest spirk bitch ever how rad is that

Thought I'd do a quick post explaining how i go about making whumplists!

Everything on my lists are representative of whump tropes, no matter how big/small the moment is or how long the moment lasts. This is why even if a scene is short, it could have a few tropes listed for it.

For example, most of the time if a character is shot, there are more whump tropes (like "semi-conscious" or "struggling to breathe") in that moment then just the character being shot.

I also don't just list physical whump! I go off of the main three types of whump: physical, emotional, and psychological. There are MANY different tropes under this that can be considered whump.

Personally, I write my lists this way because I find it interesting to track how many whump tropes are in a show, and to be able to reference specific scenes if I want to write whump myself!

Everyone who is a list maker or is in the whump community has their own way of doing things, and their own preferences/opinions, these are just mine!

i think the reason so many people in other fandoms will say stuff like “___ is the new november 5th” is that they make the mistake of believing that november 5th was a single day of fandom chaos when in actuality november 5th was a years-long manic state of collectively experienced hysteria that included a vast web of intersecting episodes, scenes, translations of episodes, script drops, actors/writers/translators/etc, multiple fan weddings, anniversaries, cons clips, tweets, articles, a 12 year long history of theories and lore, a boom in fan content so large it broke AO3 records, and countless other things from days of the week to jewelry. nothing has ever or will ever come close to being november 5th.
