Anon is really attacking you over choosing your mental health over someone possibly losing a mutual. You were never outright friends with the person you blocked. It shouldn't have gotten that personal. It was a disagreement, not the end of the world. That ex-moot has a lot of friends. They shouldn't worry about losing one moot who feels uncomfortable with seeing certain posts. It's not like you two will ever meet in person. There are bigger things going on in America and all over the world for the anons to be worrying about you protecting your mental health. Right now, in office, there's an actual misogynist trying to take away women's rights.

You're just trying to protect your identity from posts that made you uncomfortable. That's different than what Trump is planning. You're just trying to live your life. Keep living it. I don't know who said men should die tho. I think I know the exmutual you mean and they didn't say that. They said men shouldn't have opinions about women.

I know that. I'm not saying your friend/the ex mutual said all men should die. I'm saying I was tired to see that kind of posts going around (including "men shouldn't have opinions, men should choke, men should-" the kind of posts. in general.), especially without context.

maybe it's obvious to some people that when others reblog/say that, they don't mean you personally or all the masc-aligned/identifying people around them. but it's not the case for everyone. I did what I felt I had to do to protect my own mental health.

I'm pretty sure the definition of transmasculinity I apply to myself makes my feelings valid, just like the people calling themselves transfem gays or transmasc lesbians' feelings are valid (for example).

I'm not trying to police other people's identities and shove them in a box to fit my point and neither should you. I'm a transmasc person who feels unsafe around the whole "all men should die" mentality. I'm a stranger on the internet. at the end of the day, my opinion and gender identity won't have any influence on your life. you're wasting your time.

you know, anon. I don't have the ask anymore but I was browsing a completely unrelated tag today and I saw one of those "I believe it should be legal to kill men." posts with nothing but the tag I'd typed and a bonus #I hate men.

and sure, maybe op meant men who had wronged them, men who make them feel unsafe, cis white rich neurotypical misogynists, etc.

but when you see this over and over again and you're already struggling with your gender identity, already trying to survive the voices in your head saying you should just relapse and kys, already feeling unsafe as a trans person in general, already wondering if transitioning will turn you into one of the pigs who assaulted you... it doesn't exactly do good for your mental health.

this whole thing started because I 1. blocked someone, 2. used a tag that was misinterpreted, 3. dared to vent on my personal sideblog about feeling unsafe as a trans person and 4. used words that I learned about long after the harm was done.

so yeah. some people say all men should die, all men should shut up, men shouldn't have rights or opinions, etc. and honestly? if you mean abusers of all kinds, fuck yes, I agree. death to the abusers 100%.

but without context, it hurts just as much as making self deprecating jokes all the time. the more you say something, the more you read something, the most likely you are to believe it.

when transmascs read that all men are disgusting pigs and should die, it does make them feel awful. I don't think that makes them misogynists and I don't think it means they're just another misandrist or whatever word means the same.

I'm p sure you expected me to name drop ex mutuals but no. ex mutuals blogs just made me uncomfortable after already seeing this around way too many times. I chose to block and move on instead of toughing it out and potentially relapsing. I think it's an understandable choice, and to be completely honest, I don't think I even need to justify myself when it comes to blocking others. we all have our reasons. sometimes it's not personal.
