I really think we should stop saying "kid-friendly" and start saying "ad-friendly". We shouldn't indulge these companies and their excuses anymore. I also think that continuing to pretend that this is about "protecting the children" pushes a lot of the blame onto kids and teens, who don't have the political power to push through any of this censorship legislature. Corporations and governments are to blame.

Selkie was definitely the inspiration for my Space Werewolves. In low light her eyes had a way of shining out of her black fur that gave me goosebumps, she was a beautiful inky black shuck devil dog and I loved her so much. I captured her shapes in my Space Werewolf sculpture , exaggerated and simplified with the same reflective round dots for eyes. Peaceful and inquisitive. I like to think she's out there like her Space Werewolf brethren , howling and maybe chasing space rats...

Art comes from somewhere personal which is probably why I draw firm boundaries with input. My work is mine and it's not passed through a committee or poll or engagement baiting pleas for opinion. It's especially important to me to be firm with the rise of certain apps that treat art like a cheap jukebox and more artists feeling the sting of disrespect and contempt.

Beds of clams, mats of bacteria that look like ice and fields of tube worms - these are just some examples of the strange, extreme life that an expedition to the deepest parts of the ocean has observed, filmed and photographed. Diving in a human-occupied submersible to ocean trenches in the northwest Pacific Ocean, a Chinese-led research team captured pictures of life at depths of more than 9km (5.6miles). The deepest marine vertebrate life filmed before this expedition was at 8,336m - a snailfish that was filmed swimming in a deep ocean trench off the coast of Japan in 2023. These new observations are published in the journal Nature.
