Impossible - Chapter Seven
Jared Padalecki x Reader
Warnings: Angst, Fluff
Word Count: 4,158
We sat there in silence for what felt like an eternity but was probably only a couple of minutes.
Why was I feeling so ashamed? I didn't have to be ashamed around him. I barely knew him and the little that I did know, was the cause of my bad day. I shouldn't care what he thinks. But for some reason, I do care.
"What are their names?" He finally said something. I looked up at him to see him looking right back at me. I gave him a half smile.
"Um, Camden and Matthew." I said just above a whisper. I now was completely regretting telling him. I knew he was probably going to ask more questions about them.
He smiled slightly, "I like those names, which one is older?" He was just making conversation but I was so uncomfortable talking about this.
"Well Camden, she is almost four and Matthew is almost three." I looked up at him, and waited for his reaction. He smiled bigger first and then the smile disappeared completely.
"Um, I don't mean to pry but can I ask you a more personal question?" He just looked at me waiting for a reaction. I simply nodded.
"Do you have a boyfriend, or married or something. I mean, it's okay if you do but I don't want to get you in trouble with anyone." I sighed.
"No, I'm not married and I don't have a boyfriend. Their father is not involved in either of their lives." It was weird how much information I was just freely passing unto him. At least I know now that I won't have to worry about Jared bothering me again. After tonight, I will never see him again. He probably thinks I am slut.
"Oh, I see." He said smiling again. Silence fell between us and I just wished that the waitress would come back so we could order our food and get closer to getting home and away from this awkward situation.
Jared looked like he was about to say something but was interrupted when a waiter practically ran into our table.
I looked up and froze at who I saw.
"Good evening, my name's Spencer and I am your server. Have you decided on what you would like?â He first looked at Jared.
Jared looked at me, "Ladies first."
The waiter looked over at me for the first time and I looked up at him. Our eyes met and I could see his entire attitude change. He smirked.
"Y/n/n? Well fancy meeting you here. How've you been? Are you dating again?" He asked eyeing Jared.
Jared looked confused.
I looked away from Spencer knowing that my face was tomato red. I stared and studied my hands.
"I, uh..." I didn't know what to say but I didn't get a chance to answer.
"Yes, she is on a date and I have no idea what that has to do with the fact that you have not taken our orders." Jared interrupted causing both Spencer and I to look at him with wide eyes.
Spencer chuckled to himself. "Whoa there fella, I was just trying to catch up. I used to be kinda close to this catch, if you know what I mean." He said 'this catch' while pointing at me.
I didn't say a word, I just looked down again. I was totally humiliated. I know that I was still upset at Jared for what he had done today but I couldn't even begin to describe how embarrassed I felt watching this happen.
"Well, I can see why you are not close anymore if you compare being with a woman to catching a fish." Jared spat.
I looked up at Jared+ and wondered why he was defending me. He really doesn't know anything about me, except for that fact that he has questions about the darkest time in my life. I just kept quiet while I waited to see what was going to happen.
Spencer's eyes narrowed and I could see that familiar look. He was getting angry and that is definitely not a good thing.
He opened his mouth to probably tell Jared to âfuck offâ but was cut off by Jared, "I think it is time for you to do your job and take our orders, or am I going to have to go talk to your manager?" Jared stated with authority.
Spencer seemed to realize what his current position was and his face went from angry to bored.
"Fine, whatever. What'ya gonna get." He said trying to seem bored, but could tell that he felt defeated. He knew that there was nothing he could say while he was working.
"Like I said, Ladies first." Jared said and both of their attentions turned back to me.
I was still frozen in place. It was like I had forgotten how to talk.
"Well, come on. If you hadn't noticed, it's really busy and I haven't gotten all night." Spencer snapped.
"I, uh. I want the seasoned chicken with vegetables." I said not making eye contact with him.
Spencer scribbled it down and turned to Jared.
Spencer just gave him a look that said if we were anywhere else, he would have punched him.
Jared smiled, "I will have the 6oz steak, please."
Spencer scribbled it down and looked back up at Jared waiting for him to say more, but when Jared didn't say anything, he sighed and spoke up.
"How do you want it cooked?" Spencer asked obviously annoyed.
Jared smirked, "Medium well, please."
Spencer didn't say a thing as he collected our menus and turned to walk away.
I watched as he stepped away and then turned around and smirked at me. It was not a good smirk. I knew he was planning something. Jared interrupted my thoughts, "Who was that? How does he know you?"
I looked at Jared. He looked like he was generally concerned.
I sighed looking in the same direction that Spencer has just walked away from us. I didn't want to talk about it, and in all honesty, I wanted to get out of here. I wanted to go as far away from this place as I could. I was starting to break down. I was no longer mad at Jared for what he had done to me earlier. All I cared about now was not wanting to remember what had happened so long ago. I remained quiet trying to arrange the words that would help me describe how much I wanted to leave, with out hurting Jared's feelings.
After a few minutes of me ignoring Jared's question, Jared cleared his throat, making me look up at him. He had concern written all over his face. "Are you okay?" He asked staring right into my eyes.
I couldn't look away and I just couldn't lie. "Honestly," my voice was so shaky "I'm not okay. I don't want to be rude, but if it's okay with you, I'd like to go now."
Jared looked slightly hurt but nodded as he began to get up. He obviously knew something was wrong and didn't want to make me feel uncomfortable, which surprised me. Most guys wouldnât have cared about how I was feeling, they would have wanted to stay and eat and ignore my issues.
He went first and I followed him through the crowd and out to the parking lot.
Jared helped me get in and soon followed by getting in himself. He didn't start the car though, he just sat there for a minute before looking over at me.
"I know that you are upset by what happened, but do you want to go home, or did you just want to leave this particular restaurant?" Jared asked seeming like he was scared of how I would react to his question.
I had no idea how to answer his question. It had been such a long time since I had seen Spencer and it still hurt to see him. It brought me right back to that time. It honestly felt like I had open wounds; like a never ending bleed. I felt like running away from everything. Spencer, Jared, my job... but then, all I pictured was my kids. Those beautiful faces and how sweet and innocent they are. I love them so much. They are the reason why I work so hard. I need the money and the insurance from them. All I want to do right now is be with them.
I sighed remembering Jared's question. "Look, I've had a long day. I know that you wanted to go out and eat, but if it's okay with you, I would really like it if you could bring me home now." I didn't even look at Jared as I said this. I could audibly hear him sigh.
I heard Jared start his car, but then was quickly startled by Jared's response. "No!"
I was forced to look up at him. I raised an eyebrow. Was he serious?
"What?" I asked.
He put both hands on the steering wheel and turned towards me.
"I said no. I am not going to bring you home just yet." he replied. Typical, every guy needs to be in control and have everything go their way.Â
This time is different though. Something snapped and anger suddenly rose up inside of me. I couldn't help it. All of the frustration and this emotional roller-coaster that today has brought me through, it all just bubbled up and burst out at this moment.
"You can't be serious. I am exhausted. I worked my butt off to serve you hand and foot after you messed up everything for me at work, and then you practically force me to go out with you when I clearly had no interest. You finally pick a restaurant and our waiter just so happens to be my abusive ex-husband who left me after he realized he didn't want a family anymore. He left me to deal with our children alone. I've told you personal things about myself that you had no right to know and now all I want is for you to take me home so I can relax after the worst day ever. Do you have enough decency in you to respect that?!" I yelled. I was on the verge of tears. I was fuming mad but I was an emotional wreck.
He looked taken aback but then his face changed back.
He never looked away; he just kept his gaze on me.
"Y/n, I don't know what is going on in your life. You're right. I barely know you, and I didn't deserve for you to tell me everything that you did. I am so sorry for all of the damage that I caused today. But, I know that I cannot take you back home right now."
"Oh, and why's that?" I snapped.
He had a sideways smile, "Because I know exactly what you need."
"And what is it that I need?"
"You'll see." He said as he put the car in gear and began to drive.
I had been trying to convince him for about ten minutes that he was practically kidnapping me. He just smiled and shushed me.
I gave up trying to get him to bring me home after a while because it just made me more tired and it was just easier to give in.
After a moment of my silence he reached toward the radio and said, "Perfect! I was waiting for you to calm down so that I could do this." He turned up the volume and the very opposite of what I expected to hear came pouring out of the speakers. It was classical music.
I looked at him and was about to open my mouth when he interrupted me, "Ah, no. Shush! The more quiet you are, the faster this will be over. I promise." He turned towards me as he said, âI promiseâ. I sighed and rested back on my chair.
I looked out the window and couldn't figure out where I was. But all I could see were the beautiful leaves. It's getting to be the prime time in autumn and the leaves are beginning to change. It was so beautiful. I just stared out the window mesmerized by the natural beauty of the season.
Before I realized what was happening, Jared pulled into a drive-thru. It was a place I had never heard of. It was called Tracy's Beanery. He stuck his head out the window and ordered something. I couldn't hear what he said. He didn't ask me if I wanted anything. I was getting aggravated as he pulled up to the window to pay. They took his money, handed him the change and the gave him two hot drink cups. He said a thank you as he drove away. Before we left the parking lot, he pulled quickly into a parking space and put the car in park.
He handed me one of the cups and said, "Alright, this is what is going on. I want you to sit back and relax. I don't know a lot about you but I do know that everyone needs to take a break now and then. You need just a few minutes of peace. And I know that if I took you home right now, that is not what you would get. Drink this. It is hot apple cider. Tonight is a beautiful night. You can enjoy the ride as we see all of the beautiful leaves and listen to some relaxing music. You don't even have to talk. Just give me an hour. One hour and then you can go home. I promise." He raised his hand like was saying 'scouts honor' as he promised.
He was right. If he brought me home right now, the kids would be crazy and it would be impossible for me to get them settled but if I waited a little longer then Riley would have already put them both to bed. And I do love apple cider...
I looked down in my lap defeated. I guess it kinda would be nice to not have to do anything at all.
"Fine," I sighed, "But only for one hour." I stated. Jared's face lit up.
"Good." He said as he turned the music up just a little and began to drive.
We had driven around for fifteen minutes and I was completely relaxed. I never really knew how nice it was to listen to classical music. I never really even thought about it before, it wasn't my thing but all I knew is that it was nice. The apple cider was so good, too. I was almost done with mine. They must have made it right there at the cafe. And all that mixed with the smooth drive and the beautiful weather, I was out of my element. I honestly had never felt so relaxed in my entire life.
I almost forgot that Jared was there until I felt his hand touch mine. I looked at him. His hand was still on mine. It wasn't an accident. He had reached over on purpose.
"Is that okay?" he asked as he continued to drive along the road.
I didn't feel like he was trying to make a move on me. It really felt like he cared. Like he was holding my hand to let me know that I wasn't alone. It was more of a friendly gesture than a romantic one. And for some reason, I was okay with it.
I responded with soft, 'Yeah' and he held my hand a little tighter. And we continued to drive with the only sound being the music from the radio.
It was actually nice. I can't believe how much I was enjoying myself. It was all so simple. A car ride, leaves, apple cider, a hand-hold but it felt like medicine. Like it was taking away everything that had made me sick. It was melting away stress and allowing me to relax far better than I have before.
But all too quickly the hour was up and I looked around outside the window and realized where we were. We were back at work. How he managed that, I'll never know.
He let go of my hand to put the car in park. And then just sat back and looked out his window.
After a few moments of silence I decided to break it. I mumbled a quick "thank you."
He turned back towards me with a soft smile. "You're welcome! I hope you were able to relax just a little."
"I did. I don't know how I went from furious to depressed to furious and then to content, but it was really nice. Even though you had to kidnap me to get me to do it."
He had a playful smirk. "I didn't actually kidnap you. You didn't have to take me up on my offer but I'm glad you did." His smile was contagious and just made me smile back at him. But it quickly faded when I realized that I had to get home to the kids and then, get myself to bed so that I could rest up enough to be able to work tomorrow.
"Um, thank you for this. It was really nice but I should be getting home now." I said hoping that he would understand.
His face was calm and understanding.
"Okay, just tell me which way to go." he said as he pulled out of the parking lot.
We arrived at my apartment building and he parked the car. Then he jumped out and ran over to my door and opened it for me. I thanked him and he nodded.
He walked me to the door to the building.
"Y/n, I really enjoyed spending time with you. I hope that we will see each other again very soon. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your night." he said with another winning smile.
"Thank you for insisting that I stick around for that drive. It really was relaxing and exactly what I needed. It definitely balanced out the bad day." We both smiled.
"Well good, I'm glad." He said. "Go get some rest." He opened the door for me.
"Thank you, I will." I said as I began to walk through.
As I stepped in I felt Jared gently grab my wrist.
âWait,â he said as I turned back around. He was standing, or should I say towering over me. His face was soft and he had a hopeful look on his face.Â
âYeah?â I said confused as to why he stopped me.
He cleared his throat, âI canât pretend to understand anything that youâre going through but I can tell you that I know what it feels like to have to fight a battle on your own. Thatâs why I pushed to have you stay with me for the ride because I knew that sometimes just doing something simple to distract yourself can bring rest in a lot of different ways.â He paused waiting for my reaction.
I was overwhelmed with his compassion and also very curious to hear about his struggles as well. I didnât know what to say, I simply nodded.
He took that as a good sign and continued, âI can tell that youâve had to face a lot of things by yourself and your very strong. I was an honor getting to spend time with you today and I hope we can do it again soon.â He smiled.
I returned the smile. âI don't think Iâve ever changed my mind about someone so drastically and so quickly then I did today. You started off as one of my worst clients but then you were there for me in ways that I didnât even know I needed. I didn't want to go out with you but I owe you one after what you did for me today.â
Jaredâs eyes got playfully wide, âI don't think so, I think Iâll be making it up to you for a long time. Some men still donât know how to act when they see a girl the like. I made a fool of myself today.â I chuckled.
âEh, letâs call it even.â I smiled. Jared smiled a smile that was practically glowing.
âIâll take that deal.â He said as he held his hand out for me to shake. As our hands connected and shook up and down, he didnât let go of my hand.Â
His smile faded into a more serious face. His eyes locked on mine.
I was a little nervous until his eyes quickly glanced down to my lips. He slowly leaned in and waited for me to make any kind of response. I haven't even known him for more than a few hours but I had already been through a rollercoaster of emotions. I gave into the moment and stepped in closer to him.
That was all Jared needed. His lips came crashing down onto mine. It was a strong kiss but not forceful. It couldnât believe the sensation that ran through my entire body. It was like I had been plugged in or I was finally awake after being in a coma. I had never felt anything like it before. Our lips came apart and Jared smiled down at me. I mirrored his smile back up to him.
He slipped his hand into his jacket pocket. He pulled out a business card and handed it to me.Â
âHere, this is my business card. I use the information for work.â He smirked. âWhat most people donât know is that Iâm too lazy to have two accounts for everything, so that is my personal cell number.â I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. He lightly chuckled at my reaction. âFeel free to text or call me whenever. Iâm not going to ask for your number. I feel like Iâve forced you to do enough stuff for one day.â He laughed. âTake as long as you want in reaching out to me, if that is something youâd like to do. Just know that I will be waiting by my phone like every teenage girl in every 80s movie for you to contact me.â He smiled dramatically at me. I laughed at his dramatics which made him flash a real smile down at me.
âThank you. Iâm surprised by how today has turned out but I plan on giving you a call. I just may make you sweat it out for a day or two first.â I giggled mischievously. His pouted his lips and made puppy dog eyes at me. I laughed a little more at his reaction until he perked up.
âYou may make me wait but you did say you would call. Thatâs good enough for me.â He said with a new found spark. I shook my head at his antics.
âWell, I should get inside and relieve Riley from babysitting.â I said as I yawned.
Jared nodded and made a half smile at me as I yawned. âYeah and you need some rest after a day like today.â He said as he stepped back to clear the path in to the door.
âYeah, thanks again for tonight.â I said as I stepped inside.Â
"Thank you for giving me a very undeserved chance. Goodnight, Y/n. Sleep well and don't forget to call!" He said as he waved.
"I wonât. Goodnight, Jared." I said as I waved back and closed the door. He walked back to his car and then drove away.
As I got in the elevator, I was able to unwind the events of the day.
I started off overwhelmed by the busyness of work then went to being angry at Jared to finally ending in being thankful to him. I don't know how all of those emotions can take a hold in one day but I do know that it was a good day after all. Now, I am exhausted and can actually hear my bed calling my name.
I got to my apartment on the fourth floor. Riley was watching a show on the couch.
"They're both already asleep, and you need to tell me every little thing that happened in the last few hours but tell me tomorrow cause I'm about to pass out." She said as she got up, grabbed her purse and hugged me as she walked out the door.
"Night, Ry. Thanks for everything."
"No problen. Night, Y/n" She said as she walked away to the elevator.
I closed the door and locked it.
I quickly checked on my sleeping beauties and then made my way to my own bed.
All I know is that even after an impossible day filled with impossible people, I am going to get a good night of sleep tonight and maybe Iâll call Jared tomorrow.

Impossible - Chapter Six
Jared Padalecki x Reader
Warnings: Secrets (not really a warning)
Word Count: 1,288
Jared and I walked back towards the kitchen doors so that I could punch out. After I punched out, I followed Jared through the halls and out the main entrance of the building. I normally walk out the back of the kitchen to the employee parking, so it is really unusual for me to walk out the main entrance.
It was really awkward because Jared wasnât saying anything and I was just following him through the parking lot.
âWhat about everyone else that you were with? Didnât you all come together?â I asked wondering where they all had gone.
âWe took two cars, we had one too many people to fit in only one car, so we split ourselves between the two cars, and well since Iâm not going with them, they all went in one car.â He explained the not so exciting story.
âOhâ was all I could say.
We walked through a few rows of cars until we got to what I guess was his car. He walked around to the passenger door and unlocked it and then opened it.
âHere you go, have a seat and try to relax after a hard days workâ he said as he held out his hand for me to hold as he helped me climb in the car.
âHa, thanksâ I said sarcastically as he closed the door and walked around to the drivers side.
I pulled on my seat belt as he climbed in and did the same. He put the key in the ignition and started the car.
âWell Y/n, what would you like to do. Are you hungry?â he asked.
âUm, even if I was hungry, you just finished eating so why would you want to go out again.â
âWell, I honestly didnât eat a lot because I was so upset about what I had done. Plus Iâm never full, everyone calls me the bottomless pit.â He said it like he was proud of it.
âUh-huh, good to know. Then Yeah, I guess I could eat.â
âAlright, well where do you like to go?â
âI honestly donât care. Iâm not a picky eater.â I said just wanting to get this thing started.
âOkay, well how about I drive around until we find a place?â
âYeah. Fine.â
With that he pulled away and started down the road.
We had been driving for a little while in silence. We had only passed a few fast food places but he said he didnât like that idea of going to one of those.
We drove for about ten more minutes and came across a steakhouse.
âDo you want to go there?â he asked.
âSure, thatâs fine.â I said, desperately wanting for this to end.
He pulled into a spot and hopped out before I could even get my seat belt off. I thought he was crazy until I realized he had walked over to my door and opened it for me.
He had a big goofy smile on his face as he helped be down out of the car.
âUh, thanks.â I said as he shut the door.
âOf course. May I escort you inside?â he asked as he held out his elbow towards me.
I simply nodded as I held his arm as we walked into the restaurant.
We walked in and could see that it was really crowded. There were at least fifteen people waiting to be seated. We walked right up to the hostess. She was busy marking up her seating chart.
âHow many?â She asked without even looking up at us.
âTwoâ Jared responded. She scribbled something on her chart then looked up at us.
âRight this way, please.â She said as she picked up some menus and walked through the maze of tables.
She brought us to a booth in the back of the restaurant and laid our menus on the table.
âYour server will be right with you.â She said as she made her way back through the maze to the front of the restaurant.
âGet whatever you want.â Jared said as he started looking over his menu.
âOh, thanks, but I can cover myself.
He scrunched his eyebrows.
"No, absolutely not. First of all, I have to make up to you for how I acted earlier and second, I invited you so that means I pay.â He said matter-of-factly.
âWell, I honestly donât like it when someone else pays for me.â I said trying to convince him to let me pay.
âSorry, you are just going to have to learn to like it.â He said as he looked back down at his menu.
âUm, okayâ I said as I opened my menu. I felt like I was getting whip lash from all of the different personalities I was getting to see from Jared today. He was making my head spin.
I looked over the menu too and noticed the prices immediately. It was really expensive here.
âAre you sure?â I looked up at him.
He gave me a reassuring smile.
âPositive, anything you want.â
âAlrightâ I said as I still looked for the cheapest thing on the menu.
I know he was horrible to me before but Iâm not going to act like a total creep and get something really expensive. I mean, I know how precious my hard earned money is; I wouldnât dare overspend someone elseâs hard earned money.
A waitress hurried to our table and was practically out of breath.
âHi, Iâm Jamie. I am not your server. Your server is overloaded with tables so, I will be helping you through out the night as well. I will take your drink orders and later he will take your food orders.â She said all in one breath. She took out her pad and pen and waited for us to answer.
Jared spoke first.
âI will have an iced tea, please.â She quickly wrote that down and then looked over at me.
âI will just have a water with no lemon, please.â She nodded and mumbled that sheâd be right back and scurried away.
This place was packed with people and they were obviously under-staffed.
I can definitely feel the pain that the servers are going through right now.
Jared shook me from my thoughts.
âSo, do you know what you want to get?â
âOh, um. No not yet. Do you?â
âYeah, I think Iâm going to get a steak. After all, we are at a steakhouse.â he chuckled to himself.
I laughed slightly even though I didnât think it was funny at all.
I decided to have the seasoned chicken. It wasnât the most expensive thing on the menu and it wasnât the cheapest so, I felt that it was safe choice.
It was taking a while for our drinks to come back, so Jared started some small talk, or so he thought.
âSo, what responsibilities do you have that your friend took care of for you?â
I stared at him.
Should I tell him the truth. I mean, it will probably make him back off and leave me alone if I do. But, I also donât like the way people judge me when I do tell them. Jared seems a little better then he did before but not so much better that I would want to be his friend or anything. I guess I should just tell him the truth. Maybe he will want to leave before we even get our drinks.
I sighed and then looked up at him.
âI have two children.â I said looking down at my napkin. When I tell people, they usually give me a look of disapproval. I know I am young, but they donât know the whole story.
âOh.â was all Jared said.

It was really awkward because Jared wasn't saying anything and I was just following him through the parking lot.
"What about everyone else that you were with? Didn't you all come together?" I asked wondering where they all had gone.
"We took two cars, we had one too many people to fit in only one car, so we split ourselves between the two cars, and well since I'm not going with them, they all went in one car." He explained the not so exciting story.
"Oh" was all I could say.
We walked through a few rows of cars until we got to what I guess was his car. He walked around to the passenger door and unlocked it and then opened it.
"Here you go, have a seat and try to relax after a hard days work" he said as he held out his hand for me to hold as he helped me climb in the car.
"Ha, thanks" I said sarcastically as he closed the door and walked around to the drivers side.
I pulled on my seat belt as he climbed in and did the same. He put the key in the ignition and started the car.
"Well Y/n, what would you like to do. Are you hungry?" he asked.
"Um, even if I was hungry, you just finished eating so why would you want to go out again."
"Well, I honestly didn't eat a lot because I was so upset about what I had done. Plus I'm never full, everyone calls me the bottomless pit." He said it like he was proud of it.
"Uh-huh, good to know. Then Yeah, I guess I could eat."
"Alright, well where do you like to go?"
"I honestly don't care. I'm not a picky eater." I said just wanting to get this thing started.
"Okay, well how about I drive around until we find a place?"
"Yeah. Fine."
With that he pulled away and started down the road.
We had been driving for a little while in silence. We had only passed a few fast food places but he said he didn't like that idea of going to one of those.
We drove for about ten more minutes and came across a steakhouse.
"Do you want to go there?" he asked.
"Sure, that's fine." I said, desperately wanting for this to end.
He pulled into a spot and hopped out before I could even get my seat belt off. I thought he was crazy until I realized he had walked over to my door and opened it for me.
He had a big goofy smile on his face as he helped be down out of the car.
"Uh, thanks." I said as he shut the door.
"Of course. May I escort you inside?" he asked as he held out his elbow towards me.
I simply nodded as I held his arm as we walked into the restaurant.
We walked in and could see that it was really crowded. There were at least fifteen people waiting to be seated. We walked right up to the hostess. She was busy marking up her seating chart.
"How many?" She asked without even looking up at us.
"Two" Jared responded. She scribbled something on her chart then looked up at us.
"Right this way, please." She said as she picked up some menus and walked through the maze of tables.
She brought us to a booth in the back of the restaurant and laid our menus on the table.
"Your server will be right with you." She said as she made her way back through the maze to the front of the restaurant.
"Get whatever you want." Jared said as he started looking over his menu.
"Oh, thanks, but I can cover myself.
He scrunched his eyebrows.
"No, absolutely not. First of all, I have to make up to you for how I acted earlier and second, I invited you so that means I pay." He said matter-of-factly.
"Well, I honestly don't like it when someone else pays for me." I said trying to convince him to let me pay.
"Sorry, you are just going to have to learn to like it." He said as he looked back down at his menu.
"Um, okay" I said as I opened my menu. I felt like I was getting whip lash from all of the different personalities I was getting to see from Jared today. He was making my head spin.
I looked over the menu too and noticed the prices immediately. It was really expensive here.
"Are you sure?" I looked up at him.
He gave me a reassuring smile.
"Positive, anything you want."
"Alright" I said as I still looked for the cheapest thing on the menu.
I know he was horrible to me before but I'm not going to act like a total creep and get something really expensive. I mean, I know how precious my hard earned money is; I wouldnât dare overspend someone elseâs hard earned money.
A waitress hurried to our table and was practically out of breath.
"Hi, I'm Jamie. I am not your server. Your server is overloaded with tables so, I will be helping you through out the night as well. I will take your drink orders and later he will take your food orders." She said all in one breath. She took out her pad and pen and waited for us to answer.
Jared spoke first.
"I will have an iced tea, please." She quickly wrote that down and then looked over at me.
"I will just have a water with no lemon, please." She nodded and mumbled that she'd be right back and scurried away.
This place was packed with people and they were obviously under-staffed.
I can definitely feel the pain that the servers are going through right now.
Jared shook me from my thoughts.
"So, do you know what you want to get?"
"Oh, um. No not yet. Do you?"
"Yeah, I think I'm going to get a steak. After all, we are at a steakhouse." he chuckled to himself.
I laughed slightly even though I didn't think it was funny at all.
I decided to have the seasoned chicken. It wasn't the most expensive thing on the menu and it wasn't the cheapest so, I felt that it was safe choice.
It was taking a while for our drinks to come back, so Jared started some small talk, or so he thought.
"So, what responsibilities do you have that your friend took care of for you?"
I stared at him.
Should I tell him the truth. I mean, it will probably make him back off and leave me alone if I do. But, I also don't like the way people judge me when I do tell them. Jared seems a little better then he did before but not so much better that I would want to be his friend or anything. I guess I should just tell him the truth. Maybe he will want to leave before we even get our drinks.
I sighed and then looked up at him.
"I have two children." I said looking down at my napkin. When I tell people, they usually give me a look of disapproval. I know I am young, but they don't know the whole story.
"Oh." was all Jared said.

Impossible - Chapter Five
Jared Padalecki x Reader
Warnings: None
Word Count: 1,173
I went into the kitchen and I saw Riley waiting by the door to the locker room. She saw me as I walked in and immediately walked over to me.
âI heard Craig yelling at you. Are you okay?â She asked as she gave me a hug.
âYeah, Iâm fine. Iâm just really wanting to get out of here.â
âAlright, sounds good to me. Iâm all done, so Iâll go get changed and then Iâll wait for you and then we can have a girls night.â She said. I laughed knowing that with my current situation, a âgirlâs nightâ was impossible.
âHaha, yeah a girls night. Well, you are more than welcome to come over to my place. I shouldnât be too long and then we can go.â I said and she nodded as we walked in different directions.
I made out the check and walked back to the dining room and set the check on the table.
âI will wait by the door, just let me know when you are ready for me to take it.â I said and walked over to the door and waited.
About five minutes later, Jensen called me back over.
âItâs ready.â He said as he handed me the check and a credit card.
âThank you.â I said as I went back to the kitchen and over to the cash register by the door.
I got it all ready and grabbed a pen as I walked back to the dining room.
âHere is the receipt. Please sign it.â I said as I handed it back to Jensen.
He signed it and then handed it back to me.
âAlright, thank you. You are all set. It was a pleasure having you all here and I hope you all come back soon to visit with us again.â I ignored Jaredâs constant stare as I made my way out of the room for the last time that night.
I walked back to the kitchen and put the receipt in the receipt drawer and walked over to the locker room.
Riley was walking out as I walked in.
âHey, Iâm all ready but you can take your time.â She said as she walked towards the kitchen doors so that she could punch out.
I nodded as I made my way to my locker.
I changed out of my stained uniform and put back on the outfit that I had picked out this morning.
I comfy pair of jeans and a purple v-neck shirt. I closed my locker door and then I heard someone walk into the locker room.
âY/n/n?â
âYeah, by my locker.â I answered knowing it was Riley.
âHey, there is someone who really wants to talk to you but I had to make sure that you were decent and well that there was no other women in here changing.â
âWhat? Why? Who is it?â I asked not understanding.
âSo many questions. Just get your shoes on and Iâll send this mystery person in.â she said as she walked back through the door.
I sat down on a bench as I began to tie up my shoes. As I finished one shoe, I heard the locker room door open and quiet footsteps headed in my direction.
I looked over when I heard the footsteps turn the corner to wear I was sitting. It was Jared. I was confused to see him again, to say the least.
âWhat are you doing in here?â I asked. He looked down at his feet for a second and then back up at me.
âWell, I wanted to really apologize. I know that I really messed up and in a lot of ways. Please forgive me. I want to try to make it up to you.â His eyes were the biggest puppy dog eyes I had ever seen but it didnât change how awful I felt.
âHow could you possibly make it up to me? This was the worst dinner service I have ever done.â I said. It was slightly rude but it was the complete truth.
âWell I know it was all my fault, so I told that man Craig what had really happened. He said for me to tell you that he wonât take the money for the glasses out of your paycheck. And well, I also know that you have the wrong impression of me so, I wanted to know if I could take you out so we could properly get to know each other. It would be my treat.â He looked kind of like a teenage boy asking a girl out for the first time. It was kind of cute, but I canât believe he would think I would want to spend anymore time with him.
âWhat would make you think that I would want to spend more time with you? I really donât think it would be a good idea.â I said finishing tying up my other shoe.
âThatâs just it. I want you to get to know who I really am. Not all the stupid stuff I did today.â He said trying to persuade me.
âLook, I think I have had just about enough for one day.â I said standing up grabbing my bag.
âOh.â He said as he looked back down at his feet.
Just as I was about to open my mouth to say goodbye, I heard the locker room door open and someone running in my direction.
Riley ran around the corner.
âY/n.n, you should go. Iâll take care of all your responsibilities at home. Come on, you deserve a night out. You have no excuses. Do it.â She was obviously listening right outside the door.
âRi, I canât. What about theâŚâ She cut me off.
âDonât worry, Iâll take care of everything and everyone at your place until you get back. See, you have no excuses. Just go.â She said pushing me towards Jaredâs direction.
I gave her a look, pleading with her to understand how much I didnât want to spend anymore time with him.
âWell, it looks like sheâs got everything under control. Are you up for it?â Jared asked with a little more confidence.
I looked back at Riley one last time. She gave me a devious smile. I sighed knowing that there was no way to get out of this.
âI guess.â
Jared smiled and with that gesture, the three of us walked out of the locker room. I gave Riley the keys to my car and to my apartment. Riley normally takes the bus to work but since she is taking care of my responsibilities, she has to take my car.
"Bye you two. Have fun. Oh and Jared, I have everything under control, so donât let her convince you that she has to rush home for anything.â She said as she walked out the door to the parking lot. I need to remember to kill her for that later.
Jared smiled again and lead the way out the door to his car.
This is definitely going to be interesting.

When you come home late expecting your parents to be asleep...
This is what it felt like coming in late tonight and I didnât tell my roommates where I was going or when I was coming home.
Apparently the tried calling & texting all night long.
Too bad my phone died...whoops.
One roommate thought I was dead in an alley, murdered by a serial killer.
The other thought I was stolen and sold into sex trafficking...
Not sure which one is worse...

Impossible - Chapter Four
Jared Padalecki x Reader
Warnings: A little bit of angst
Word Count: 1,153
I walked into the dining room with the tray of drinks. Everyone seemed to quiet down and look back and forth between each other not knowing what to say. I interrupted the silence.
âI am very sorry everyone, please forgive the delay. There was a small accident but everything has been taken care of. Iâll deliver the drinks to whom they belong and then I will go around and take everyoneâs food order.â I said as I started to move around and place the drinks in front of the ones who requested them. When I mentioned an accident, I saw everyoneâs eyes shift to Jared, who slowly sunk down in his chair.
I walked to the head of the table and began taking food orders. When I got to Jared, he didnât look up at me and I didnât look down at him. He only mumbled his order, âMay I please have the chicken parmesan?â
I scribbled down his order and nodded so that I didnât have to actually speak to him. It may have been childish but I donât care. My night was going awful and he was the main reason.
I took the rest of the orders and made my way towards the door but before leaving, I turned back to the group.
âI will take your orders directly to the chef and have him start them now. So, hopefully it wonât take very long. I apologize again for the delay.â I said and then walked back to the kitchen.
The chef was ticked at me for giving him the order. He knew he would have to stop what he was already doing and start on my orders, which means it would push back other peoples orders in other dining rooms. Needless to say, it was not going to be a happy night in the kitchen.
I decided to just wait in the kitchen for the food, even though I was supposed to go back to the dining room. I couldnât bare standing there listening to their conversations. I would much rather wait where I wouldnât have to pretend to enjoy being a servant to a bunch of rich, famous jerks.
I didnât wait too long though, because within ten minutes, the chef had gotten all of the orders for my dining room. He had the whole kitchen staff work together on my orders. Itâs good that it was fast, but itâs also bad because now I have to go wait on them again.
I grabbed the tray of food and the tray holder and walked back towards the room. It was a longer walk because the tray was really heavy so I had to walk slower.
I arrived back in the room and it wasnât as tense as it was the last time. They were all talking when I approached the table.
I set up the tray holder with one hand and then rested the tray of food on the holder and began to distribute the food.
I passed out the food to everyone at the table. Everyone either smiled or said thank you, well except for Miss Newton who said, âtook you long enough.â
I smiled at her and walked back to the tray. The only food left on the tray was Jaredâs. I walked over to where he was sitting. He had his shoulders kind of hunched over but instead of keeping his head down like last time, he looked up at me. âThanks, Y/n.â he half smiled.
I gave him a half smile back and walked away.
I picked up the tray and looked around to see if there were any drinks that needed to be filled. There were only two, so I grabbed the cups and left the room.
I re-filled the drinks and brought them back. I set them back down full. Then I announced, âI will be standing right over there, so I will be here if you need anything. Just let me know.â I said and walked over to the door and stood by the entrance.
I had been standing there for about five minutes and there was very little conversation at the table. I guess they were all hungry because that was the main thing they were focusing on. Eating.
Not even a moment later, my boss comes through the door.
âY/n, what is this I hear about you being behind? You have made every other dinner run late as well. And what is this all over your clothes? You are really slacking off tonight.â He yelled not even caring that the whole dinner party just heard his whole rant.
I looked over at Jared to see what he thought about all of this. He looked sad, but was looking down at the floor.
I knew I was going to have to put the blame on myself.
âIâm so sorry Craig. I accidentally dropped my drinks tray and it spilled all over me and the floor. And then I had to clean up the mess and re-make the drinks, so that is what caused the delay. But everything is almost back to being on track.â I said in hopes that would make things better. It didnât.
âYou what? You spilled the drinks? How many glasses did you break.â he said as his voice began to get louder.
âTwelve glasses were broken, sir.â I said knowing what was coming next.
âWell that is going to be docked from your pay. And better get every stain out of that uniform, because if not, the payment for a new one will also becoming out of your paycheck.â He said all in one breath.
I looked quickly over at Jared who was now looking over at us and watching as if it were a scene in a movie.
âI understand, sir.â
âGood, now finish up this service without anymore damage.â he said as he walked out the door.
Everyone at the table was looking in my direction. I tried to put on a smile but it wasnât working. I canât believe Jared would do that. He would just sit there while I took the blame for everything that he did. Well, my boss would have probably blamed me for all of it even if Jared had spoken up, but still.
âI am sorry that you all had to witness that. I hope that it does not hinder you from wanting to come back and spend time with us again. Please continue your meals, I will be right back with the check.â I said as I walked out the door without leaving time for them to respond.
This is ridiculous. I canât believe that Craig would embarrass me like that and then Jared embarrass me even more by not standing up for me. But I guess, that is just too much to expect from a celebrity. Itâs just too much to expect from any man.

I re-filled the drinks and brought them back. I set them back down full. Then I announced, "I will be standing right over there, so I will be here if you need anything. Just let me know." I said and walked over to the door and stood by the entrance.
I had been standing there for about five minutes and there was very little conversation at the table. I guess they were all hungry because that was the main thing they were focusing on. Eating.
Not even a moment later, my boss comes through the door.
"Y/n, what is this I hear about you being behind? You have made every other dinner run late as well. And what is this all over your clothes? You are really slacking off tonight." He yelled not even caring that the whole dinner party just heard his whole rant.
I looked over at Jared to see what he thought about all of this. He looked sad, but was looking down at the floor.
I knew I was going to have to put the blame on myself.
"I'm so sorry Craig. I accidentally dropped my drinks tray and it spilled all over me and the floor. And then I had to clean up the mess and re-make the drinks, so that is what caused the delay. But everything is almost back to being on track." I said in hopes that would make things better. It didn't.
"You what? You spilled the drinks? How many glasses did you break." he said as his voice began to get louder.
"Twelve glasses were broken, sir." I said knowing what was coming next.
"Well that is going to be docked from your pay. And better get every stain out of that uniform, because if not, the payment for a new one will also becoming out of your paycheck." He said all in one breath.
I looked quickly over at Jared who was now looking over at us and watching as if it were a scene in a movie.
"I understand, sir."
"Good, now finish up this service without anymore damage." he said as he walked out the door.
Everyone at the table was looking in my direction. I tried to put on a smile but it wasn't working. I can't believe Jared would do that. He would just sit there while I took the blame for everything that he did. Well, my boss would have probably blamed me for all of it even if Jared had spoken up, but still.
"I am sorry that you all had to witness that. I hope that it does not hinder you from wanting to come back and spend time with us again. Please continue your meals, I will be right back with the check." I said as I walked out the door without leaving time for them to respond.
This is ridiculous. I can't believe that Craig would embarrass me like that and then Jared embarrass me even more by not standing up for me. But I guess, that is just too much to expect from a celebrity. It's just too much to expect from any man.
