Tumblr might shut down

alr, I'm gonna spread some awareness about it!

so, have you heard about Tumblr getting shut down? I just did! from my own quick research all I can really say is that Tumblr is cutting stuff, and it can turn out with Tumblr getting shut down. it gets Tumblr users worried, so, please, do your own research and spread awarness about this situation!

I love the “Steve has good parents, they’re just not on camera.”

Mom edition

Dustin is crawling in through the window. He freezes halfway through the window when he makes eye contact with Steve’s mom.

“Sweetie who is this small curly haired child breaking into our house?”

“That’s Dustin.”

“Okay?”

“I’ve adopted him as my brother.”

“Hello new son?”

Steve’s mom comes home to find Joyce on her couch, Steve talking very excitedly to her.

“What’s Joyce doing here?”

“Hey mom, meet mom.”

“Two moms and you still can’t avoid getting concussed every year?”

“Neither of you are very good at your job.”

“Mom!” Steve’s mom turns at the voice and finds a small redhead looking at Steve.

“Yes Max?”

“Can you take me to the arcade?”

Steve groans, pulling out some of the allowance that his mom had just given him and handed it to the little girl.

“Lucas too?”

“Yes, now scram.”

“Mom?” Steve’s mom asks.

“I’m not sure how that happened either.”

Eddie shows up on their doorstep with a bunch of half burnt cookies.

“I’m here for Steve.” He says simply to the bewildered mother staring at him.

“Okay.” She turns back towards the inside of the house. “Steve your boyfriend is here.”

“Did Steve tell you?”

“No, but god does my boy have a type.”

On that first day in Diagon Alley, Draco isn't the only Malfoy to lay eyes on Harry Potter, and thank Merlin for that. Narcissa Malfoy is surprised to come across the savior of the wizarding world timidly walking through crowds of unsuspecting wizards, clad in filthy muggle clothes and barely chaperoned by the Hogwarts groundskeeper. Keeping out of view, she finds herself following him through the alleyways and noting small behaviors that, alone, no one would think about, but together, tell a story no child should tell. She grew up in a family known for insanity and she knows an abused child when she sees one, the small boy flinching every time Hagrid raises his hand or someone drops something nearby, wringing the oversized shirt clenched in trembling fingers. No, no, this won't do at all, she thinks to herself.

Narcissa rarely asks for her husband's blessing or permission to do something, and adopting the Dark Lord's sworn enemy is no different. Within hours, she sits in front of the wizengamot and pleads her case. "Sirius Black is my cousin," she tells them, "Harry Potter's rightful guardian. He can not perform the duty from Azkaban, obviously," she sneers, "and with that in mind, I would like to present myself in his stead."

Cornelius Fudge, suspicious of Dumbledore and uncertain as to why the Potter boy remains with muggles in the first place, is more than happy to oblige. Pissing off the Headmaster of Hogwarts is honestly just a fortunate side effect, surely.

It takes time, as all adoptions do, and Harry isn't even notified of what had happened until the week or so before the first Christmas break. Draco has been odd since the train ride to Hogwarts in September, snarky and quick-witted, and yet soft with Harry, as though someone has told him to go easy on the smaller bot. They sit together in a compartment on their way home for Christmas. Home, Harry thinks, awed by the concept of home being anywhere but his cupboard. He wonders what it will be like and asks Draco about the Manor, to which Draco happily fills him in on the grand and ornate home they are on their way to. Harry wonders to himself if that means his cupboard will be much larger there. He worries about keeping the space clean, with so much of it.

Lucius Malfoy is not happy with this turn of events. He thought, at first, that his beautiful wife had offered him a sacrificial lamb, a way into the Dark Lord's good graces. Narcissa shuts that thought down quickly, and Lucius, smarter than anyone gives him credit for, realizes that he will have to choose between pleasing his wife and pleasing a madman. He'd much rather face the Dark Lord's wrath, but that doesn't mean he's happy about it.

Pretty much just Harry being adopted by a morally grey Narcissa Malfoy who will do anything for him, even fight the Dark Lord. Gryffindor Harry, Slytherin Draco still. It can be a Drarry fic for sure, but so much later in life.

Also, Harry is best friends with all of the Malfoy house elves. All of them. First name basis. He even helps them cook and clean to Draco's horror.

im a fucking sucker for the “character gets so badly injured that they can’t think clearly and start calling for help in a distressingly vulnerable way.” characters who start using nicknames for their friends they haven’t used since they were kids. characters who start begging for their brother they haven’t seen in years to be there. characters who would usually use their parents’ names or call them mother/father/etc crying out mama when they go down. u understand.

Proper Hogwarts Houses

Honestly, the sorting hat needs to learn how to do its damn job.

Harry belonged in Gryffindor, yes. He valued bravery over all else. He'd been raised by horrible people that called him stupid and weird on a daily basis. I'm sure they didn't promote learning for him, I'm sure Dudley made school hell and kept friends away from him. He would have done well in Slytherin, but he belonged in Gryffindor.

It put Ron in Gryffindor because it had put every other Weasley there too. He belonged in Hufflepuff though. He wasn't brave by himself; he was brave for his friends. He was brave because he had to be.

It put Hermione in Gryffindor because she was brave, but she was so incredibly smart though and I wonder how much better that would have been encouraged if she'd been in Ravenclaw. Would her classmates have called her a know-it-all? Would they have complained about her studying habits?

It put Draco in Slytherin because he admired his dad, wanted to be like him, but look me in the eyes and tell me Draco didn't value bravery. Tell me that the boy that wanted to be friends with Harry so bad they became enemies never thought about how brave he was, never wanted to grow up to be like the famous Harry Potter, the boy who killed the Dark Lord as a boy. Tell me he wasn't brilliant, the second smartest student in his year. Tell me he didn't value friendships, Pansy and Blake and Crabbe and Goyle.

It put James Potter in Gryffindor and he belonged there too.

It put Lily Evans in Gryffindor, but she was the smartest witch of her age. Why not put her in Ravenclaw.

It put Remus Lupin in Gryffindor, but he grew up to be a professor. Did he belong in Ravenclaw as well?

It put Sirius in Gryffindor and I support that choice, but it reminds me of Ron Weasley at times. If it had followed procedure, put siblings together, Sirius would have ended up in Slytherin.

It put that rat of a man in Gryffindor, and I think we all know Peter Pettigrew didn't belong there. If it had put him in Hufflepuff, would he have learned how to have stronger friendships? If it had put him in Slytherin, would he ever have been friends with the Marauders?

The house system at Hogwarts is dumb and outdated, and if Hogwarts wasn't so far from the current day, so stuck in the past, then maybe they would have never had evil student. Not so many, at least. Honestly, a house dedicated to sly and witty children didn't need to be filled with all Death Eater children. I don't believe that all of those kids looked up to their parents. I don't believe that Crabbe and Goyle would have become what they did if they weren't in Slytherin.

The Harry Potter TV Show

I do not want a Harry Potter TV Show with live actors on screen. I want it animated. I do not want another 8 years of following the same character. I want something new that expands the universe. Show us Tom Riddle at Hogwarts, show us how he became a Dark Lord. Show us the Marauders at Hogwarts, show us love and death and sacrifices that we haven't already seen.

I see gorgeous art and wonderful stories on this app every day, people that could and would happily help expand the Harry Potter universe. Why, when fanfiction has already done everything it can to fix the inconsistencies of the series, do we need another iteration of things we've already seen? I'm so sick of remakes and endless sequels.

Give us something new!

Potter is wearing golden yellow Auror trainee robes, which clash terribly with his eyes and make his skin look sallow, highlighting the exhaustion pooled in the valleys of his face. It really is a good day.  “All right?” Potter asks, regaining his composure and lifting his chin.  Draco shrugs.  “You can smoke out here, if you want,” he says.  “There’s a sign,” Potter says, pointing to the ‘no smoking’ sign directly to his left. The Auror training is having an impact, already.  "You can smoke out here,” Draco corrects. He can’t imagine anyone denying Potter anything, certainly not now, probably for the rest of his life. “Nasty habit, though.”  “I know,” Potter says. He puts the cigarette back in its packet and shoves his hands in his pockets, looking extremely young. Draco forgets, sometimes, that he’s the older one of them both.  The way people talk about him, even in here, Potter has become in his mind ageless, an idol on a throne and a devil all at once.

Drarry fic id love to write but I'm too lazy: Second year canon divergence where Draco saw his father put something in Ginny's cauldron, got curious and manage to steal it back without anyone(including his father) realizing. Draco opens the journal. Meanwhile Harry quickly starts noticing Draco is acting weird(this fic being extra ironic with how little Harry notice Ginny, but easily notices Draco in Ginnys place being weird) would love to talk out how this would change canon. Especially 12 year old Harry being extra obsessed with Draco.

I don’t ever read rewrites that go so far back, but it could be so cute them becoming friends and Draco joining the Golden Trio!

I think it could deffo be a thing. I can imagine Draco basically writing to Voldemort about how much he hates Saint Potter and how unimpressed he is with him and how much of a show off Harry is. But then he writes little things like “once I wished I was his friend, but he rejected me, stupid Potter!” and he continues writing things like “I saw him today with his stupid hair and his stupid Quidditch robes, that by the way, look stupid on him and totally not cute”. Then he just rants and rants about things he notices about Harry and how he definitely doesn’t care for him and could never care about him, and one day he is like “I saw him smile today and I had this weird feeling in my stomach, I think my hate must be getting stronger”. And Tom is just like WTF ?! WILL YOU SHUT UP ABOUT POTTERS DISLIKES TOWARDS GOOD AND HIS HAIR AND HIS SMILE OMG! YOU HAVE TOLD ME NOTHING USEFUL THAT I CAN USE AGAINST HIM!

Although Tom can still use Draco like he used Ginny, but I don’t think Draco would ever be used to being Tom alive? Or maybe I just can’t think of how it would make sense.

Harry probably would notice that Draco is acting differently. As Draco could be realising that he still wants to be friends with Harry, maybe he can even be terrified by some flashes of memories he gets of Voldy and start to question his belief system? I don’t know.

But it would be cool if somehow Harry tried taking to Draco and they could become friends and Harry would be able to unteach Draco all about his beliefs put on to him by his parents.

They could continue being friends through out the years and develop a deeper bond later on. Probably crushing on each other hard in 4th, 5th and 6th year.

Canonically with how Draco is and how much he respects his father and wants to make him proud I don’t think it would work so well. It would take a lot to convince him his beliefs are wrong and harmful. Of course if written well it could be done, but I only ever read or am in a process of writing post-war or Deathly Hallows rewrites as that’s where Drarry actually makes sense the most and they are young adults or adults then.

I think there are few fic that I have yet to read like Draco Malfoy and the Mirror of Ecidyrue

I think it’s a time travel(?) fic and have a dynamic of Drarry becoming friends in their early years of Hogwarts.
