The background says "I'll feed your boundless hunger with my endless tenderness". Because Binghe's longing for SQQ's tenderness and SQQ's wish to provide for and protect him is one of my favourite things about Bingqiu. Closeups, acknowledgements, sketch, symbolism and a fun game:

Acknowledgments: Binghe's face is inspired by @folding-fan whose Binghes are just so cute and pretty! The composition, letters and drapery are inspired by Art Nouveau posters.

Symbolism: The reason neither of their mouths are visible is to symbolise their miscommunication issues and SQQ's closed eyes symbolise his obliviousness. And the decoration on the top of the frame is a stylised lotus that shifts from white to black, because SQQ lives him at his whitest, at his blackest and every beautiful colour in-between. And the shape of the letters and if the zuiyin is supposed to look a bit like lotus petals.

Fun game: can you guess how their legs are supposed to be positioned by the drapery of SQQ's robes? Here's the answer:

They're wearing a bit of each other's colour: SQQ' red hairtie and LBH's green waist ornament :3

SQQ is supposed to be doing a rare and dangerous (for Binghe's heart) "headpat+hairkiss" combo but it kinda looks like he's sniffing Binghe's hair, which is fine too, I bet it smells so good!

After posting I noticed that Binghe's hair is way too big so it looks like SQQ is barely touching it instead of firmly pressing his head to his chest orz Just know that I was going for the latter!

Bingqiu fashion part 2: Binghe demonstrates demon fashion for Shizun

Shizun is merely expressing scientific curiosity: If these pants really are only held together by waist ties, how do they not flap open immodestly if Binghe moves quickly, are they glued to Binghe's hips or something? (The answer is: they do flap open and Binghe will be happy to demonstrate!) Close-ups and sketches:

Qijiu:

Bingqiu: "Oh no, it seems this master has been captured by a handsome and powerful demon lord! Whatever shall I do~?"

Qijiu in a 90's grunge/punk teens AU, where SJ starts smoking as a young teen and YQ gets a cheap lighter for him. But SJ says: "Nah. It's ugly. You keep it." Because this way SJ has a plausibly deniable reason to demand YQ's attention basically any time he wants it! So now YQ always carries that lighter for SJ, even though he doesn't smoke himself.

Their separation happens when they are older than in canon. Their reunion goes badly. But the moment SJ pulls out a cigarette in YQY's vicinity, immediately YQY is there, a lighter in his outstretched hand - old and beat up but still obviously the same. Only one modification: it's now hanging from a chain. SJ silently, warily lights the cigarette and YQY smiles and puts the lighter chain necklace back on, tucking it inside his shirt to lay directly over his skin.

SJ's brain spins its wheels for a moment, unable to fit this fact into his worldview, but he quickly finds his anger again, drawling: "Ah, the immaculate Yue Qingyuan has started smoking. What a disgusting habit."

YQY's smile drops and he says quietly "No, I don't smoke. But I don't think it's disgusting."

I imagine at that SJ might run out of steam and leave? He needs time to think about this, right? But maybe next day he ends up "accidentally" taking out a cigarette in YQY's line of sight again, and that same lighter comes out again, and for a bit they stand together in silence that feels less suffocating than usual..?

And next day it happens again and SJ says: "You don't think it's disgusting? Prove it."

He hands YQY a cigarette. YQY dutifully tries to smoke it and starts coughing and even tearing up but still keeps trying to smoke it - because! it's a gift from Xiao Jiu! until SJ snatches the cigarette from his hand and viciously grinds it out.

Next day YQY comes with a pack of extra light cigarettes and asks SJ to teach him how to smoke properly. (He wants to prove his feelings to SJ! And of course it would be nice if he could lean in close to SJ's face and light his cigarette from SJ's own...)

Would SJ agree because he wants to drag the sect leader down to his level? Then maybe that could be the start of their reconciliation, being together for 5 unproblematic minutes every day?

Or maybe he'd feel like he had to protect Qi-ge from doing stupid and harmful things just because some spiteful asshole told him to, and would stop him? Even if SJ himself is the spiteful asshole!

Just - the thought of YQY during all the years of their separation always wearing a beat-up old lighter on a chain where nobody can see it because he thinks Xiao Jiu is dead and that's all he has left of him...But he never lights it because Xiao Jiu DIED IN A FIRE so he possibly has even more hangups about fire than SJ does...

Epilogue 1

At some point in the future SJ is sitting in a chair as he pulls out a cigarette. YQY leans down with the lighter but SJ tells him "No, get down here," and pulls YQY to kneel in front of him... YQY doesn't move away and is looking at SJ so rapturously that his first smoke exhalation lands directly in his face...

Epilogue 2

So in this universe SJ doesn't carry a lighter himself. I'm imagining a smoke break at Cang Qiong where SQH is nervously twisting the cheapest and grubbiest cigarette in existence in his fingers and asking SJ for a light.

SJ looks at him down his nose. "Do I look like the sort of person who needs to carry his own lighter?"

SQH is like: "Dude, you're actively smoking right now, light mine with yours!"

SJ immediately drops his cigarette on the ground, viciously grinds it out, turns around and walks away without a word.

Epilogue 3

Imagine SJ, in a fit of self- and everybody-else-loathing, saying something about how the cheap, beat-up, old lighter is an embarrassment - how SJ might get his own lighter to avoid having to see that ugly thing. YQY wouldn't want to lose Precious Lighter Time With Xiao Jiu, so next day when SJ gets out a cigarette YQY pulls out a new diamond-encrusted solid gold lighter, worthy of Xiao Jiu 💖

And SJ almost has a qi deviation because YQY has Replaced Their Shameful Ugly Past With An Expensive New Model. Which he expresses by cuttingly saying that the new lighter is even uglier than the old model and that perhaps YQY should go dig the old one out of the trash bin he threw it in because his taste is worse than trash. (Regardless of how tasteful the new lighter actually is.)

At which point YQY apologises and says that if SJ prefers the old lighter he can have it of course! And he pulls it out (he hung it from a chain necklace that's always resting over his heart).

SJ is quiet after that.

So, butch Shen Jiu!!! @waitineedaname's excellent post about making MXTX characters butch helped me understand how to genderbend correctly: Instead of keeping the character's levels of masculinity and femininity, it's more fun to keep their level of gender conformity! Thus:

YQY is a man who projects an image of traditional masculinity - power, protection, big brotherliness etc. So a genderbent YQY should be a woman who projects femininity.

SJ's "immaculate scholar" persona may be considered a masculine ideal in Chinese culture for all I know, but since it's an AU set in the West, I'm thinking in Western terms, in which the image he projects is rather androgynous, so, butch SJ in a dapper suit with slicked back hair💖

My final DxD entry, this one is for the adorable prompt "mobei-jun learns that the only way to stop shang qinghua from overworking and getting him to rest is through ulterior means." The means being, wear your most transparent and also fluffiest robe, wrap yourself around Qinghua and wrestle her into bed. She'll wriggle and whine for a while but settle down eventually.

Yes, this is still about @waitineedaname's skrunkly butch SQH and high femme MBJ fic! Their relationship dynamics are such that MBJ wears the fancy fluffy translucent robe to bed and SQH wears the heart-patterned cartoon boxers, and I love that for them! 💖 (The person who wears the old-timey sleeping cap and nightshirt is of course SQQ, and LBH comes to SQQ's place to stay the night and claims she forgot her sleepwear at home. It's not a problem at all, she prefers to sleep in the nude anyway, Shizun! Of course SQQ can't allow that and lends her one of her own nightshirts to sleep in. But seeing her own shirt straining over LBH's bosom somehow turns out to be maybe even more distracting than just letting her sleep in the nude would have been??? Weird.)

In @waitineedaname's excellent scrunkly butch SQH / muscular femme MBJ fic there's this exchange where MBJ tries to convince SQH of her romantic interest: MBJ: "I have been inviting you out for drinks for years." SQH: "To exchange the intel you were paying me for!" So I wanted to draw what that looked like.

MBJ, coming as close as possible for her to giggling, blushing and twirling her hair: "I will expect your report at the usual place on Saturday at 1800 hours."

SQH, running on 3 hours of sleep and too out of it to realise MBJ can't see her thumbs up: "Yes, boss, on it, boss..."

I imagine the first time Bingmei starts blackflirting with Bingge (unplanned, without talking to SQQ about it first) SQQ's immediate thought is "♣️♣️♣️ALERT!♣️♣️♣️ gotta break it up! this is dangerous!" - because he is very Kanaya coded To Me (not only because of the jade green, the motherhood, the virginity, the fact that apparently virgo is literally his zodiac sign??) and therefore I headcanon him as being overly enthusiastic about auspisticising. But also this is just sensible, there's hardly anything more likely to cause mass destruction than an angry OP protagonist - except for 2 of them!

HOWEVER, he physically cannot bring himself to move or speak because this is the hottest thing he has ever seen and he's in complete "instead of brain there is binghe" mode

The homestuck fan in me really wants to see fic where Bingmei blackflirts with Bingge and teases him, especially if Bingmei is bigger and stronger than Bingge due to getting better nutrition and training. I want to see Bingge be gently bullied a bit too, maybe with immortal binding cables. SQQ is probably off to the side mesmerized.
