omg sorry i missed your x-ray pics, but i'm so glad they were successfully separated! we would definitely had to have outsourced that procedure at my lab too, so i'm not surprised; most labs can do some first-aid and maybe minor surgery but certainly not with species we aren't familiar with :) you two look so happy! thanks for the update!
To all those who receive this I have a bit of a problem and I’m looking for alternate view points that might help. A few days ago my new world Katubo I caught off the coat of the Hoenn region 12 years ago latched itself onto the tail of local Slowpoke on my properties large pond. Together they evolved into A variation of Slowbro i’ve never encountered before. Ordinarily this wouldn’t be an issue But they seem to hate each other.
Kabuto and I are rather close , slowpoke and I were strangers . On more than one occasion the slowpoke components of slowbro has actively been aggressive towards me (which is fine were strangers it takes time to develop friendships) what concerns me is that occasionally the The slowpoke component has at least attempted to be aggressive to kabuto and vice versa. At the end of the day it seems like fundamentally they want different things . Slowpoke is wild ,kabuto isn’t
Slowpoke doesn’t like spending time with me, kabuto dose
Slowpoke enjoy sunbathing , Kabuto prefers to swim and etc.
originally I considered having them removed from each other surgically by my local professor Prof.Apricot but she admits she doesn’t really have any experience dealing with kabuto and other fossil Pokémon and doesn’t know what would happen if she remove them. Prof. Apricot was also confused by Slowbros behavior generally this species of Pokémon is walks on two legs ,is quite docile and friendly while this variation is clearly aggressive and only walks on all fours. She’s currently trying to find resources that might help but If any professor has information on this variation of Slowbro i’d be thankful for the help

Hi... I just wanted to see how your day was going... love your art ^_^ have an angy forg...if you want..,
today's been pretty exciting! we had a rattata get into the lab today, but me and charles managed to catch it and put it back outside. we've spent the rest of the day cleaning, because nothing highlights messes like trying to find a rattata that's hiding under a desk you haven't properly looked at in years lol
i love these forg doodles, what an interesting little creature! reminds me of a politoed!

@autumn-raptor here is your new drifloon! please take care of each other, and enjoy each other's company!
this one has a bold nature and is somewhat of a clown!
Hiya professor~ I'm Autumn and I'm an artist with many lofty aspirations and too many struggles with motivation. I live on the edge of an eerie lake and a city with a great theater district. I'm hoping to get a starter and and partner to expand my horizons with.
hi autumn! i definitely relate haha, let's see what we've got!
please reply (or reblog if replies aren't working for whatever reason) with your choice between these three candidates:
- staryu! this pokemon would feel right at home playing in the lake, and their strange core has been the inspiration of many artists. as long as its core is intact these pokemon are quite resiliant, and the bioluminescence exhibited by them is quite beautiful. they use their cores primarily to communicate, so in areas with other flashing red lights (such as street lights, LED lights, or some construction zones) they sometimes become confused; this is definitely something to be aware of when going out to town together!
- swablu! if you're looking for a partner who loves meeting new people, this is the way to go. they're very curious about humans for some reason and will often land on strangers' heads to say hello! these pokemon also love to help clean, with their fluffy wings, and spend much of their free time dusting with their fluffy wings. these pokemon get somewhat restless if kept in the house too much, and should be let out to soar over the waters or town from time to time!
- drifloon! these pokemon love humid environments, and seem to find it easier to float over water than land. if any other ghost-types live near the lake, they will make fast friends, giving you something of a protection-by-association from any pranks they might pull! these pokemon are also, like swablu, very curious about humans. there are urban legends about this pokemon dragging children to the world of the dead, but there are no reported cases of this actually happening! they simply love to be held by their hands and some of them don't quite know their own strength and end up pulling children along a bit by mistake.

here is your new joltik! please take care of each other, and enjoy each other's company!
this joltik has a quiet nature, and nods off a lot.
Greetings Professor! I would like to ask after a starter pokemon, if it's not too much trouble.
I'm chronically sick, dealing with a rather serious condition that, among other things, causes pain and fatigue. I have a hard time walking some days, so a very active pokemon wouldn't be great. I like spooky stories, and I'm a melancholic, curious and warm hearted person. I have a soft spot for spiders. Currently I live in a mild climate, but prefer colder temperatures.
Thank you for your time!
hello there! let's take a look!
please reply (or reblog if replies aren’t working for whatever reason) with your choice between these three candidates:
- joltik! these pokemon are very small, and aren't particularly energetic for an electric-type pokemon. they will feed on electricity from outlets in your home, and a small plasma globe is a great toy for them to play with that would only require you to flip it on! if you purchase one, please be careful and read any warnings or labels it comes with. these pokemon also tend to communicate affection primarily through touch; their fur and feet are rather sensitive and they love to be in contact with those they care for as much as possible, so don't be surprised if it hangs out on your shoulder quite frequently and don't be afraid to shower it with pets!
- elgyem! this is a pokemon that tends to be extremely relaxed, but also curious. many of them enjoy seeking out stories, news, or information as much as possible, and are very attentive listeners. their ability to cause severe headaches is well-known, but lesser-known is their ability to allievate them with the move calm mind! i wonder how people's perception of them would change if there was more focus on their healing and calming abilities than their dangerous ones. of course, as a psychic type, these pokemon are endowed with telekinetic powers, so they can lift even heavy objects with ease!
- skorupi! as a small ambush predator, they are evolved to be quite sedentary, and are perfectly fine without any walks. as with venipede, including payapa berries in its diet is reccommended for pet skorupi in order to repress the strength of their poison. however, as its poison has a paralyzing effect, some people will use it in topical pain relievers; in small doses and if not ingested, it will not do any harm to your body. they tend to be very patient pokemon, and love wand toys and small remote-controlled toys-- they'll lie in wait as you dance it around, and attack as soon as it's close enough! they are native to warmer climates, but as long as you provide a basking spot with an IR heat bulb they will be happy.

Hi, it’s Jenna!
It was a tough decision, but I think Foongus is the best starter for me.
(At first, I was thinking Eevee, but my dad collects evolutionary stones and always forgets to lock the door to his study, so I figured it was better not to risk accidentally evolving it too early.)
that is wise! a prematurely evolved eevee can be quite the handful haha.
here is foongus! please take care of each other, and enjoy each other's company!
this pokemon has a quirky nature and is highly curious.

of course! here comes elekid now!
please enjoy each others company and take care of each other! :)
this pokemon has a brave nature and is quite strong willed!
Hey, this is my application for a starter Pokémon. My name is El Capperlini, from Slateport, Hoenn. I used to work at Stern’s Shipyard (but I got fired because I kept stealing parts to make my own ship lmao). Now I spend most of the year sailing around the world so I’m looking for a companion to stay with me on the ship. For myself, I’m a hyper and friendly dude, open to new experiences, and tend to be hasty (not much a thinker, more of a doer).
Water-friendly and adventurousness would be much appreciated qualities in my new friend! Since I’ll be hopefully be exploring lots of new islands, any abilities that can help out in that aspect would be a bonus too. Any suggestions for my first mate, Prof?
hello el! i'd love to hear any stories from your voyages, that sounds incredible!
please reply (or reblog if replies aren't working for whatever reason) with your choice between these three candidates:
- tropius! i usually wouldn't reccomend this pokemon for beginner trainers as they can be quite difficult at times, but if you feel you're up to a challenge think it could be an excellent choice for your situation. they can fly for great distances, and its grass type will also be an advantage on the waters! it can sustain itself on its fruit for a time, but it does require large amounts of plant matter each day, so you may have to either become quite adept at fishing for aquatic plants or store large amounts of food for it for your journeys. this pokemon tends to be rather even-keeled and thoughtful; perhaps you will compliment each other nicely!
- elekid! an electric-type is definitely a boon in areas with many wingull and pepplier. though tynamo is more comfortable around water, they are not happy or strong enough to fend for themselves without a school around them. elekid, on the other hand, is much happier without others of its own kind around, as they tend to get competitive! without that distraction, though, they tend to be determined and hard workers. it can generate its own electricity to a certain extent, but you would likely need to keep a small generator onboard in order to keep it fed-- if it evolves, you won't have to worry about this, and it will in fact be able to fulfull any power needs you have on your ship by itself! even as an elekid, though, it can absorb the power from any lightning that strikes near your ship, ensuring safety from that, at least! they're extremely spirited and hyper, so you'll understand them well!
- buizel! of course, these pokemon are extremely comfortable in open waters. it can float indefinitely with its sac, or dive below the water to catch smaller water-types or aquatic plants for you two to eat, and with its tails, it can fly for short distances! they are highly curious and inquisitive, and love to try to learn complex tasks; working on a ship could be a perfect match for its sharp mind. they're highly adaptable and clever pokemon that can surely keep up with you!

Hi, my name is Jenna and I’m looking for a starter Pokémon. I’m only thirteen, but I have parental permission to get a Pokémon. I’m a theater kid and a bookworm, so I spend a lot of time in theaters and libraries. I live in a pretty small house, but I go on a lot of long walks. I do also go to school, but my school allows students to bring their Pokémon as long as they don’t disrupt the lessons. What starters would you recommend for me?
hi jenna!
please reply, reblog, or send another anon ask with your choice between these three candidates:
- foongus! these pokemon are quiet, and very sturdy little guys perfect for a young trainer! they are quite accustomed to staying still for long periods as their primary defense mechanism is mimicing a pokeball, so they do just fine in a classroom setting. you'd have to give them some soil to root into from time to time, but as far as grass-types go they require very little sunlight!
- eevee! this is a very popular choice for new trainers, and it's for good reason. these guys are a treasure to care for, and can adapt to almost any lifestyle you end up following, making them good partners for life! an eevee is a bit more active, so it will require some training to be calm in a shcool setting, but they're smart little guys and will catch on quickly!
- natu! these pokemon are very keen-eyed and cautious, and are great partners for young adventurers. they will keep an eye out for danger and protect you with their psychic abilities! a puzzle feeder mat is a must for their natural foraging behavior, and unlike most flying-types, they prefer to be on the ground rather than high up. natu are quite intelligent and can be trained to participate in plays, if you'd like!

[ update on starter pokemon season posts:
i think i have more asks than i can handle now! i'll get to as many as i can but please be patient with me and understand if i can't get to them all :)
once you've made your selection the pokemon will get drawn for you, but it might take a minute because i'm having some troubles with my tablet pen that i need to figure out! it's relatively minor but it is an inconvenience. thank you for your patience! ]
#ooc posts#starter pokemon season#also fun fact: tumblrs text editor is so broken i type everything out in notepad instead and just copy paste it over#so if formatting is ever strange thats probably why#if i try to type things out on tumblr itself i just. lose entire paragraphs at random sometimes#with no way to ctrl z them back#no idea why#sometimes the cursor also just jumps around at random and if i dont notice right away i get random garbles of letters lol

hi professor catalpa! i'm not looking for a starter pokemon, but i was wondering how you have so many different pokemon for each person? thank you! ^_^
hello anon! great question!
it's really a mixed bag. :) some pokemon are ones we have at my facility already, that have shown certain traits we look for in "starter pokemon": they're young, have easygoing or friendly personalities, are rather adaptable or easy to care for, and of course they're interested in finding a trainer! three-stage lines of grass, water, or fire types are technically recommended, but i find that restriction a bit silly. i think it's more of an old tradition than a useful guideline considering the diversity of situations people live in, so i tend to ignore it!
of course, my park is not especially large, and the number of pokemon we can keep on top of those we board for trainers is limited. in the case that we don't have any pokemon here to suit a trainer's needs, we communicate with other facilities or the pokemon league itself to look for a match! they can transfer the pokemon here very quickly nowadays, so it's easy to ensure every pokemon finds their trainer and every trainer finds their pokemon!
the process of selecting for candidates for "starter pokemon"-ship, communicating with other facilities, preparing for our beginner classes, and making sure we have the space, staff, and means to care for any pokemon new trainers board with us is long and complex, making this a very busy time of year for us! that being said, sending off new trainers with their first pokemon is a favorite part of the job for me; the fresh excitement of a new journey is so refreshing after all that work!
