Join us & PLAY with YOUR poetry!
For National Poetry Month, we’re calling all poets to play with us through #TapPoetry: A quick gif-pause game where you land on a poem that describes a part of your life! Every week we post a prompt on Facebook, Insta and Twitter (if anybody knows how we can get it crackin on Tumblr, hit us up!).
Follow the instructions on the prompt-post and your short poem may be in the next #TapPoetry game!

Introducing: Don’t Talk About It, SP!T ABOUT IT
We are excited to announce that the Prime Poetry League has teamed up with SPiT Spoken Word Theatre to bring you more performance poetry dopeness in our latest and greatest collaboration!
A quick preview of the poetry drama short film dropping March 29th:
youtube
So, everyone’s studied Shakespeare at least once in their lives, but most don’t realize that he was THE OG performance poet. Shakespeare didn’t write Romeo & Juliet for folks to quietly read in a corner; he wrote it for the STAGE.
Now, SPiT’s new play, Don’t Talk About It, SP!T About It, modernizes what Shakespeare started, combining prose and poetry into a present-day performance poetry masterpiece. Written and created by the homie Alex Alpharaoh, who competed in our inaugural poetry clash against Daniel Hees (debatable... you can vote on the video tho), the play is a LOK’s Angeles Production that started as a collection of dramatic spoken word pieces and raps, and evolved over 5+ years into a cohesive, SHARP, and gripping theatrical play!
youtube
The LEAGUE exists to collab with poets to produce dope poetry content for the internet wave, so collaborating with Sp!t to help promote the play’s April run was the perfect match-up.
Subscribe to our Youtube channel so you don’t miss out on the short film’s release. The actual play runs in Los Angeles, August 4-28 at Casa0101. Check out Casa0101.org for more info.

Performing vs Reciting Poetry on Stage | OFF PAGE
This past weekend we met up with poet, actor, director and writer of the poetic stage play, SP!T, Alex Alpharaoh. At some point, Alex started popping off about the lack of stage-techniques used among spoken word poets, and decided to show us how it’s done!
