They Said I was Free
They said I was free
When all I had
Were the chains I broke
And the hopes
Buried inside of me.
They said I was free
When I decided
To move forward
But the pain
Still followed me.
They said I was free
After giving me nothing
but my own mind
And others
Opinions of me.
They said I was free.

I met someone today who
Raised the hair on my arms
Exuded tremendous
Malice
Each second
Marched on slower
Bringing us closer in
Earnest
Readying myself
He walked closer
I felt my
Soul
Egress out
Yet still shadow hides his
Eyes from
Sight
When he passed
Every sense
Rushed back
Echoing sounds
Bounced around
Loudly
Overlapping
Over the crowd around
Dazed I
Realized I had feinted
Everyone looking
Down

Pelikan Purple
My blood froze
But my heart began to race.
My mind was foggy
But I could see it clear as day.
My stomach churned,
My eyes flickered.
The darkness seeped in,
As the ground grew farther
Was I lost in that moment?
Did I stop existing?
Am I someone else?
Am I falling?
I called,
But no echo answered.
Swallowed by nothing,
We suffer together.
No call.
No response.
Just the monster.

Shower Thoughts
I cried in the shower
For the first time in forever
It felt good
To feel the tears
Mix with the hot water
I wondered
What would I be
If my passions were fruitless
Who would I be
If I had nothing to identify with

Dandelion Dreams
You try to make a wish
On a dandelion that doesn’t exist
But before you can
They grab it from your hand
And stomp on it.
They say,
“This isn’t real.
Nothing comes from
Blowing hot air.”
And I look them in the eye
And respond with pride,
“Then why
Do you insist on floating high
In your balloon?
Tell me I can’t dream
Or hope however long it’ll be
Till I get there
Shortens to sooner?
Rather than later
I hope your balloon pops
Plummeting you down.
Hitting the ground
Dandelion puffs
floating up higher than you.
Start from the beginning
And do what we all do,
Make a wish.”
