Kitchener stitch is used to graft two pieces together with a seamless join. It’s often used for sock toes.
Lay the two pieces against each other, wrong sides facing. Use a tapestry needle and a length of yarn 4 times the length of the pieces you want to join. Enter the first stitch on the front needle purlwise and the first stitch on the back needle knitwise leaving them on their respective knitting needles. Enter the front stitch knitwise and slip it off the needle.
*Enter the stitch on the front needle purlwise. Enter the back stitch purlwise and slip it off the needle. Enter the next stitch on the back needle knitwise. Enter the front stitch knitwise and slip it off the needle.** Repeat from * to **. Think: “purl(wise), purl(wise) off, knit(wise), knit(wise) off”.

"I go now to my fathers, in whose mighty presence I shall not now feel ashamed."
One of my favorite characters and he is such an underrated one, honestly the films would not have been half as good without his iconic moments.

German short rows
My favourite kind of short rows, because they are the easiest, require the least movement and are the same no matter which side you are on or whether you are knitting or purling.
After you turn, you make a double stitch, which is subsequently treated as a simple stitch.
To make the double stitch, slip the “pivot” stitch purlwise without bringing the yarn in front. This is the equivalent of a purlwise slipped stitch and a yarn over. In practice it is done in one movement and the result looks like a double stitch. Make sure to pull the yarn to get a tight pivot stitch.

A horse amongst the lilacs
I can't wait for the lilacs to finally bloom here in Sweden, in the meanwhile I'll just have to make do with painting them. Also I recently watched Suzume so I was in the mood to paint something pretty.
