Late Message about retiring from the 2011 Kinnikuman run

God I’m tired.

For the 2 of you still on tumblr and into Kinnikuman, I gave up translating the current new Choushin arc a month ago because I started having some annoying health problems and lost interest in the current arc. Needless to say, the Machineguns picked it up after and are doing a fine job with it, and people are enjoying their work on it.

I might work on other stuff but at a snail’s pace. I’m still going through some shit and I don’t know when it’ll end.

I don’t know if all this crazy shit will ever end.

Is anyone taking over translation for the Kinnikuman 2011 series?

Not officially, but Herms98 on twitter does summaries of new chapters that cover the essentials, so that can tide people over. I guess be on the look out for any group that wants to take it up.

‘Bout time for the yearly post.

This year has been a down one for me. It’s gone up a few times and down quite a few more times and I’m not really sure what else to say about it. In regards to translation, it’s sort of a dead end. I haven’t done any new/official volume compilations for the new arc chapters, scanned much of UM or done much of U.Tag, and my Japanese hasn’t gotten much better, but at least another translation group’s popped up to help handle the load. In terms of myself, I don’t think I’ve grown positively in any way. I’m not healthier, smarter and I’m even more fearful of the future and my health, especially with the stress I’ve been having through the later part of this year.

I guess all I can say is that I hope this year’s better, because it’s not like I can just get a new 2019.

Damn the @the-machineguns are doing pretty alright.

For those not in the know, The Machineguns is this weird new Kinnikuman translation group working on Ultimate Tag. At first I thought it was nuts that they translated way out of order even for practice like I did at the start but surprisingly they’ve got a good streak going, even if it’s still sort of randomly translating chapters, they seem to be doing it at a regular pace.

Thank god, I fucking hate U.Tag, the padding and kinda bad writing just really make me peeved off. Whoever you are, Natsu and Terry, keep it up, just, y’know, maybe try a sequential order some time soon.

I might finish U.Tag 6 since I’m working on it, but after that, I’ll look on and wonder if they’ll do volume releases any time soon. That’d definitely make linking them on the catalog easier.

The Perfect Origin Suicide Rule in Volume 48

Quick post here about that part I should’ve done and fixed a long time ago.

It’s thanks to Josukeban and me for this error, where in volume 48, Psychoman says that a Perfect Origin killing themselves would kill all other Choujin.

This is a bit of a translation snafu on our parts for mixing up causation and connection.

See, here, Psychoman’s not saying that a Origin killing themself will cause all other Choujin to die, but that the only time an Origin should kill himself is when all other Choujin have died off to make up for letting it get that far.

But now I’ve updated V48 to reflect that and the chapter in question on Mangadex as well.

I’ll be making other small fixes like this to volumes and works over time, it’s just that this error’s been something that’s been a bit engrained in the fandom and I’d like it to be rectified.

UM Section now up

Quick announcement that I’ve finally set up a UM section on my release catalog with Volumes 1 - 6 up for reading, with volumes 7 - 10 hopefully ready in the future.

Just a quick appendage to clear up any confusion about the scuffle between me and nikolai-mikhailovich. 

I just wanted to clear up that whatever changes I’m planning aren’t influenced by his uninformed insults and complaints, they just came about a while after I decided Warsman probably doesn’t need an accent, and while I agreed with him on that, his reasons for it are complete bullshit. Here’s why.

His main reasons for why it didn’t work were that

- Warsman learned to speak English well enough to become a British citizen in Nisei

- Everyone speaks Japanese in Kinnikuman

- He has no real speech quirks

Reasons 1 and 2 are pretty uninformed on their own, since Nisei’s not cannon with Kinnikuman 2011 and everyone speaking the same language is just for convenience of the audience and not an in-universe thing, like how Stan Lee would pop in on F4 comics to make the Skrulls or other aliens speak English. Reason 3′s more about my personal preference, since I don’t usually translate literally and like being a bit more liberal as long as it can be justified with context, so the third reason doesn’t really relate to me.

He also tried to catch me out on Discord and ask why I didn’t give Ramenman and Buffaloman accents, which I told him that Ramenman already spoke in broken Japanese/English at his debut and grew out of it and Buffaloman’s not stereotypically designed enough for one. He also seemed to not care that I made Robin Mask and Terryman talk just as goofily or even about Brocken Jr, which gives me the feeling he’s lying about being concerned about racism and is just mad about what I did to Warsman.

I really get the feeling nikolai-mikhailovich is pretty ignorant about Kinnikuman but thinks he knows more than he actually does, which he doesn’t. Anyway, I just feel like Warsman’s got the Buffaloman problem in that his design’s more unique and not informed by stereotype so it probably doesn’t need an accent.

I never want to talk to or about this asshole again.

It’s fun to be instantly labelled by ignorant people.

If no one hasn’t known yet, @nikolai-mikhailovich has posted a series of inflammatory posts about me and my server. While I can’t say much about what’s going on with my server as I haven’t been too involved with it as of late (even though the points he brought up were either blown out of proportion or taken out of context), this person has gone on the personal attack and has called me and the scanlation group racists for giving Warsman an accent in my Kinnikuman translations, among other actual grievances.

While I do agree with them mostly on the accent being hard to read and not thematically appropriate, they’ve gone too far with personally attacking my character and the character of anyone else who works with me. When I tried asking them why they did that and asked for an apology or for them to clarify what they said on their blog post, they blocked me on Discord.

What annoys me the most about this person is that they’ve taken to actively slandering me online while hypocritically stating they were “too scared” to directly address me about that, even though I state you can on my HF blog About Page.

The point of this post is to just point out that I’m not deaf to what people’re saying (mostly) and that I do not like it when people insult others and then cowardly slink away to never properly justify themselves.
