warlock x patron romance
warlock but their patron is actually a shy introvert and their pact was that they wanted the warlock to be their friend because they were lonely. this patron is really sweet and kind and the warlock is too in return. the patron and the warlock becomes a sort of romantic subplot (i'm imagining like tadano and komi in komi can't communicate with the patron being the shy, quiet one and the warlock being more comfortable around people and helps the patron become more comfortable as well) which progresses over the course of the campaign. also it is required that they be gay.

Ranger favorite things #002
Every dragon hoards something. They feel a need, a biological urge to collect something. You are in the service of one such dragon. Verde, he is called. And he collects goblinoids like humans might collect dead butterflies. He aims to have 2 of each, a male and a female. As his ranger it is your job to travel far and wide to track, hunt down, collect and preserve 2 goblins, hob goblins, bugbears at a time. You have traveled the globe to find all different kinds of variants.

Ranger favored things #001
A wizard with a wand of true polymorph is recruiting adventurers by making them. You once were a rat living amongst the slums of a big city. Back then you had to explore and search for food, sometime track it. These instincts reside in you, making you an excellent ranger. You also had to learn to read the city and the people in the slums. Predict their behavior to stay out of trouble, but nearby enough. Trouble might mean food. You had to read all the subtle signs to predict the best path.
Your favored terrain is urban. Your favored enemies are lowlife criminals.

It's also not a plot hole if they do notice it. It's a mystery.

Side quest #002
The mayor hires you to go spy on her doctor. She was bitten by a werewolf a couple of years ago, and her doctor has been selling her potions to keep the transformation at bay. The price of the potion keeps on rising, and the doctor gives no good explanation why. When investigated further, the party might find that the potions are magical, but the effects are insignificant. The mayor is not and never has been a werewolf. The doctor is a conman who gets wealthy people to believe they need his ailments. The party might expose him, but the conman will make them a different offer. If they let him go, he will tell them the recipe of the potion he has been selling the mayor. She doesn't really need it, but if the lie is kept alive, she might pay a handsome price.

Barbarian anger issue #003
You once were a paladin for your faith and went to fight in their holy war. You got a small pension and a medal or two. But you will never be the same. Having lost a hand, you are no longer proficient with the weapons you once wielded. The nightmares are horrible. And when situations resemble your time at war, you get these panic attacks. Those result if fight reflexes, that to the outside looks like a rage. It is not rage, it is fear.

Meanwhile, those famous DMs will always advise you to find your own style. So those videos often contradict the advice the famous DMs give.
Those TTRPG videos giving DMs tips on how to be more like Matt Mercer or [insert some other famous DM here] are the exact same thing as those videos giving dudes tips on how to be alpha males.

Warlock patron #004
About 10 years before you were born, your mother sold her firstborn child to a devil in exchange for power. Now she wants to sell you as well. However, what she doesn't know is your older brother is actually doing rather well for himself down in the 9 hells. He was recently able to give you power. You're just powerful enough to break free and choose your own destiny.

Side quest #001
A local forest has a problem. Their once clear lake has transformed into a stinking thick fluid compost with mold. It reeks of rotten vegetables and is weirdly warm.
If the players start to investigate, they might find the center from where the issue seems to spread. This place in the middle of the water is warmer than the rest, but is smells less bad. In fact, there is a hint of vegetable smell here. Diving reveals a spoon of soup. A miner magic item that turns any water contained inside into a warm, dense vegetable soup. There is a lesson to be learned here about littering and its effects.
