Hey. Your brain needs to de-frag. Literally it needs you to sit there and space out.

If you want your memory or executive function to improve, stare out a window at the skyline or sidewalk or trees or birds on the electrical wires for like 20+ minutes per day. (With no other stimulation like a podcast or TV if you can manage but hey baby steps innit). If you're fortunate enough to have safe outside with any bits of nature, go stare closely at a 1 meter square of grass and trip out on the bugs and shapes of grasses and stuff.

Literally this will make you smarter. Our brains HAVE TO HAVE this zone out time to do important stuff behind the scenes. This does not happen during sleep, it's something else.

That weird pressurized feeling you get sometimes might be your brain on no defrag.

Give your brain a Daily Dose Of De-Frag.

Why is it that I am not allowed to be proud of myself. You watch me with happy eyes yet your tongue scorches my flesh.

Yet as I embrace who I am you turn with tears in your eyes proclaiming how I have ruined the relationships I have built.

Perhaps you are right in the sense I am weaker than the women before me. I cannot hold a smile as you berate my being like the women before me. Though I cry less easily than you.

You sew your trauma into me like a quilt you must perfect before the dawn, and when I show your same fears you dictate that they no longer matter.

As far as you are concerned I am a creature of hate and needless depression. You watch me, weary eyed, as I stalk around the grounds you've kept me in. Heaven forbid I find a possible escape and your lashing tongue reminds me of my place.

I'm so tired of being the villain, the bearer of your burdens, and the wings of peace in everyone's battered lives.

I hear your crys of how you have hurt me, and yet again I feel bad for causing you this pain. I know you too are a product of your own mother. How she has harmed every girl in her bloodline. And I envy how you forgive her so easily.

I know the seeds you've sown into me are but scars of your own.

But please see how you've planted seeds of despair, not carefulness. That you have not spread warnings but prophecy that you fear are unstoppable ways of the world.

I recall your stories of your strong willed youth, the heroine of your own story of abuse and romance. Perhaps one day, I too shall share my stories with my own daughters.

Perhaps your prophecies are more true than warnings.

Perhaps I had no need to fear.

Then again, cursed family trees are in our blood, are they not? Death and villains run rapid among our branches like disease, cursing every new leaf before it ever unfurls.

To be myself, to be proud. Perhaps that is the poison that started it all. Or perhaps it is the cure.
