What I have Learnt through the animation process
Through the process of making this animation was very very challenging for me , I have to say. Moving images and text is something completely new to me, especially using a timeline format. It definitely felt like I was learning a new language since I am use to the typical adobe formats such as photoshop, illustrator and indesign.
However, I am pretty proud of the outcome I came up with because I learnt so much technicality and tricks to using a timeline format. I could see myself using after effects in the future and use it along with any designing projects in the near future. I wish i worked more with coloru. But starting off with black and white helped me focus on the movement of text and transitions.

This is the final animation that I came up with, after weeks of conceptualizing and iterating the movements of the text.

smoothing out transitions
I used variations of opacity, and position changing to smooth out the transitions. Also using the blur effect for the buffer time between the words of speech.

Finding a suitable typeface
this is me testing out serif typefaces. I purposely choose from serif typefaces because they hold this luxurious manner and style which is the approach I want to go with because Kiri Te Kanawa, is an opera singer, and the classical opera is very sophisticated and holds class which is why i want to stick with a serif typeface for this kinetic type. I am debating either Abril Fatface or Lust.

visual moodboard
since I am doing a kinetic type based on kiri Te kanawa, she is an opera singer, therefore I want to base off the visuals inspired by the theme of the opera, below would be my visual research into finding how I can create a theme for my kinetic development.

Kiri Te kanawa Research
Kiri Te Kanawa, in full Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, original name in full Claire Mary Teresa Rawstron, (born March 6, 1944, Gisborne, North Island, New Zealand), New Zealand lyric soprano best known for her repertoire of works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Richard Strauss.
My transcript:
I certainly thought I was born with something but it didn't quite turn out to what it ended up to be. But I think, as everyone has said, the harder you work, the better I got. And as I’ve gone through this whole four decades now, I look back and I think, “ooh my goodness.. It was unbelievable how it worked” and I’m very grateful for all the people who gave me these opportunities but I'm also thrilled to be able to say that every inch of hard work there was it was nothing but pleasure in it. I’d really really enjoyed even the worst times which was sometimes the cold or the flu um voice throat problems you know just getting getting through performances.
As a five-week-old infant, she was adopted by Tom and Nell Te Kanawa and given the name Kiri. Tom, like her biological father, was Maori, and his wife, like Kiri’s biological mother, was of Irish descent. Kiri attended a Roman Catholic girls’ college in Auckland, where one of the nuns was a well-known teacher of singing. After leaving school, she won various singing competitions in New Zealand and Australia, and in 1966, after a period as a popular singer and recording artist, she became a student at the London Opera Centre.

Finalizing My Print Based Publication Design
Here is my finalized print based publication. I would say that I did a lot of experimenting with the fonts, text, type, and paragraph styles. This would be most challenge throughout this publication challenge. however I have learnt a lot through this journey as paragraph styles and learning hierarchy is important in any publication design, in order for it to be readable and more than just visual aesthetics.

Initial Poster design Iterations
Here are a few iterations with my chosen colour palette. I really liked how my first composition was from my developments. therefore i decide to stick with it and by exploring different styles and shapes to see the different possibilities of my poster design. I was using Mangsi glyphs to use as my shapes and and really express the the theme of typography. What I want to do next is combine my favourite visual motifs such as the strokes. use of glyphs, transformed repetition, and positive/negative space.

choosing a final colour palette
both of these poster concept designs, are the final initial concept i want to further develop, and the two colour palettes i am choosing between the two. I wanted to keep the vibrant burnt orange colour, ut choosing either between the purple or flesh tone. I figured the flesh tone with the red colour would be suitable with the mangsi typeface as I'm using as the colours harmonize with the typeface’s elegance. as for the purple, it is nice and loud but does not seem to suit the theme of the mangsi typeface.

Developing Poster designs
In these development series of my poster designs, I wanted to stick to the simplistic design style for my poster and brochure design because I want to focus on Typographic and design space. However I still want to add more texture and type features into my brochure and poster designs. However this is my developing composition concept that I want to further iterate. my main focus is the number 25 because i can see the the number 25 is being frequently used throughout the information and is the core aspect of the typografika event.
As for the typeface. I used Mangsi, a free typeface i found on behance.
Mangsi, Javanese means ink. The font offers an inked-like feel by combining clean modern serif strokes, brush strokes and the curvy line by using the ink tank. It is a modern display typeface that unites the beauty of the old lines with the clean modern lines. - https://www.epicpxls.com/items/mangsi-modern-display-typeface#:~:text=Mangsi%2C%20Javanese%20means%20ink.,with%20the%20clean%20modern%20lines.
the reason why I used this typeface is because the font is a modern serif with ink characteristics which adds that organic value into my design concept. I also feel like using a modern serif would be a playful option for me to use when designing a typographic theme print design.

Choosing a new typeface

above is a screenshot of me choosing between a few different typefaces. I was looking through behance some free display typefaces. The reason why I chose display typefaces is because I like the elegance of the typeface and how these typefaces have a modern twist to it. I also feel like the typeface really connect well with typography. I also chose some serif fonts that maybe suitable for body paragraphs.
