I'm five feet tall and I have wide hips, so I can relate to both of those things.

When we were out last night, my husband and some other guys were talking about Finding Nemo and how they liked that it was about a father's relationship with his child, because that's unusual in movies, and Disney movies involving a parent tend to focus on mother-child relationships instead — Bambi and his mother, Dumbo and his mother, Simba is close to his father but Mufasa is killed.

It was fun being able to immediately point out that this wasn't true. Ariel, Belle, and Jasmine are all being raised by single fathers. Jasmine isn't the protagonist of Aladdin, of course, but Ariel and Belle's relationships with their fathers are large parts of the plots of The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast. Pinocchio is essentially a story about a boy and his father. Both of Tiana's parents are dead, but she was closer to her father than to her mother. Hiram in The Great Mouse Detective is a single father to Olivia, and so is Chief Powhatan to Pocahontas. Game. Set. Match.

Just wanted to mention that you can meet Captain Jack Sparrow for photos and autographs at WDW during Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, a hard-ticket event running select nights in September, October, and early November. It's very cool, and I would definitely recommend MNSSHP whether you're interested in meeting Jack or not. It's pretty likely that anybody who reads Disney blogs already knows this, but I just thought I'd mention this on the off chance that it's new information to at least one person out there. He's near the Pirates attraction in Adventureland during most of the night, but not during the Mickey's Boo-to-You Halloween Parade, because Jack Sparrow is also a character in the parade and I guess everybody's heads will explode if he exists in two places at the same time...?

In the US parks it is very rare to find Captain Jack out meeting guests. In WDW he has a daily show in Adventureland; however, he never stops for pictures or autographs. Very rarely if the show is canceled for some reason he may be wandering around the Pirate of the Caribbean entrance or inside the Pirates League.

If you are willing to travel outside the US your chances of meeting Jack increase greatly. He has a regular Meet and Greet on the Caribbean Disney cruises. He is also regularly out in Adventureland at Disneyland Paris. Normally he is around the exit of the Pirates ride or the entrance of Blue Lagoon restaurant; however, sometimes you will find him just wandering around other parts of Adventureland. In Tokyo you can sometimes find him in both Adventureland near the Pirates attraction as well as in DisneySea around the ship located in the Fortress Exploration in Mediterranean Harbor

SEASONS BALLOONS of THE LAND

One of my favorite parts of EPCOT are the balloons located in the atrium of The Land.  The number of balloons and their themes have changed over the years, but these latest seasons balloons are my favorite.
