Unzen Onsen!
Hi there! I’m happynagi who live in Fukuoka. So far my foreign friends visited me and we went on the road trip around kyushu. so here i keep our trips on. Few weeks ago my friends from korea visited me. They love the hot springs(Onsen in japanese) and we’ve already been to Beppu where the one of famous Onsen in Kyushu last time, so this time we went to Unzen Onsen in Nagasaki. From Fukuoka… we took a ferry from Nagasu(長洲) in Kumamoto. It’s only 45 minutes to get to Taira(多比良) in Nagasaki. one car(3-4M) and +2 more passengers for 2,900yen. There are another ferries from Kumamoto port and takes for 30-60 minutes depends on express or normal ferry.
And then from the port in Taira it takes only 40 minutes to Unzen Onsen. There is an active volcano in Unzen, so you can walk around Unzen Jigoku Onsen(hell of the hot springs) and see big white steam smoke, its amazing! It’s shame it was raining all time when we were there… hard to walk around, soooo yeah it’s time to take Onsen in the rain! woooow super relaxing! Unzen Onsen is the sulfur hot spring. after taking the hot springs, your body is very smooth and moisture. After Unzen, we moved to Obama Onsen where we stayed for a night. Obama Onsen its location by the sea shore. so we can enjoy a seaside hot springs with sun setting! but you know, it was rainy day so…next time!
But there are outside and inside hot springs x 2(male and female) at our hotel(old japanese style accommodation), so we enjoyed night time and morning hot springs. oh so happy and relax time we had. :) Obama onsen is a bit salty hot springs and feel smooth. nice! So this time we took 2 kinds of hot springs in Unzen and Obama. We highly recommend Unzen hot springs! It was great hot springs. My friends said Unzen one is better than Beppu and Obama. yeah I agree them. Well…next time… where should we go for the hot springs… :)
