Onyx eyes got wide and sparkly as she saw THE Spider...wait hang on. This was a different one. "Are you a Spiderwoman?" She asks, tilting her head like a curious puppy. She's still rather excited despite the question.

Ghost spider had turned her head to look over at the small child before her eyes grew wide at the sight of the girls unique features.

"Yes," She was slightly quiet in shock, but spoke up a bit, "I am." Speaking with a soft chuckle, she started to crouch down to her level and as quickly as her eyes had grown they had shrunken back into place.

"What about you?" Spiderwoman sung softly, seemingly having had bounced into her squat, positioned like a poised doll. "What's your name?"

It must be my favourite comparison that in the trailer when Gwen is going through Miles' sketchbook it's all some other drawings and then she finds one of her and it stops there while in the movie she opens the sketchbook and there's the drawing of her and she keeps flipping the pages and it doesn't stop it's all her and she just stops like "bro and I thought I'm the one who has it bad but after seeing this I'm taking my hat off to you"

🛑 Major SATSV Spoilers 🛑

I recently just saw SpiderMan Across The Spider-verse and it was fucking amazing, and I love all the hype the movie is getting however I’ve been seeing a lot of Gwiles slander (Gwen x Miles) for the dumbest reasons ever, so I thought I would just debunk some of them, because it’s clear you Antis struggle with media literacy so let’s go

1. “Gwen and Miles should’ve just stayed friends they were so much better platonic”

Saying this just makes me think you watch the first movie with your eyes closed because in what world were they ever “just friends”

You can’t say they were better platonic when they were never even platonic to begin with, both Miles and Gwen had a mutual crush on one another in the first film so they were never “just friends” + the first film was literally building up their relationship

2. “Gwen betrayed miles in SATSV she’s fake”

No, No she didn’t Gwen didn’t invent the laws of the multi-verse and she doesn’t run the spider society, it’s not Gwen’s fault that Spider-Man becoming an orphan or half an orphan is a multiversal constant   there’s nothing in her power she can do to change that and Miles being chased by all the other Spider people, wasn’t Gwen‘s fault either that was Miguel’s

Saying stuff like “she should have told Miles about what was going to happen to his dad” again just makes me think you watched the movie with your eyes closed because Gwen wasn’t even allowed to interact with Miles and if she told Miles (A SpiderMan that isn’t even part of the spider society) about what was going to happen to his dad Miguel would’ve found out and would’ve kicked her out of the spider society, she was almost kicked out in the first place for even talking to him imagine what would have happened if she told him about his dad and if she was kicked out she would’ve been homeless because her dad disowned her also she literally states in the movie that she didn’t know how to tell him about it which makes sense because she hasn’t seen him in over a year so how would something that big and consequential come up in a conversation 

Not to mention, she’s young and inexperienced as a hero she’s gonna screw up and make mistakes, she was put in a completely unfair circumstance by the adults her and had an enormous amount of pressure put on her shoulders blaming the teenage girl for a situation like this instead of Miguel and Jessica or even Peter B is absolutely wild

3. “They have No chemistry”

Now this one is just completely biased because you know damn well…

These stills alone just prove you wrong because no way you watched the movie, saw the way they looked at each other and interacted and actually said “they don’t have chemistry” 💀

4. Lastly I’ve seen people hate on Gwiles solely based on the fact that it’s an interracial relationship and the fact that this is a problem in 2023 is mind boggling some of y’all are just racist bigoted people who need to just stfu

I've been totally fixated on the fact that gwen stays with hobie when she's not on spider-team missions so here's some fun notes

gwen says that hobie lets her crash in his universe- not "house" or "place" or "apartment", because hobie is homeless

she wears his chucks (how is she fitting into his shoes?) which is funny because hobie's original spider-punk costume included him wearing chucks, but in the movie he only wears boots

in the comics, the gwen stacy of earth-138 was, in hobie's words, "the greatest artist of [their] generation" who died a punk-rock legend, and hobie was/is a big fan of hers. gwen thinks his universe is cool and thinks it's extra cool that she's famous there, so his universe is probably something of a comfort place for her

gwen is apparently in his band (possibly his friend group which he calls the spider-band despite the fact that they're not actually a band and the others are not spideys), though gwen once rejected hobie's proposal of making an album together because his singing voice is awful (still, this was after they saved the world by playing punk rock together)

also, it's interesting to read "coming out as a superhero" as a queer allegory and it works in this situation as it parallels queer kids being kicked out of their homophobic homes and staying with friends in the aftermath

anyways. support the gwen and hobie besties agenda <3

PSA for Across the Spiderverse:

Do NOT see the new Spiderverse movie if you have any form of epileptic condition or conditions affected by bright lights and rapidly changing colors.

I will not be spoiling the plot or anything happening in it, but it is important that people know, because ohhh my god the AMOUNT of flashing lights and rapidly changing colors from beginning to end was so rampant that even I, a non-epileptic autistic person, got a severe headache and wild overstimulation. They do not give a warning in theaters at all that this movie is NOT epileptic friendly from the literal beginning with the beginning credits - which is so, so sad!

This is a beautifully made film, it's wonderful, it's amazing, but unfortunately, it's not a good time for anyone super affected by bright flashing lights in rapid succession, especially those seizure prone.

I wanted to put this out there BECAUSE there are no theater warnings. Idk if anyone else has put it out there, but it is SUPER IMPORTANT!!!

I wish you all a lovely day and hope they eventually have a remaster that will be much more friendly to epileptic and other people affected by bright, flashing lights.
