Frothing at the mouth wishing I could go back in time 20 years to yell at my parents asking what they were thinking every fucking year when they knew I didn't eat turkey and they'd ostracize me in my own home by making me my own meal while everyone else just went ahead and ate the traditional menu in front of me. Even worse later on when my grandmother would chastise me in front of everyone for not having a girlfriend or driver's license and they just sat there doing nothing. Every Thanksgiving as a kid was full of dread, anxiety, and stress and they just went along with all the bullshit.

At least one year my Dad tried to help by taking us all to a country club (nobody liked their menu because it was rich people food and istg nothing looked remotely like food. The only thing I could recognize were ravioli, smiley face potatoes on the kid's section, and the dessert tray) BUT AT LEAST HE TRIED AND I WILL RESPECT HIM FOR THAT FOREVER.

What I'm trying to say is that autistic kids are people too and they deserve a good holiday as much as anyone else. Make them food you know they like and enjoy it, just you and them. If they're important to you you should show them. They'll remember that forever and they will be grateful for the effort in time.

My opinion on Thanksgiving has made a total 180 and honestly I'm loving it, and all I had to do was forget the traditional menu and cut out toxic family members. Seriously just eating food you like and vibin with people you love kicks ass and I wouldn't trade that shit for the world.
