Some pages of my new art journal. I bought a calendar with lots of beautiful old plant drawings which I really love :‘) I use them for my journal and they make me so happy! I‘m currently preparing for my psychotherapy exam and was quite productive today. I‘m so glad that I finally managed to start studying after feeling lazy and exhausted the whole weekend. I hope you‘re all doing well xx

Emma, my sleep cycle is a mess and it’s making me feel uncomfortable and tired during the day. Any tips on how I can become a morning person??
Hey! Here are a few things that might help:
set a bedtime - seems super obvious but if you can set yourself a goal and find a way to track it you’ll be more inclined to complete it! Try telling yourself you’ll go to be bed an hour earlier than usual. In this printable pack, there is a monthly habit tracker so you can follow your progress!
use an app - downloading ‘sleep alarm’ was great for me. It tracks your sleep and monitors you. Not sure on accuracy but I felt much better when I could see that I’d have 8-10 hours sleep compared to 6-7 because I’d been on my phone all night! It also wakes you up between two times when you’re most awake so you don’t get that groggy/sleepy feeling!
use night shift on your phone and laptop - I find this incredibly useful! At about 7pm, my laptop and phone begin to change the displays brightness/tone so it doesn’t impact my eyes as much and I don’t feel more awake than I should. It definitely helps if I’m on my phone before bed because I don’t feel I’m alert as much. This means I fall asleep sooner and don’t feel as tired to get up early.
plan your day the night before - this is something I try to do regularly. I feel it helps get your organise and excited about the day ahead. You’re not worrying about being disorganised in the morning because things are planned and prepped.
Good luck! xx

Hello there Emma! I was just wondering if you could give me some organization tips for school. Thanks un advance :)
Hi! For organisation, here are a few things:
have a binder for each of your subjects, use plastics sleeves to separate each topic
organise your desk regularly, archive any files you don’t need to look at for a while, throw away papers you don’t need! Do the same with your computer!
purchase a planner or a bullet journal to keep a record of everything you need to do, use it daily!! If you prefer using a computer, use the calendar option or create a digital planner on Word/OneNote
organise your emails, pick a time to check and reply to emails once a day
make your computer folders super simple to organise - make when for 2017, then one for each of your classes, then one for each of your topics (remember to date the files)
make study notes throughout the year - at the end of a topic or chapter make some summary notes, flash cards or a quick powerpoint presentation
try new ways of studying such as with friends, using flash cards, making a recording of yourself, etc
breakdown your tasks - this can help you see what you’ve got to do and prioritising
try to avoid procrastinating!! use applications such as Forest (phone) or RescueTime (computer) to limit your abilities to use your technology whilst you study
organise for an assignment when you first get it - write the due due and the week before so you’re reminded before hand. Annotate the question when you first get it. When you see the question for the first time you’re usually instantly reminded of things from your course, so at that point annotate it and write everything you could possibly use. Then I generally will do a more detailed plan with my final points, any supporting evidence/citations/readings I know can help, and the approximate word limit. Then when I come to write it I know exactly what I am doing and don’t have to stress about figuring out what to do!
try to improve your productivity - here is a post I wrote with a few small tips that might help!
Hope this helps x

Hi Emma! So whenever I take notes it feels like it takes me forever to do the notes. It feels like I’m just spending all my time on taking notes instead of doing the actually studying. Can you help me out on how to shorten the note taking process or how to take notes faster?
Hey! Here are a few things you could try:
type them - perhaps not an option for you, but I wanted to include it anyway. For me, when I’m writing study notes I personally prefer typed. I would rather have the speed and editability for those long-winded notes so when it comes to actually revising from them I can annotate or simplify. This also matches what you’re saying, I felt I took last time reviewing/making notes and then could focus on actually implementing them into other study methods. It also allows you to add colour without it taking more time.
change pens - I write very differently depending on the pen I use. I’d personally recommend ballpoint! These notes took me so much less time just because of the pen!!
employ the bullet point method - I have used this for several years and think it is great. It helps keep my notes sorter and simpler. You can also use it to not write in full sentences!
don’t add colour - I love colour coding but it can be time-consuming if I’m wanting to do quick notes. You could just use black or blue! Underline areas that you’d usually colour.
use the Cornell Method - here is a description :-) This is an easy way to divide your notes to pull out the key information.
set yourself a limit with your notes - perhaps try to only write 10-20 points or only a single page. If you’re only allowing yourself a small amount, you’ll be more inclined to pick the key information.
refer to bits and pieces, rather than writing them - obviously, this doesn’t mean skip big sections but if there is something that you don’t want to copy (say a diagram), you can write“refer to … [textbook/lecture/tutorial]” and then briefly make a note of what it is.
I hope this helps xx
