For your Murder - By Seyoon (9/10)

"You shine."
A serial killer finds a shiny new toy lurking inside a depressed and repressed woman. A woman who has always longed to take revenge on her long list of enemies. That makes her a great target to blame when lots of people end up dead, but is that all it is? This particular killer isn't obsessed with blood alone. Can she keep her sanity in this mess?
Teacher Gijeong is an excellent protagonist. She really does shine.

Without going into too much detail this story has a setup that is near and dear to my heart. It is quite literally Too Real. In South Korea it's apparently acceptable to harass teachers and blame them when your child is a failure. Gijeong is currently dealing with a student who brings knives to class while he violently bullies other very young students.
Grade six students.
Its a tease and awful situation, and the child's mother handles it by constantly harassing and defaming the struggling teacher.
(This sort of culture is also growing like mad in Canada where I am. As a former private school kid yeah parents are bananas and some of them will literally try to ruin school for everybody else.)
Anyway her struggle is very real ahem.

Everything escalates and eventually we, the reader, realize something. Huh. Our protagonist is totally being stalked by a middle aged woman who hates her because she needs someone to blame. For her bad home life. For her son's vile behavior. Anything. She:
- Calls Gijeong at home constantly.
- Starts to pry into Gijeong's personal life.
- Spreads rumors about Gijeong's dating life??? Ew????? With pictures???? Like it's clear she follows Gijeong around AT NIGHT????
It all happens because Gijeong is a great victim. After all as soon as Gijeong calls a lawyer the stalker responds by....accusing her of child abuse.
(Man this is so relatable my skin is crawlingggg. Not from a teacher perspective but as a student from a dramatic af school.)
Anyway the lawyer she hires is really kind and understanding. He decides to take her case on for cheap when he sees her standing in the ran, looking listless. He recently lost a client to suicide, so his need to redeem himself like a hero is showing haha.
What a sweet first meeting!!!!
She also meets a handsome detective, who later tells her to avoid her helpful lawyer emotional support guy.

Anyway dont worry about that. How about some MORE shit that is Too Real??? Giseong is her one and only little brother. He goes to the therapist alot, and even though they barely speak she loves him. Even though life is so hard alone.
Their parents died. They were raised with their aunt. When I say raised a mean they were terribly abused by their aunt and it's clear that Giseong can't function because of his upbringing. Gijeong has to. She's the older one. The smart teacher. She has to do this.
Giseong is getting bullied at school.
He might want to kill himself.
I'm going to hold your hand here, but this might break your heart anyway. I said realistic. Giseong is a complete piece of shit. He wants her to die, and every time he goes to the therapy she pays for he calls her useless. She has no idea. The therapist is doing his best, but Giseong is both disabled by anxiety and a grade A asshole. The worst possible combo.
Gijeong isn't going to get help from anybody anytime soon!
Except her friendly neighborhood lawyer!!!! Who is helping her for free because he's soooo nice!!!!!! His office is right down the street from her apartment!!!!!
Wait a damn second.

The location of his office is just perfect. It makes stalking Giseong really fucking easy!!!! Inseop, our handsome lawyer friend, shows up at Giseong's therapy office. He asks if they take walk in's. They say no. He goes out to have a long sad boy smoke.
He's actually waiting for Giseong.
Where, oh where, is this going???
Giseong responds when he says hello. Inseop, a handsome successful looking man, is looking for a tall building. He wants to die.
Giseong takes him to the roof he personally considered jumping off of.
They have a chat.
Inseop doesn't actually want to jump.
He tells the boy he's afraid, but when he plucks up the courage...
They can die together.
The man and the boy exchange numbers, and then the plan is really in motion.
Inseop doesn't like sharing.

"I want this one."
To the extreme.
To the max.
He wanted to be the only sibling to recive love from his parents, so he got rid of his sister. Her monogrammed pen is his favorite keepsake.
He collects trophies from his victims, like any good serial killer.
He's got a long list of "things" he's really attached to. Instead of people. The pen that represented his parents love was the easiest for a normal mind to understand. The rest are just diabolical.
He got jealous one day when a client bragged about his loving family. So, he made that client a shame to his family. Until they refused to ever speak to him again and he hung himself.
His best friend was just a bug to him, but that bug had a wonderful relationship with his father. So that father died in a "construction accident" and the son, well...he's gone too.
Even his favorite teacher.
She dared to get married.
Gone.
Gijeong doesn't date. Her whole life revolves around caring for Giseong, and getting abused by her stalker. She did go on one date with a weird guy in college, but she didn't want a second date.
I wonder if that's connected to anything??????
Also it doesn't matter if I'm wrong and Inseop chose to obsess over her randomly.
He's great and she's great in totally different ways.

Gijeong starts to crack, and it's not because of Inseop. He's a professional. She doesn't stand a chance against him. No, her mental battle really is against Shitty Momma Stalker. Someone on her level, willing to use societal norms and employment to harass her.
Remember, all of Inseop's "help" is just a ploy to make her depend on him.
He's smart and experienced enough to get rid of Giseong to make her dependant. He's been stalking her with flare. With notes. He damn well knows she won't be his shiny new special thing if Giseong is around.
So, she gets fired.
Teaching gives her joy.
She loves all the kids.
All of the parents liked her too, but as you can see Shitty Momma Stalker dedicated every day of her life to ruining that. Just because of her pride...oh and her jealousy.
Gijeong is a understated pretty woman who loyally cares for her disabled brother. People admire and like her. Her enemies are loud, narcissistic losers who threaten her job while they brag about their money to bring her down.
Her only female friend is one too.
Fuck her life.
Damn.
She was already on her way to collapse before Inseop arrived.
So now she's jobless.
What's next?

He sewed all the seeds. The man has been PLOWING this field. He does his hair every time he sees her. He takes her out for soup to comfort her. He drives her places in his fancy car.
Look at me.
I'm a cool lawyer with money and you're jobless!!!!
Hello?
Hello??
WHY ARENT YOU CALLINGAAAAAAA

After she loses her job my bitch sends him a thank you note.
Bye.
Pfff-
BHWAHAHAHAHAHA.
I literally fell off my couch holy shit.
Inseop didn't manage to do enough damage before she lost her job. Giseong is still alive too. I think he got cocky because she hung out with him a few times. Maybe he planned to kill Giseong after they started dating, so they could attend his funeral together. It would have been so romantic. He never suspected that she truly only saw him as a helping hand. Not her only option. Not a love interest. After she loses her job she politely cuts ties.

So, what can be done? How can he possibly weasel his way back into Gijeong's life now?
The stakes go up.
In flashbacks we see Inseop kill people indirectly. As a reader you might mistakenly think he doesn't like to get his hands dirty. He proves us all wrong when he butchers Shitty Momma Stalker.
This embroils Gijeong in a legal mess, as she was recently fired due to child abuse complaints from Shitty Momma Stalker.
At this point her teaching career is ruined.
It's in the news.
There's articles about it.
What a messy, messy legal mess.
Sounds like somebody needs a lawyer!
He won't delay will killing Giseong this time either.
Gijeong is a tougher thing to have than he thought.
No hard feelings.
He doesn't actually hate Shitty Momma Stalker.
He even apologizes.
"I just want to see Gijeong again."
.
My final notes here will be on the rockin, fuckin adult character design. This webtoon almost reminds me of a noir mystery and the bland colors are so much like everyday office life.
It makes Inseop scarier! He really is lurking amoung us, and he's doing a super good job!
#was waiting for the review for this one#it is Such a good manhwa i hope it gets a kdrama adaptation#Inseop does tail the line of yandere and yangire and straight up psychopath tho#it is a very gripping read

act i. âswallowing the seeds of sins we sowed into the groundâ
âDid you hear that they found Annaâs body last night?â
Your movements slow to a halt as you pick up on the gossip behind you. Youâve known Anna Woodard since you were both in middle school, and she latched onto your insecurities early as a young teen and has tormented mercilessly in the years since then. Finding out that she was going to the same university as you wasnât pleasant, but it hadnât been all that surprising; though large and prestigious, the campus was still close to home, and you and Anna had been in the same advanced courses all throughout high school.
Sheâd stopped showing up to your shared sociology class last Wednesday. Itâs unlike her to skip class, even now, as a junior college, so naturally suspicion was raised once she still hadnât shown up to any of her classes on Friday. Now, on a bright and early Monday morning, youâre hearing news of her death.
âDude, what?â You risk a glance over your shoulder. You recognize the speakerâ Karasu, who youâve chatted with at a few parties. âYou mean, like, sheâs dead?â
âYeah man,â his friend, Otoya, answers. âCampus police found her body out by the old baseball field. Gutted her like a damn fish. I heard it was brutal. They had Tamara ID her and she couldnât stop crying and vomiting.â
Chills run down your spine and the hairs on your arms stand on end. Sure, you loathed Annaâs very existence and complained about her endlessly to anyone who would lend you an ear, but that didn't mean you wanted to see her deadâ and brutally murdered at that.
With a shudder, you gather the last of your things into your backpack and sling it over your shoulder. As you head toward the exit of the large lecture hall, you open your phoneâs browser and type Annaâs full name into the search bar.
STRAIGHT-A COLLEGE STUDENT FOUND BRUTALIZED ON CAMPUS
The headline sears itself onto your eyelids, the bold blocky letters dancing in front of your vision every time you blink. You scroll through the article, your eyes rapidly skimming it. You only manage to pick up on small details, but theyâre enough to make you feel nauseous: found strung up to a tree, intestines spilling out and mouth sewn shut. The brutality of it all left bile burning at the back of your throat and tears stinging at the corner of your eyes.
You startle as you collide with something both firm and soft. A pair of hands come down to settle just above your hips and steer you backward as you look up to apologize to the person you just ran into.
Alexisâs signature soft (and somewhat unnerving) smile immediately melts into concern when he catches sight of your ghastly expression. âWhatâs wrong, schatz?â
Youâve been friends with Alexis for a long timeâ since you moved to his neighborhood from your previous shitty impoverished one when you were ten. Heâs always been good to you, sweet and supportive and endlessly doting. It could be suffocating at times, and maybe even feel a little demeaning to be so coddled, but you never hold it against him since you know he only has good intentions.
You canât really imagine a better person to have run into at a time like this. Choking back a sob, you pull Alexis into a hug, which he immediately returns. His arms wrap around your midsection, his hands finding your back and rubbing soothing circles into it.
âAnnaâs dead,â you whisper, just loud enough for him to hear.
He stiffens in your hold for just a moment, asking, âWhat?â
You pull away from him gently, swiping at your eyes before looking up at him. Heâs distressed, his lips pursed and eyes pinched at the corners.
âSheâs dead,â you echo, feeling exhausted. âSomeone killed her. Slaughtered her, really.â
Alexis looks off to the side and for a moment, something complicated that you canât quite place flits over his features. Itâs gone as soon as it appears, though, replaced by sincere concern.
He places a gentle hand on your shoulder in comfort. âI know you didnât like her, but thatâs still awful.â
You sniffle, struggling to keep yourself together and avoid breaking down in the middle of the hallway. âNobody deserves that.â
Wordlessly, Alexis shakes his head in agreement. He gently tugs on your shoulder, and you allow yourself to be wrapped in his warm embrace once again.
Youâve got your face pressed into the fabric of Alexisâs knit sweater when another familiar voice calls out behind you, âYou two better cut that shit out before Erik throws another hissy fit.â
A twinge of affectionate annoyance runs through you as you pull away from Alexis again to face the newcomer.
Kaiser leans against the wall beside the two of you and gives you a once-over the second you turn around. Heâs not one for direct consolation the way Alexis isâ never has beenâ but his lips pull down slightly at the corners when he catches sight of your puffy eyes. He raises a single eyebrow in question, glancing between you and Alexis in silent demand of an answer.
Alexis responds for you. âAnna was murdered.â
Unmoved, Kaiser just raises his eyebrows more. âSo? I thought you hated her.â
You bristle, scowling as you snap, âMicha.â
He hasnât been âKaiserâ to you like everyone else, or even âMichael,â in a long timeâ truthfully, he never has been. You two grew up on the same street before your dad got custody of you when you were ten and moved you into his house, which was next door to Alexisâs. Before all of that, Kaiser was all you had. Heâs been âMichaâ to you for as long as you can remember.
The blonde rolls his eyes at you. âShe was a piece of work and you know it.â
âThat doesnât mean she deserved to getââ Your words peter out as the gorey descriptions of her body flooded back into your mind. You bite down on your lip and look away from him, staring at the floor and willing yourself not to burst into tears again.
Kaiser sighs in exasperation, but moves to stand beside you, anyway. The hand he places on your back pats you in a way thatâs the slightest bit condescending in a way Alexisâs wasnât, but you got used to Kaiserâs poor attempts at sympathy a long time ago.
âThere, there,â he says. âItâll be okay.â
You roll your eyes, but laugh despite yourself. âYouâre so fucking bad at this.â
He smirks down at you, eyes gleaming as he teasingly leans closer to your face. âBut youâre smiling now, arenât you?â
Before you can reply, a harsh voice cuts through the hallway. âHands off, Michael.â
As if a switch was flipped, Kaiserâs entire expression falls, giving way to annoyance and something else a bit more volatile. Across from him, Alexisâs own face goes eerily blank, save for the polite grin on his face.
Erik Gesner, your boyfriend of nearly half a year now, steps into view. Mustering up as much of a smile as you can, you move away from Kaiserâs touch and walk into your boyfriendâs waiting arms.
Erik frowns down at you as he takes in your state. âThe hell, these two pushing you around again?â
You huff out a laugh. âNo, Erik,â you say, shaking your head. âI just heard about Anna.â
Erik hisses out a breath between his teeth. âYeah, that sounded brutal.â He loops his arm around you, facing you away from your friends and beginning to guide you down the hallway. âBut Iâm here to keep you safe, alright? Nothingâs gonna happen to you.â
You bite back a laugh at that. To be completely honest, Erik isnât a great boyfriend in any capacity. He likes to flaunt you and make a show of affection in public, but he isnât exactly emotionally available. Not that thatâs a problem for youâ you both agreed to something casual and low-commitment. Even if others often tell you that you deserve better and could certainly get better, youâre okay with your arrangement for the time being.
That being said, Erik isnât exactly a shining paragon of chivalry. You wouldnât be surprised if he fled and left you behind at the first sign of danger.
Tossing a look over your shoulder, you wave goodbye to your friends, feeling a slight ache in your heart as youâre dragged away from them once again.
act ii. âdonât wanna find your daughter in a body bagâ
Hana Kimura is dead.
Youâd gotten along with herâ youâd taken a math class with her back in freshman year and often shared study guides and notes with each other. You grew apart after that class ended, but you still shared polite smiles and waves in passing even after you started dating Erik, who sheâd had a short fling with at the beginning of sophomore year.
Erik, who was being implicated for her death, along with the others.
Anna was a coincidence, but you started feeling a little nervous when the body of a guy who relentlessly harassed you after youâd rejected him freshman year turned up floating in the campus pool a week later. It shook you up a bit that the both victims were people with some sort of direct connection to you, but when you started freaking out about it one night, Alexis calmed you down and said it was nothing more than coincidence. Anna wasnât exactly nice, and the other guy was just an awful person, so both of them likely had lots of enemies on campus.
Hana wasnât someone you had any bad blood with, but her death still shook you, as you knew her a bit better than the other two.Â
It only shook you more when people began connecting the dots and pointing fingers at your boyfriend.
Shidou, one of your group members for lab, had outright asked you if you thought it was strange that all the victims so far had ties to you and Erik. Chigiri, your third member, had smacked him upside the head for being insensitive, but at your request, Shidou elaborated.
Heâd counted them off on his fingers. âI mean, everyone knows about your and Annaâs beef, Otis was a fucking weirdo to you, and Hana is his ex-situationship.â He raised an eyebrow as he said, âSounds like heâs got a motive for all of them. Didnât like the way the first two acted toward his girl, and maybe he just never got over Hana.â
Chigiri frowned. âThatâs contradictory. Why would he kill for her if heâs not over Hana?â
The conversation had turned into Shidou and Chigiri just arguing the reasoning behind Erik killing Hana, most of which you tuned out. You donât honestly believe Erik did it, but the fact that all of the victims were tied to you in some way nagged you to no end.
Now, youâre in one of the many dining spots on campus, seated in a booth tucked away into a far corner of the room.
Isagi, who youâd forged a close bond with after being on the same floor freshman year, sits across from you, picking at his fries with a troubled expression on his face.
With a sigh, he pops one of them into his mouth and mumbles, âI mean, I just donât think Erik would kill for you.â
âNeither do I,â you quickly agree.
âSoâŠâ Isagi pushes his food around some more. âIs there anyone that, uh, you think would?â
âWould what?â When he just stares at you in silence, you baulk. âWhat, kill for me?â
âI meanââ He shrugs. âIsnât that whatâs at the root here? The fact that all the victims are tied to you?â
âWell, yeah, but thereâs no one out there that would kill three people for me!â
Isagi purses his lips at that. He averts his eyes, poking at the fries some more.
âWhat?â You demand. Thereâs something doubtful in his expression. âWhat, you think thereâs someone that would?â
âI didnât say that,â he mutters around a mouthful of potatoes.
âYour face said it,â you challenge.
âMy face is very interested in these fries,â he says.Â
âIsagi,â you snap, exasperated. âWho do you think would kill for me?â
The boy sighs and pushes the plate away from him. When he finally meets your eyes, he appears more serious than youâve ever seen him.
âI just think itâs too obvious,â he explains. âThe first two victims are people who were awful to you, but the third is one of Erikâs exes? It doesnât make sense. Someone is clearly trying to pin it on him.â
Unease settles in the pit of your stomach. âAnd who do you think that is?â
Isagi hesitates. Staring at his hands where theyâre placed in his lap, he finally settles on an answer. âI donât know. It could be anyone. Most people donât know their stalkers. You should still be careful and⊠vigilant, though.â
He looks up at you again, eyes gleaming.
âSometimes theyâre closer than you think.â
act iii. âso i need to get out now while most of me is still intactâ
âCome on, babe!â Erik is shrieking, but in your frenzy, you can barely hear him. âDo you seriously think I did this? That I would kill someone? Kill four people?â
You didnât think that he would, not originally. But that was before Grim was brutally murdered in front of you just moments agoâ and Erik had shown up not even three minutes later.
Right after the two of them had gotten into a massive fight, no less.
Grim had gotten drunk off his ass at a frat party and started chatting with you and Alexis on some creaky couch that had certainly seen more than enough action while Erik was in the backyard playing beer pong. Grim had started talking shit about everyone he knew until he eventually reached Erik himself.
âHeâs just in it for the sex, you know,â Grim muttered drunkenly.
You sighed. It was a conversation youâd had many times. âI donât care. We both agreed to casual.â
Grim scoffed. âCasual or not, you can still do so much better than him. Like, in a boyfriend, and in a bed.â
Beside you, Alexis snorted. You elbowed him lightly before turning back to Grim. âMaybe I could, maybe I couldnât. This is just whatâs convenient for me. No strings attached.â
Grim sighed heavily. âWhatever you say. Just hit me up if you want me to match with a guy who can show you a much better time.â
âWhat the fuck, man?â
Itâd been chaos from there. Both were drunk and upset, and thereâd been yelling and poorly thrown punches before Alexis and Mensah broke them up and separated them so each one could cool down.
Erik stopped talking to Grim after that. You could tell it hurt himâ both the comments that had been made, but also the silence. Heâd been friends with Grim a long time, long before he met you, and it sucked to see him miserable without his close friend.
Grim had reached out to you earlier that week asking if he could come over and talk to you. You figured it was about what he said at the party and that he probably wanted your help smoothing things over with Erik, so you agreed.
The two of you had been talking things out over pizza in your dormâs lounge when your cell phone rang. There was no caller ID, so you sent it to voicemailâ twice. By the third call, you figured it might be someone you know from a payphone or something, so you excused yourself and stepped a bit away from Grim.
âHello?â You said, uncertain. âWho is this?âÂ
âA friend,â a distorted voice said on the other end. It sounded as if they were using a voice modifier. âI just want to talk with you, doll.â
Something between a scoff and a laugh left you. âListen, I donât know if this is a prank or something, but I have a boyfriendââ
âBoyfriend?â The voice cut you off. âIs he the one with you right now?â
A chill ran down your spine as you spared a glance at Grim, who was still seated on the couch and scrolling through his phone. Frantically, youâd looked toward the large windows overlooking the courtyard, searching for someone outside. âWhat?â
âDo you know what they did to traitors in England under Tudor rule?â
You blinked, thrown off. âWhat did you say?â
âHow they executed traitors under Tudor rule. Drawn, hung, and quartered. Dragged through the streets, strung up, then beheaded. Quite the show. But my emperor prefers the more uncommon method of executing traitors.â
You looked back out the window, but thereâs still no one there. In a trembling voice, you asked, âAnd whatâs that?â
âDisembowelment.â
Grim had screamed in agony behind you.
It was all a blur to you: the masked figure, the struggle which had ended with Grimâs innards spilling out of him, and the ferocity with which youâd defended yourself before fleeing and calling the police. Youâd made yourself a suspect by virtue of being there, but given how shaken you were and that youâd sustained a minor injuryâ a shallow stab wound in the shoulderâ the lead detectives doubted you were the culprit and escorted you home instead of placing you in custody.
They had asked if you believed there was anyone who had it out for Grim, though. With the phone conversation about traitors fresh on your mind and Hanaâs death lingering in the back of it, you couldnât help but let Erikâs name slip.
Now, you watch mournfully as heâs cuffed and dragged off campus.
âI didnât fucking do it!â He yells at the cops as they shove him in the back of the car. âSomeoneâs framing me! Itâs so obvious, use your damn heads!â
The door slams shut. You exhale shakily, shutting your eyes roughly and willing yourself not to cry.
An arm wraps around your shoulders. You lean into the touch and allow yourself to be guided into an embrace, burying your face into the other personâs chest.
âItâs okay,â Alexis murmurs softly, âhe canât hurt you or anyone else anymore.â
When you eventually pull away from him, Kaiser wraps his own arm around your shoulder and walks you toward his car.
âYou can stay with us tonight,â he says, brushing a strand of hair behind your ear. âIf it would make you feel better.â
You nod, resting your head on his shoulder.
âYeah,â you answer, âIâd like that.â
act iv. âsifting further through the wreckage, i think you just have to laughâ
âI mean this in the nicest way possible,â Isagi says slowly, âbut you are not more important to Erik than his best friend.â
Youâre sitting with him in the same booth, only now, you both look far more exhausted and frazzled than two weeks ago.Â
You swallow thickly. âApparently I am.â
Isagi calls your name so sternly that it snaps you out of your haze. His face is doing something complicated, like heâs clearly frustrated about something, but he still does his best to ease you into whatever bread crumb trail heâs picked up on.
âLook,â he starts, âGrimâs death is just like Hanaâs. Itâs meant to implicate Erik in something he did not do.â
You avert your eyes. âMaybe it seems that way, but apparently theyâve always had problems with each other. If he really did kill Anna and Otis, itâs not surprising that heâd kill Grim for telling me I could do better than him.â
âApparently,â Isagi echoes, eyes boring into you. Thereâs no food at the table this timeâ just you, and his undivided attention that settles like a weight on your shoulders. âAnd who told you that? Ness? Kaiser?â
You reel back a bit. Defensive, you snap, âWhat are you trying to say?â
âYouâve been spending a lot of time with him,â he says matter-of-factly, âsince this all started. Since Hana died and you started distancing yourself from Erik. Especially since Grim died. You know, he never did like that you were sleeping with him.â
Appalled, you hiss, âAre you implying that Micha is killing people?â
Isagi shrugs. âI mean, you said it, not me.â
You narrow your eyes at him. âI know heâs not a good person, but heâs not a fucking murderer, Isagi.â
âHeâs in your head is what he is,â he mutters under his breath, but still loud enough for you to hear and scowl at him. Isagi sighs and brushes a hand through his hair before trying again. âYou say thereâs no one out there who would kill for you. But who else would kill people who treated you like shit? Who else would try to take the guy youâre sleeping with out of the picture while theyâre at it?â
You grit your teeth. âHeâs not a murderer.â
Isagi leans closer, and one look in his eyes tells you that youâre not gonna like whatever heâs about to say next. âTell me again how Kaiser reacted when you first told him you were sleeping with Erik.â
Your stomach bottoms out, and a wave of nausea washes over you.
Barely finding your voice, you croak out, âThatâs not relevant.â
Isagi tilts his head to the side. âItâs not?â
âItâs not,â you repeat, but your voice is small, hollow.Â
Itâs like a fog in your head has been cleared, but oh, you wish it hadnât.Â
Youâve never forgotten the look on Kaiserâs face when you had off-handedly mentioned you started sleeping with Erik. Heâd gone completely still in the kitchen of his apartment, the whisk in his hand slowly dripping batter back into the bowl as it stayed suspended in the air. His back had been turned to you at first, every single muscle tight when heâd been so relaxed just a moment ago.
He turned around slowly to face you. Though his face was devoid of any emotion, the sharpness and intensity of his gaze pinned you in place, prompting the hairs on your arms to stand up as a chill ran down your spine.
âMicha?â Youâd croaked out after a long moment of silence, once he started stalking toward you.
He threw the whisk to the side. Hard. You flinched as it smacked against the wall and clattered into the sink, leaving a smear behind.
âErik,â he said, voice deceptively calm. âThat piece of shit is worth your time?â
âDonât call him thââ Your words died in your throat when he grabbed you by the chin. It was a mockery of the usual teasing way he did it, a little too tight and a little too forceful when he tilted your head up.
âLook at you,â he cooed, all condescension and no fondness. âAll grown up and experiencing new things. You think a bastard like Erik can keep you safe?â
You reached up and wrapped a hand around his wrist. âMicha, let go.â
âNever, schatz.â He tugged his arm backward, dragging you forward with it. âPeople should know not to touch things that belong to someone else.â
Youâd been about to sneer something at him in retaliation when Alexis had walked up behind him and placed a gentle hand on his bicep. He was smiling, but it didnât meet his eyesâ or the rest of his face, which was too serene, too strained.
âLetâs not do anything rash, Michael,â heâd said calmly, steering the other away from you and back to the forgotten cake batter on the counter.
A heave wracks your entire body and your arm flies up, clapping a hand over your mouth. You gasp out shakily, shutting your eyes and struggling to both stabilize your breathing and fight down the vomit threatening to spew out of you.
âHey, hey, hey.â Isagi rushed out of his side of the booth and slid into yours, rubbing your shoulders in a soothing manner. âBreathe, just breathe. Itâs gonna be okay.â
âNo itâs not,â you whisper, hysterical. âItâs not, Isagi, itâs notââ
âWhatâs going on here?â
Isagi stiffens beside you. Slowly, you exhale before peeling your hands away from your face.
Kaiser stares at you criticallyâ or, rather, at the hands that were rubbing at your shoulders, now frozen in place.
Isagi quickly but calmly moves away from you, shifting toward the other end of the booth and putting some space between the two of you.
âPanic attack,â you croak out. âHavenât been sleeping well sinceâŠâ You trail off and make a vague gesture in the air, expecting Kaiser to know what youâre talking about.
Itâs not like youâre lying; youâve been getting little to no sleep every night since the cops detained Erik, and itâs something both Kaiser and Alexis can attest to. After all, youâve been staying with them in their apartment since it happened, feeling much safer knowing they would be around in the event that Erik managed to slip out of custody or, worse, that he wasnât the killer at all and they came for you next.
Needless to say, that arrangement would be changing in the very near future.
Kaiser side-eyes Isagi one more time before looking back at you. It may not be noticeable to anyone that doesnât know him well, but you can see the way his face softens the slightest bit. âYouâre too stressed. Letâs go home, liebling.â
Your heart pounds against your ribcage, threatening to rip itself out of your chest and save itself. You shake your head, careful to make the action less frantic than you feel. âNo, thatâs alright,â you decline softly. âIâll stay with Isagi until the house party.â
The side-eye morphs into a full-fledged scathing glare that Isagi, impressively, does not waver under.
When Kaiser refocuses on you, the familiar impatience and disdain have returned. âIf youâre not feeling well, you should come home. And not go out tonight, either.â
âItâs alright, Micha.â You smile half-heartedly. âTheyâve got Erik now, so thereâs nothing to worry about, yeah? I could use something to take my mind off things, anyway.â
When he opens his mouth to refute you again, you cut him off again by getting to your feet. âIâll see you there, okay?â You turn and nod at Isagi. âLetâs go. I want to try that dessert place you were telling me about.â
Isagi nods back and rises as well. Kaiser doesnât budge when he tries to leave the booth, forcing the other to get uncomfortably close and meet his eyes as he exits.
When you do the same and try to brush past him, he catches hold of your arm, his grip not too tight, but tight enough that it pulls you back.
Steeling yourself one more time, you force another smile and place a gentle hand on top of his. âIâll see you,â you repeat, âI promise.â
Deep blue eyes bore into yours, completely unreadable.
He lets goâ and unbeknownst to you, youâre a little too eager to slip away.
act v. âthereâs a final girl / does she look like me?â
The phone is ringing.
You can hardly hear it over the buzzing static in your own ears. The entire house reeks of blood, the scent of rust stinging your nostrils and prompting bile to come bubbling up your throat.
But itâs the scene at your feet that might actually bring you to vomit.
Thereâs a puddle of blood, far away and removed from the gore and viscera littering the rest of the house. You donât even know whose house youâre in, youâd just shown to get drunk out of your mind and forget, even for just a moment, what your life had become over the past few weeks.
In the puddle, shredded and torn, is the hoodie Isagi was wearing back at the campus diner.
Isagi himself is nowhere to be found.
The phone is still ringing.
Hesitantly, you pick the phone up. Flashes of Grim getting slashed at come to your mind as you hiss out, âWhat the fuck do you want?â
âPoor little lamb,â the altered voice croons into the receiver. You grit your teeth in an attempt to stifle your own sobs as they continue, âWhereâs your shepherd gone?â
âListen, asshole,â you mutter, âI donât know what you think youâre getting out of this, but if you seriously think blood and guts is the best way to woo a girl, your mother did a shit job raising you.â
A burst of distorted laughter explodes from the receiver, and you recoil away from it slightly.
âAw, thatâs cute,â the voice trills.
âWhatâs cute?â You snap. âThe fact that Iâm a normally programmed human being?â
âThe fact that you think my mother raised me,â the person drawls. Thereâs a humming noise, then they add, âThat, and the fact that you think you have a choice.â
You creep over to a nearby drawer and rummage through it. Relief and adrenaline flood your veins when your fingers brush over what feels like a pocket knife. âWhatâs that supposed to mean?â
âIâm well aware of how to be a gentleman, sweetheart,â the person says, chuckling. âDo you think this is me asking nicely?â
You press down on the latch, and the blade comes swinging out from the hilt. Balancing the phone between your cheek and your shoulder, you brandish the knife before you and creep across the living room, toward the cracked open garage door.
âWell, youâll have to forgive me if my rejection is a bit harsher than usual,â you say sweetly into the phone.
You pause in front of the door as another laugh pours in through the receiver. âGive me your worst, angel.â
The door bursts open, and you slash at the masked figure before they can even make a move at you. The blade, small but sharp, cuts cleanly through their shoddy costume and across their chest, leaving a thin but deep wound behind.
You leap back while you have the upper hand. The other person is much larger than you and could overpower you easilyâ assuming itâs who you think it is, he has in the past, albeit playfully and meaning no real harm.
Such is not the case in this situation.
Your heart starts pounding a little faster when they take out their own knife, twirling the hilt between their fingers effortlessly as they take their time crossing the room and closing the distance between you two.
If you werenât so tense, you wouldâve rolled your eyes. Even in such a high-stakes moment, he canât help but be a show-off.
You adjust your grip on the knife and hold it out before you as you back toward the opening leading to the hallway and kitchen. In a shaky voice, you call out. âCut the shit, Michael.â Youâve never said his name with such loathing in your life, and it makes him stop dead in his tracks. âI know itâs you.â
He twirls the knife one more time, then charges at you.
In a flurry of movement, you slash at him again, nearly tripping over yourself as you run backward, struggling to keep some distance between you when heâs closing it so fast. You grunt when your lower back collides with the kitchen, but grab hold of it to kick your legs out and ram them into his chest as hard as you can. Itâs not enough to bring him down, but he stumbles backward a bit, the wind knocked out of him.
You waste no time sliding off the counter and making a mad dash for the nearest door, but youâre simply not quick enough. Heâs on you in an instant, wrapping an arm around your waist and pulling you back into his chest. You flail wildly in vain.
A scream rips itself from your chest when he sinks the knife into your thigh.
He shushes you, and without the voice modifier, thereâs no more questioning who the man behind the mask is. âStop fighting and itâll hurt less, hm?âÂ
He brings his free hand up to your face, placing his palm over your mouth and gently stroking your cheek with his fingertips. Your scream is muffled this time as he takes the knife out and plunges it into your other thigh. Tears pour down your cheeks as you writhe around, the searing pain making you more desperate despite the fact that you have no hope of escape.
âIt could have been so much easier, you know,â he whispered against your ear as he traced the knife along your arm. âAll you had to do was look at me. But even when Erik was gone, youâd already found someone else to latch onto. And Yoichi of all people.â He adds pressure to the blade, causing you to wince as it shallowly pierces the flesh of your arm. âBut that wonât happen anymore, will it, liebling?â
A sob wracks your body as you shake your head.
Kaiser hums in approval. âGood.â
Thereâs a loud shout somewhere behind you, and before you can process whatâs happening, Kaiser is cursing and slumped over on the floor, his hold on you going slack.
You rush away from him, scrambling and crawling along the floor. You scream when someone reaches for you, clawing at them with your nails.
âHey, woah! Itâs just me!â You stop, snapping out of your frenzy. Isagi stands before you, a metal bat in his hand. âItâs just me.â
Another sob leaves your body. âHoly shit,â you whisper. âYouâre alive.â
Isagi smiles down at you. âIâm alive,â he says, then kneels down and holds his forearm out to you. âLetâs get the hell out of here, yeah?â
With both hands, you grab onto his arm, pulling yourself into his chest and trying to stand and steady yourself despite your wounded thighs. Your vision is obscured like this, but Kaiser is still on the floor, and you feel safe with Isagi.
And then, you hear him scream.
Isagi collapses to the floor, taking you with him. The back of his knee has been slashed at, and a masked figure stands over him, already plunging a knife into his chest.
A masked figure that is not Kaiser, who is still struggling to get to his feet.
A horrified shriek leaves you when the new figure goes to stab Isagi a third time, and your hands shoot out before you know what youâre doing. You catch the blade, another pained scream ripping itself from your chest as it cuts into your fingers mercilessly.
The other masked person retreats back, but gently reaches a hand out toward you, seeming remorseful for harming you.
In your desperation to save Isagi, youâd lost sight of Kaiser, something you realize when a hand grabs a fistful of the back of your shirt and drags you away from Isagi.
âStop!â You cry out, thrashing as your bloody legs glide across the tile floor. âStop, donât kill him! Please, just let him go!â
âExecute him,â Kaiser growls above you.
Without hesitation, the other figure resumes plunging the knife into Isagiâs chest and midsection. Your own screams and sobs drown out his. At some point, his body goes completely still, his thrashing and fighting back fizzling out until the only movement is caused by the ferocity with which the other person is stabbing him with.
âStop,â you murmur, curling in on yourself. âStop. Heâs dead. Heâs already dead.â
The sound of squelching flesh stops suddenly. Itâs replaced by heavy footfalls, and you bury your face into your hands more when they come to a stop in front of you.
A hand cards gently through your hair. âItâs over now, schatz,â a soft, familiar voice says, and you go completely still. âIâm sorry you had to go through all that, but itâs over now.â
Bloody gloved hands wrap around your wrists and guide your hands away from your face. You watch in terror as Alexisâs kind face comes into view, pristine and clean now that mask is removed.
You hiccup, a new round of sobs starting despite you having no more tears to shed.
As Alexis gently cups your face in his hands, Kaiser presses a kiss to your thrumming pulse, before moving his lips to the shell of your ear.
âYouâll look at us now, wonât you?â

Please help my sister get a new laptop
This morning at 5 AM, my sister's laptop died in the middle of her using it. Honestly, it was a long time coming. Over the past few months, it's been getting harder and harder for her to use it, and considering it might be over 10 years old, she has long been overdue for an upgrade.
The problem is that it died just after I paid our rent, which means we don't have money to get her a new one while also still being able to get groceries throughout the month. Money has been very tight for us for a while now, with my work PC having died not too long ago as well.
With us both being down a computer for work, I don't have much choice other than to ask for help. I'm really sorry to do this, I know it's not what anyone follows me for, but I don't see any other options.
I don't want anyone feeling guilty if you aren't able to, I know times are hard for a lot of us right now. You taking the time to read this is plenty of support.
Here is the Ko-fi link and thank you for your time
And remember, reblogging helps!

twst overblot boys survey

Over the years, Iâve noticed trends in behaviors and attitudes between fans of particular Twst characters and Iâve wanted to know if there was any evidence to back up these observations. In other words⊠Are individuals with certain traits more likely to gravitate to one Twst character (in this case, one of the overblot boys) over the others? And maybe if this survey is successful, Iâll ask the same of the rest of the castâ
And so I thought to collect this data, analyze the results, and share the final report with the public. This will be done with the help of a friend (Mod Jeido from twstgameplay) that was also curious about the topic. The analysis itself will be conducted using JMP, a statistical software.
If youâre interested too, then please fill out the following form and/or share it on socials. (I donât have a Reddit or Tiktok and Iâm not active on Twitter so Iâs appreciate it a lot!!) The more responses collected, the stronger the conclusions we can make!
The form will close on July 15th, so please get your responses in before then!
#really looking forward to the findings!#honestly fandom itself opens up such interesting discussions#especially regarding a person's interest or favouritism of specific (fictional) charcters#what does affect a person's tendency to gravitate towards a specific character more than another one?#so many questions hoho

Dialogue Comparison: Book 7-10
No big changes! đ„ł
Just some small points, such as riding dolphins in Coral Rush being changed to riding squids on EN đŹ -> đŠ ?
--
Original Floyd: Eh, whatever. I'm not interested in land anymore anyway......
EN Floyd: Eh, whatever. I ain't interested in school or anythin' up on land anymore.
For the curious: Floyd's line about he and Jade hatching was written as "eggs," plural, on EN, but he does not specify in the original game, so this does not invalidate the theory that the twins possibly hatched from the same egg.
We have seen this before, with Jamil:
The English language often forces speakers to use plurals or singulars, but the Japanese language does not, so there was a reveal during Firelit Sky that the "middle school friend(s)" that Jamil often references may have always been one friend, not a group.
EN had to guess in order to adhere to English-language grammar rules, generally assuming it was a group, but we do not technically know.
For this same reason Floyd may mean "egg" or "eggs"!
EN Floyd compares the students standing close together to takoyaki on EN, but in the original game he compares them to dango đĄ
#lmao the dolphin to squid thing#did the translator misread iruka as ikura??#edit: squid is ika my bad#wonder if they skipped a character then#so i(ru)ka was misread as ika or ilka and the translator was just confused

This might have been asked before and I apologize if that's the case.
But what's your opinion on the fact every adaptation seemingly only wants to cover the mainline story (besides the 4koma and Anthology)?
Of course, we have the source of the game, then the manga, novel, and now the anime. All have the same starting point and will hopefully adapt the later books. I do enjoy the unique changes with the actual implementation of a unique Yuu in each story but the overarching plot is the same and changes are not made to the story *cough cough book 2 what could've been cough cough*.
While I'd prefer new content or the adaptions of some events, I understand why the main story is some of the easier or more acceptable content to adapt.
Before the news was revealed that the anime would adapt the main story, I had occasionally expressed that I would prefer if the anime had original content (ie the everyday lives of the students or new lore) or at least covered lesser known content such as vignettes and event stories. At this point, the main story has been repeated ad nauseam so the only novelty is seeing the scenes weâre already familiar with animated.
Another issue (if you can call it that?) is that the main story being adapted in so many different forms also means the main story will adapt all the flaws that already existed in the original to begin with. You canât really do much to deviate or âfixâ those flaws đŠđŠ
Iâm sure itâs much easier on the animators to work with the completed main story rather than come up with new stuff (that might contradict canon) or deal with vignettes + event stories when they continuously keep being âadded ontoâ (via updates and reruns). I feel the main story is also the most âiconicâ, so it makes sense for marketing purposes that this is the direction the anime took.
#yeahh as an intro point adapting the main story is better#hopefully if the anime does well we could have a spinoff season with the events and vignettes animated#but obv that's for the far far future
