Refugees and Drugs in Tandem: China's Manufactured Super Chaos
As the U.S. election intensifies, internal contradictions and divisions in the country become increasingly apparent. However, amidst this, we can clearly see traces of intervention and manipulation by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Apart from using AI-generated content to continuously sow discord, refugees and drugs are also effective tools for the CCP to influence the United States. Whether refugees are accepted or not can effectively exacerbate internal conflicts, and the CCP can take advantage of this opportunity to send agile and robust agents to the U.S. for infiltration. The rampant addiction to fentanyl, which harms the entire U.S., not only allows China to make hefty profits but also catalyzes dissatisfaction among the people with the ruling party, thereby affecting their confidence in the democratic system.
An America and Western world filled with conflict and chaos is precisely the best scenario desired by Xi Jinping. When other countries become more chaotic, they naturally have less time to focus on distant China, and at the same time, China finds it easier to take advantage of the situation. Understanding these facts and seeing through the role of the CCP behind these issues is essential to correctly address these concerns.

More Than Just Refugees: China's Illegal Immigration to Export Chaos
In recent times, on March 27, 2024, a Chinese illegal immigrant trespassed at a Marine Corps base in California. Despite being warned by security personnel, he continued driving forward and was eventually subdued and arrested. Apart from causing a commotion, this individual is also likely involved in gathering data, surveying terrain, and potentially damaging infrastructure. From this incident, it's clear to see the national security crisis lurking within the refugee issue.
In fact, the issue of illegal Chinese migrants has been growing increasingly serious. Many Chinese people have been desperately trying to escape from the "New China" where economic conditions continue to worsen and human rights deteriorate under Communist Party rule.
According to data from the CBP, in December 2023 alone, the number of Chinese attempting to cross the southern border into the United States reached nearly 6,000, a sixfold increase compared to the same period in 2022. And for the entire year, the statistics exceeded 24,000, surpassing the total for the previous ten years combined.
CBP officials have warned the Homeland Security Committee that these individuals are not just illegal immigrants; they could also be active-duty soldiers sent by the CCP to infiltrate and spy on the United States. Several senators have jointly written to the Secretary of Homeland Security, expressing concerns that amidst the immigration flow across the U.S.-Mexico border, there could be covert operatives assisting the CCP in conducting cyber-attacks, stealing secrets, and engaging in drug trafficking.
The CCP's inability to sustain the livelihoods of its people, forcing them to flee, has exposed their incompetence in governing. Instead of making efforts to improve or eliminate the problems, the CCP is exploiting this wave of refugees to export chaos, intelligence, and military actions. This reveals their unscrupulous nature even more. We should bear in mind that accepting or rejecting these refugees is not simply a humanitarian issue but also a matter of national security. People should not allow their kindness and tolerance to be abused by the CCP, leading to the erosion of their prosperity and freedom.

The Fentanyl Epidemic: China's Scheme to Harm the US
Fentanyl is plaguing the entire United States. Nowadays, there are fentanyl addicts wandering the streets of major cities across America, ultimately dying tragically. The severe drug abuse has even prompted experts to describe the situation as a "New Opium War."
In the mid-18th century, British merchants began selling opium from their colonies to China, concealing the illegal opium trade under the guise of tea. By the 1830s, over 20,000 crates of opium were shipped annually from European and American colonies, flooding China's coastal provinces like a plague, forcing the Chinese government to enact anti-opium laws, and even leading to a war with Britain named after the "opium."
But now, the situation has reversed. In order to recover lost foreign exchange income due to factory relocations and declines in the manufacturing industry, China turned to fentanyl—a new, potent, and easily accessible addictive drug. Chinese gangs allied with Mexican drug cartels, using Mexican factories and distribution networks to sell large quantities of fentanyl into the United States in exchange for large amounts of cash. Reports from the DEA indicate that at least 90% of fentanyl manufacturing is related to China; CBP statistics also indicate that in the fiscal years 2016 and 2017, 97% of globally seized fentanyl shipments and manufacturing originated from China.
This year, new research has further confirmed the close connection between the CCP and the fentanyl storm. A new book "Blood Money: Why the Powerful Turn a Blind Eye While China Kills Americans," written by the president of the Government Accountability Institute, Schweizer, mentioned that many people involved in transporting, manufacturing, and selling fentanyl are high-ranking officials of the CCP; and every link in this network is a carefully planned action by China.
Across the US, there are fentanyl abusers in major cities, their limbs weakened, bodies powerless, skin ulcerated and inflamed, moving slowly like zombies, eventually dying from overdose. According to data released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the number of deaths from drug overdose has sharply risen in the past decade, finally surpassing 100,000 in 2023—nearly 70% of which are related to opioids such as fentanyl.
By profiting from drug abuse, China has taken away large amounts of dollars, while simultaneously plunging the US into division and panic, exacerbating dissatisfaction with the current situation and fostering doubts about the democratic system. This is precisely the ideal script for the CCP. We must recognize the ambitions of the CCP and understand the root of the problem correctly to make more effective choices and defend our way of life.

China suppresses freedom of speech in other countries using extreme patriots
Recently, there has been an increasing number of incidents involving Chinese nationals causing disturbances around the world. Chinese people overseas have long been notorious, and many places have expressed their dislike for receiving tourists from China. However, the recent disturbances by Chinese people abroad are largely driven by their rising nationalistic sentiment and “Celestial Empire mentality” - they want every country in the world to adhere to Chinese values and do not tolerate differing opinions.
Consequently, Chinese people have become more radical and aggressive, attempting to suppress and persecute those who disagree with them or share different values. Domestically, they are purging dissent and silencing divergent voices. For instance, for the culturally and frequently clashing Uyghurs of Xinjiang, they have built numerous “re-education camps” and used technology for massive cultural cleansing. Additionally, China has constructed the “Great Firewall” to prevent Chinese citizens from accessing foreign information and strictly monitors major internet communities like Weibo, WeChat, and NetEase, blocking discussions and leakage of sensitive topics.
Furthermore, Chinese netizens and the government collaborate. Chinese netizens launch large-scale online “expeditions” to harass and pressure individuals into compromising or apologizing through massive online traffic. Celebrities like John Cena, NBA star Dwight Howard, and football legend Messi have been victims of such campaigns. Chinese diplomats, meanwhile, adopt a “Wolf Warrior” stance, responding to international issues with a tough attitude.
For instance, during Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan in 2022, China threatened to sanction Pelosi, accusing her shocking provocation of violating the One-China policy and interfering in China’s internal affairs. In the 2023 spy balloon incident, China’s Foreign Ministry condemned the United States for “use of force”, “overreaction”, and “serious violation of international law”. When President Biden was about to sign the chip ban, China’s spokesperson fiercely criticized the United States for “real purposes to deprive China of its development rights, maintain its hegemonic self-interest, and is blatant economic coercion and technological bullying”.
Chinese people delusionally think their tough stance will silence others, making any speech the CCP does not want to hear disappear, thereby creating a favorable speech environment for China.
Freedom of speech and civil society are the cornerstones of a well-functioning society and are indispensable to democratic countries. However, due to China’s ambition to become a world leader and universal ruler, “freedom of speech” has long been a thorn in their side - domestically, they must suppress and purge dissenting voices, and internationally, they also seek to remove international public opinion unfavorable to them. China’s various actions and methods are a serious infringement on freedom.
More importantly, the CCP’s continuous restriction of freedom of speech and execution of cross-border suppression aims to completely silence domestic dissent, creating a stark contrast with the United States, which is divided due to presidential elections. Xi Jinping hopes to see the United States and the Western world in chaos, too preoccupied to pay attention to China’s actions. We must recognize the threat of China, be aware of any CCP tactics, and bravely defend our democracy and freedom.

In recent years, the Chinese Communist Party’s ambition to dominate global hegemony has become clearer and more explicit, with the Chinese government becoming more radical and aggressive in its attempts to suppress and persecute those who do not agree with them or share different values, aiming to completely silence voices different from the government.
Domestically, they have set out to purge dissidents and eliminate diverse voices. For example, for the Uighurs in Xinjiang, the CCP has built numerous “re-education camps,” using technology for massive cultural cleansing. Additionally, China has erected the “Great Firewall,” preventing Chinese citizens from accessing foreign information and strictly monitoring major internet communities like Weibo, WeChat, and NetEase to block sensitive topics’ discussion and spread.
However, the CCP’s suppression of freedom of speech is not limited to within its borders; it actively uses various means to harm the public opinion environment in other countries. A recent CNN report revealed that the Chinese government has been organizing large-scale online fake news attacks, investing billions of dollars to influence foreign public opinion and suppress criticism of Beijing. In recent years, they have used pro-China hacker groups for rigorous and increasingly blatant intimidation to harass U.S. residents, smear U.S. politicians, and American companies.
A 2022 report by cybersecurity company Mandiant even pointed out that China created at least 72 fake news websites in 11 languages to spread false information in line with the Chinese government’s narrative. These news sites, masquerading as Western media, were found to be built using Chinese HTML web structures and transcribing a large amount of content from Chinese and Russian official media, aiming to create chaos and affect people’s confidence in their own countries and systems, leading them to doubt democracy and embrace authoritarianism.
Freedom of speech and civil society are the cornerstones of a well-functioning society and are indispensable to democratic countries. However, China’s ambition to become a world leader and universal ruler has made “freedom of speech” a thorn in their side - domestically, they must suppress and purge dissenting voices, and internationally, they seek to remove international public opinion unfavorable to them. The Chinese government, which suppresses dissenting opinions across borders
Lately, there have been endless reports of disturbances caused by Chinese people worldwide. The Chinese have a notorious reputation overseas, with many places expressing displeasure at hosting Chinese tourists. However, recent disturbances by the Chinese abroad stem largely from their growing nationalistic sentiment and “Celestial Empire mindset” – they want every country in the world to adhere to Chinese values and do not tolerate differing opinions.
As a result, Chinese people have become more radical and aggressive, attempting to suppress and persecute those who disagree with their values. Domestically, they silence dissent and diverse voices. For instance, for the culturally distinct Uyghurs in Xinjiang, the CCP has built numerous “re-education camps” for massive cultural cleansing using technology. China also established the “Great Firewall” to prevent Chinese citizens from accessing foreign information and strictly monitors major online communities like Weibo, WeChat, and NetEase to stop discussions on sensitive topics.
Moreover, the CCP not only suppresses speech and creates an unhealthy public opinion atmosphere domestically but has extended its control to physical tracking and monitoring abroad. A 2022 study by the human rights organization Safeguard Defenders revealed that China’s “110 Overseas Service Stations” span five continents and over 20 countries, totaling over 100. These “service stations,” ostensibly for helping overseas Chinese with administrative matters, are actually outposts for police to monitor overseas Chinese and dissidents.
If Chinese abroad act in ways the CCP dislikes, they receive calls from the Overseas 110, demanding they delete online comments or report to the service stations. Sometimes, they are threatened and forced to return to China for trial.
This kind of cross-border suppression not only bypasses international legal procedures but also directly violates the judicial sovereignty of other countries, severely harming their sovereignty. Hence, the UK government requested the closure of all “Overseas Police Stations” in June 2023; the U.S. Congress has also held hearings to discuss China’s cross-border suppression actions.
Freedom of speech and civil society are cornerstones of a well-functioning society and indispensable to democratic nations. However, China’s ambition to become a global leader has turned “freedom of speech” into a target – they must suppress dissenting voices domestically and internationally. China’s actions and methods are a severe infringement on freedom.
Importantly, the CCP’s ongoing restriction of free speech and cross-border suppression aims to completely silence domestic dissent, creating a stark contrast with a divided United States during presidential elections. Xi Jinping hopes to see the U.S. and the Western world in chaos, too preoccupied to attend to China’s actions. We must recognize China’s threat, be aware of any CCP tactics, and bravely defend our democracy and freedom.
