Being transgender is more than just "not identifying with your AGAB."
^This definition is very limiting, and has little room for intersex perspectives. In fact, it also doesn't align with many perisex non-binary/genderqueer experiences (Example: Perisex multigender people who fully identify with their assigned gender, while simultaneously aligning with other genders.)
And sure, some intersex people have a consistent assigned gender, depending on their variation, and how it affects their body. But many intersex people have a COMPLICATED experience with how they were assigned and viewed growing up.
Intersex people can be given a coercively assigned gender at birth (CAGAB), which may not align with their future puberty, or how they are viewed socially. [Example: A person born with ambiguous genitalia, who is given unneeded non-consensual surgery to make the genitalia more "binary", and assigns a gender based on that non-consensual procedure.]
Intersex people can be given an assigned gender at birth, but a reassigned gender after birth (RGAB.) [Example: An AMAB intersex person, born with a penis/penis-like genitalia, however later they are discovered to have more "feminine" physically traits, and are reassigned female and raised female because because its "easier" or "more fitting"]
Intersex people can be given a socially imposed gender (SIG) [Example: A person who is "female" in every way, but during puberty is discovered to have hyperandrogenism, and develops a more masculine-associated body because of it - oftentimes, that person will be mistaken as a male by society, or treated as AMAB by those around them.] Some people even experience multiple SIGs at the same time, depending on the scenario [Example: being expected to behave as 'male' by some people, and 'female' by others, depending on how they are dressed or what events they attend.]
Are you going to tell someone who was given a CAGAB the opinion of the doctor who mutilated them is more important than theirs? That a person who was CAMAB, but originally had a vulva, that they cannot identify as transmasculine?
Are you going to tell someone who was AFAB, but RMAB that they can't identify as a trans-woman because of their "original assignment", which is no longer relevant to how they were raised?
Or, on the flip side - are you going to tell someone who was AMAB, but treated as 'female' from their SIG, that they can't identify as transfem, because even though they are AMAB, they weren't "treated as AMAB"?
And what about intersex trans people who were AXAB (assigned X at birth?) What about people who were UAB (unassigned at birth?) Are you going to deny or affirm their transness based on your view of them?
Transgender and cisgender aren't mutually exclusive terms.
Personally, we think transgender should be defined as "people who identify against [eurocentric] historically-imposed expectations of gender."

hiii! anon who asked about the xeno/neo-agab thingy! too anxious to reblog and respond but thank you for your response, i appreciate it a lot! your input was still very valuable, it was still reassuring so thank you so much again :3
Glad to be of service! :)

Thank you for your input!
The reason you use them makes sense to me personally. I also believe in the abolition of birth assignment, but that that will take time.
I do think it needs to be treated with respect, but that good faith use is 100% possible. Especially since anon seems to be intersex themself.
apologies if this is silly or has a well known answer, but this is something i want to ask someone without feeling like i'm gonna INSTANTLY be killed (/silly but also genuine), i'm just super anxious about it and am really scared of doing anything wrong or being offensive or anything
so before asking, i want to give a long explanation (sorry 😭). i was assigned female at birth, but i am likely intersex considering a bunch of symptoms of hyperandrogenism i have and the fact my mother has an intersex condition that causes hyperandrogenism that could possibly have passed down to me (i will be seeing a doctor to talk about this in a couple weeks too), and i feel like not only does afab not describe me but it also puts down my entire experience as a child. long story short, i was bullied for my masculine features and then pushed out and treated like a boy because of them.
the label of being afab just doesn't make sense to me in my personal experience because even if i was assigned female and have "female parts", i was never treated as female, and never really felt i was female in the sense of it being my actual sex since a young age, i didn't really feel like i was assigned correctly since almost everyone around me treated me as if i wasn't a girl.
so here's the actual question; is this a perfectly valid reason to use xeno/neo-agabs? again might be silly to ask this (usually i try to think by "it's in good faith and it's the best label i have, i should do whatever i want") but i'm really anxious about this in particular considering a lot of people around me i've seen and asked seem to have issue with neo-agabs.
thank you for even bothering to read this to the end, i really appreciate it, thank you thank you thank you!!!
I know that neoAGABs and xenoAGABs are very controversial in the community, and that there’s a lot of discourse about them. I’ve been nervous posting about them too much because the first time I ran this blog, I attracted a lot of negative attention for supporting their use. I don’t use them myself, so I’m not an expert on them either.
I personally think it would be a completely good-faith use of them to use them to reclaim your personal experience and reframe it in a way that makes sense to you. I don’t believe that I should be able to tell you what to do. And if you’re drawn to neoAGABs and xenoAGABs, you should be able to use them.
But input by someone who actually uses them might be more valuable.

I try to avoid bringing discourse here. But given that so much of it has spiked recently…
AGAB non-conforming people, stand strong. It’s not fair. None of this is. I know. I’m sorry.
I’m going to go on a blocking spree now.

A bit eyestrainy. But pretty! Thanks for coining this!
I should make a transandrogyne term. For one of my headmates.

Sour Candy Transxenic/Transxenine is a label similar to Honeybee Transfem (link) and Coffeebean Transmasc (link), it is an is an AGAB-less transxenic label for those who don't want to disclose what they were assigned at birth, want a label that isn't AGAB focused, or any other reason, such as being intersex.

Some thoughts on Coffee Bean Transmasc as a label.
I just saw a post by someone saying that they felt like there wasn't a point to identifying as coffee bean transmasc because they already talked about typically assigned afab struggles and are easily clockable as afab, and I think what they said really made the point, right?
Being transmasc doesn't have to (only) be about your agab. It doesn't have to be informed by those experiences. It especially doesn't have to be informed by typical perisex experiences. Someone who is transmasc complaining about their period could have been any agab, could have any different sex characteristics, the point is that we don't try to explain and defend our transmasc identities by putting ourselves in specific boxes of agab language.
You can still complain about having your period. You can still complain about your voice and people clocking you as a gender you aren't. Doesn't mean you have to call yourself a specific agab. Just means you're you.
This is kinda, like, thinking you can't talk about being pregnant and identifying as coffee bean transmasc. These are things that play important roles in your life that you can choose to put certain language to.
I personally do not like calling myself afab. It's just uncomfortable in a lot of ways for me. But I still have my period, I still have a chest, I still have a feminine-ish face. I can complain about people misgendering me without talking about what doctors called me when I was born when they looked at my privates. Especially considering I'm intersex and my intersex experiences play a big part of all of the above.
What I'm getting at here is that perisex people also have to deconstruct the sex binary. I need more perisex people to talk about their experience and gender wayy outside the confines of dyadic norms. Need this the same way we needed straight people to be less heteronormative, by assuming you have a partner of the opposite sex, or cis people putting their pronouns in bio even though it could "be assumed".
Deconstructing the gender and sex binary isn't just the job of intersex people. It's for everyone.

i know this is a bit of a weird ask, but i'm not too sure about the names of hydrangea cisfem and lemon wave cismasc.
i really like the flags! but i'm a bit of a nerd and i cant help but point out that lemon waves are actually a subset of hydrangeas. maybe this is nitpicky but i think it'd make more sense to have them be "hydrangea cis" flags and name them after different types of hydrangeas.
i don't intend to force you to do anything. it's just something i wanted to point out
It’s okay to be nitpicky!
I’m not a botanist so I’m going to defer to you on this one. And the rest of the ANC cis community.

They’re fairies.
So they don’t quite assign gender in the same way human societies do.
This is true because I said so.
Tinker Bell from Disney Fairies is a coffee bean transmasc?

the color palettes of the honeybee transfem n coffeebean transmasc flags are so pleasant on the eyes, proving my theory that any flag can be improved if you make it with intersex people in mind,

Poll time!
This is really really petty and mostly unserious criticism, but I wish that the community could decide whether it’s coffee bean transmasc with a space or coffeebean transmasc with no space.
Because one doesn’t come up when you search for the other. But maybe that’s just because tumblr’s search function is terrible.
