after the ACh is used and unbound from the sodium channels, the enzyme AchE (acetylcholinesterase), breaks it down into acetate and choline. the two chemicals are reabsorbed and will be made into ACh once again to be reused.

action potential travels through the motor neuron and to the axon terminal on the sarcomere. at the neuromuscular junction (spot where the axon terminal and muscle/sarcomere meet) , inside the axon terminal there are vesicles that hold acetylcholine (ACh). around the terminal are gated calcium channels
*gated calcium channels only open for Ca+*
once the calcium in the body is let through the calcium gates, the vesicles travel downward and open up to release ACh into the synaptic cleft, the space between the axon terminal and the sarcomere . once in the synaptic cleft, ACh molecules bind to to the gated sodium channels on the sarcomere.
*gated sodium channels only open if ACh binds, and lets Na+ cross*
this lets Na+ enter the sarcomere. the Na+ molecules travel to the T tubule, and get distributed deeper. eventually, they reach the SR (sarcoplasmic reticulum) where they find more gated sodium channels to bind to.
*sarcoplasmic reticulum is the holding tank for more calcium*
the binding allows the SR to release its calcium into the sarcomere, which binds to the troponin, changing the shape of the tropomyosin, allowing the myosin heads to grab onto the actin and finally contract, which is the events i described in my last post

the myofibrils inside the sarcomere inside the muscle fascicle inside the muscle cause the muscle to contract.
((action potential is released from the brain as electricity and travels through the motor neuron(s) that is in charge of the muscle that the organism wants to move))
myosin heads grab on to the binding sites in the actin, but only if the tropomyosin is moved out of the way.
*calcium binds to the troponin on tropomyosin, causing the protein to change shape and move out of the way, facilitating the myosin heads to bind to the binding sites in actin.*
a molecule of ATP binds to each of the myosin heads binded to the actin, giving them the energy they need to curl/contract. the many myofibrils contracting at the same time cause the muscle as a whole to contract.
