20 Things I'm Thankful For..
Okay, so. I'm behind the times and four months after my last post promising to stop being MIA. But after an amazing Thanksgiving back in DC with friends and family, I was staring out the train window on my way back to New York and thinking of all the amazing things that have happened in the past year. Alas, here are 20 things I'm thankful for right now. Enjoy xx
Manhattan // Pinot Noir
My amazing parents // C&C's $1 dumplings
Robyn //My sassy friends
The color black // Reading a book in Washington Square Park
Dishwashers // Riding boots/flats/Toms
Days where I feel like my life is almost like a Friends or Sex in the City episode //My Barbour
Trader Joe's // Bloody Mary's/Mimosas/All-you-can-drink brunch
The hipster, well-dressed men of New York // Soulvaki GR
The black cat that lives on the roof next door //Skinny jeans
The Manhattan skyline // My wonderful roommates

Animal Kingdom--new life of patterns
It's been too long. And this new collection by J. Crew which popped up in my inbox this week inspired me to come back and share. Those who know me know that I'm a solids girl. I like white, grey, blue... any color really but not patterns. This inspires me to get out of my box of white v-neck shirts and go out to grab some animal prints--especially this blouse. Fabulous.

Unpacking and repacking
After a wonderful ten days in Italy with 19 members of my family, I'm back and packing in DC! I'll share more about my trip later but for a little glimpse: I tried to find the most delicious pizza in every town, made a great effort to find the best wine Chianti has to offer {this obviously meant a number of tastings and glasses to get this right}, found the most beautiful ostrich-leather purse known to mankind for a great price, bought a piece of art {so adult!}, and tossed a Euro in the Trevi Fountains in Rome. All in all, a great trip!
Now, as I procrastinate my to-do list which includes packing up my life for my move to the city on Friday, here are a few looks I'm thinking about and LOVE.
I love Blake Lively and I LOVE this dress she wore to BAFTA in LA. Nevermind that she's a classic beauty that can pull of most designs on the face of the earth {I'm only mildly jealous, I promise...} but this dress was made for her. The grecian flow is beautiful with the silver detailing and I love how the shift is a mini with the length of her legs shown in the sheer fabric. Earrings, shoes, tan, everything is fabulous. Let's not forget she's dating Leonardo Di Caprio either...
I love maxi dresses and Kim Kardashian does it right here {just forget about the fringe purse for a moment}. I'm loving her dress paired with the nude sandals, not drawing attention to her feet and focusing the attention on her dress. I'm looking at TopShop's navy stripe maxi dress and thinking a pair of Sam Edelman's classic sandals in nude would be perfect. Having just come pack from vacation and spending nearly 15 hours traveling, a maxi dress is a perfect travel outfit. It's super comfy, covers your legs in case you get cold and goes easily with sandals {obviously the best footwear solution since heels and long plane rides don't really match..}. Definitely invest!
Best dressed couple at Paris Haute Couture week goes to Olivia Palermo & boyfriend Johannes Huebl. All I can say is did they meet in New York? And where can I find one?
Fabulous.

A great friend recently introduced me to Robyn and, after a sing-a-long in the car to Show Me Love, I've become addicted.
Enjoy!

Euro adventures
I'm mildly embarrassed by my awful posting habits lately... or lack there of. My life has been hectic this summer as I commute back and forth between DC and New York in search of the perfect job and apartment. And now I can happily report that I'm officially employed and will be working in PR in the city !!!
And now that everything is settled, I'm headed off for a 10 day Italian vacation with my wonderful family. I'm going to try to take lots of pictures so I can finally start outfit posts like I've been planning for oh so long! So have a wonderful fourth of July and I will see you all in a few weeks {hopefully with some new clothes and a great tan!}
xx

New York, New York
After a few months in the making {and more than a fair share of resumes, cover letters and meetings later}, I can officially say that I'm moving to New York!
I'll be making the big move in a few short weeks into a great/tiny/cozy apartment in the Lower East Side with fellow blogger Hannah of A Wild Rose. As you can imagine, I'm having a small panic attack over the space, or lack there of. Currently living with my parents, I've commandeered two bedrooms to fit all of my stuff and now I'm left wondering how to decide what of my belongings gets to make the big adventure with me.
Anyone with advice on organizing closet-sized bedrooms or general recommendations in LES {mostly interested in food & bars...or combination of the two with all-you-can-drink brunch} get at me.
To my friends: you can visit. To my readers: please write. And to anyone in New York: please buy me a drink, I may need it after moving my life up five storeys.

Happy fathers day..
For my wonderful father who gives the best hugs, always answers my phone calls, shares my love of eating constantly, taught me to ride a horse, and who always makes me feel loved. I could not have asked for a better dad. Happy fathers day to all of the great dads out there!

Hello, I love you
Beautiful. Pockets. Shiny. Mini. Perfection. Not fair. Birthday gift?
{The lovely Leighton Meester at the MTV Music Awards in a beautiful Balmain Fall/Winter 2011}
On another note, I'm toying with the idea of going brunette to save myself thousands of dollars in blonde highlights in NYC. Thoughts? I'm loving her hair color.

Happy birthday to me!
Now that I've approached that ripe old age of 22 {kidding... kind of}, I have decided to make a list of the things I'm looking forward to in my twenty-second year of fabulousness.
1. Not being the youngest {legal} person at the bar
2. Using the world alum... sounds much more adult that "oh, I'm a student"
3. My move to NYC with friend/Carolina alum/fellow blogger Hannah and London friend Cait
4. Meeting new, fabulous people in New York {read great friends a la sex and the city and great men like Big}
5. Rooting for my Tarheels to win yet another national championship next spring
6. My first big girl job {EEEEEKKKKS}
7. Making enough money that Mint.com can actually track my budget and making not enough money that I'm eating Ramen and frozen pizza every night
8. Going out in til 4am to celebrate adulthood {Chapel Hill bars close at 2am...so minor league}
9. Working more on my blog, doing more fashion posts and meeting my favorite NYC blog girls
10. Making this year a fabulous start to my new life as an adult... cheesy, yes but hey, your 20s are supposed to be the best years of your life right?!
{Illustration by OSI favorite Inslee... it's available on flat cards. Buy them!}

{LOVE} The simple life
Style. Everyone thinks about it. They take years and spend hundreds of dollars on clothes, accessories and makeup in an effort to find it. I think back to 2005 when I mixed 7 for all Mankind jeans with a boho top and glittery Urban Decay eyeliner {don't laugh, we've all been there}. For those that know me now, I'm the antitheses of bohemian and Urban Decay. I've become the J. Crew, simplistic-at-times, classic dresser who wears solid colors and Dior makeup... I think. Anyways, I've been thinking of posting about my personal style for some time now and, while that post is still developing with my favorite style icons, here's two celebs with styles I love: Ashley Olson & Olivia Palermo
EVERYTHING is right about this picture. Classic button down, tucked neatly into jeans, menswear watch, shaggy hair and oversize dark sunglasses. Perfection. I believe anything can be pulled together with the right pair of sunglasses and accessories. In this case, very few accessories. For those that know me, you will see me everyday in a pair of pearl stud earrings with a menswear Michael Kors watch with the possible addition of a gold ring and bangle if I'm feeling dressy. I love simplistic accessories that say just enough and Ashley's look is just that.
Olivia Palermo {another post on her to come} is one of my style icons. This picture of her out and about shows how you can take a few simple things, throw them on and look nice while running errands. A bun and cat-eye glasses make her look chic while still being comfortable in a simple black sweater and flats. I love love her bucket bag and its contrast to her outfit.
