Some of my simple goals for 2017
A bad habit to break: catastrophizing/negativity
A new skill to learn: conversational american sign language
A good deed I’m going to do: volunteer at a local nonprofit
A book I will read: Slaughterhouse-Five, Kurt Vonnegut
A letter I am going to write: a thank you letter to the professor I had this semester who changed my life.
A thing I’m going to work on: time management and organization

My sister and I just went to France
After 2 decades of being alive, this was the first time I had been outside of the United States. We planned this trip for months, and managed to make it fairly inexpensive to go which was a bonus. It definitely was a fantastic opportunity to use my ‘new’ DSLR camera (new meaning a few months old but I still get excited about it), and to experience a different culture than the one I grew up with. It was also awesome to see my sister pushed outside of her comfort zone and excelling. She has been learning and speaking french for the past few years, and while nervous initially about how the Parisians we talked to would perceive her, she got so excited to actually speak to native speakers other than the professors and teachers she has had.

Just in case you wanted to know a bit about me
I am starting this blog to keep track of and share the things that I am doing in my life. As of the beginning of this blog, I am a 20yr old college student studying mathematics. I am planning and hoping to graduate with a job that will help me not flounder under crippling debt, much like the plans and hopes of pretty much every other college student ever. Here’s a nice easy ‘icebreaker’ styled list of things about me:
Adjectives that describe me:
Athletic, Stubborn, Driven, Bubbly, Optimistic, Down-to-Earth
Activities I love to do:
Ultimate Frisbee, running (xc and track style. still love hurdles), parkour/tricking, reading, sleeping, eating, pretty much anything related to physical activity or mind stimulation.
Random facts:
I accidentally started domesticating a feral cat colony that lived by my house at the age of 9 (who said you have to grow up to be an old cat lady??)
I have 4 siblings: 2 older sisters, 2 younger brothers. While I am the ‘middle’ child, there is an 11 year gap between me and the elder of my younger brothers, but only a 2 year gap between me and the younger of my older sisters.
I used to be able to fit 3 quarters between my two front teeth as a kid. The gap is now gone, and I never had braces/retainer/etc.
All in all, I’m a pretty open book once you’ve met me. Hopefully I will be keeping up with this blog for a long period of time, but who knows, really. Anyway, I hope y’all have a wonderful rest of your day.
