The first project of 2023 is a reality. A parting gift, in the form of a meditation stool. Made out of maple and with details in golden rain. To accentuate the caring that the person in question felt very strongly about. But also the unique opportunity connecting. In the last months of 2022, I worked intensively on a cupboard for two amazing twin brothers. I had previously been allowed to make a table for them. So they could play their board games better (as well as invite more people over for dinner), and this cabinet should give the board games a dignified place in their living space. The cabinet, where the shelves are made of Plane and oak, and the rails and beams of walnut, has some very nice details that I am very proud of. It makes the cabinet just different from the rest. The walnut represents the connection between the two brothers. One cannot exist without the other. This is also going on in the planks. Each wood represents one of the brothers there. But tightly connected to each other. Without each other, it is meaningless. The plane tree, a prima facie fragile tree, with all those flakes on its bark. But as it grows, this tree becomes stronger and stronger, able to choose its own path. Self-assured. The oak tree goes for it. Wants to grow. Together with others preferably. Getting the very best out of it. Most of the cabinet is handmade. Because I like that and can work more precisely that way. But also because my machine broke down. So it all took a bit longer than planned. Do you remember the playhouse we were busy with? Here are the results!!! The kids love to play in it. The wood is working very well in the classroom. We used robinia for the learning qualities of the wood (very important in a toddlers class) and the birch trees for the caring part in the trees and also the pioneer quality. All important for little kids and their teacher. We loved making it, even more now the kids are playing in it. Proud of the result.
