Throwing some ideas down in my #sketchbook and my sis walks in with a sweet #cronut treat from @georgieporgiescafe ☺️🍩💕 I enjoyed drawing that Gemini piece for #heartline so much that I'm planning out the rest of the western zodiac, with each piece popping up at the start of that signs season. Next up is #cancerseason, starting June 22nd ♋️ I like the idea of incorporating armor, to reference a crabs thick protective shell. Heard some noises so went to check on my little buddy. Turns out the noises were things falling off my bookcase - I found him casually chilling in this dollhouse on the fourth shelf up, roughly shoulder height. Bluetongue skinks are burrowing animals, not climbers. Never seems to stop Trouble though! He doesn't accept your limitations. ARTIST: REBECCA MURPHY LOCATION: SYDNEY November 16, 2015

What is the medium you most like to work in? Mostly in acrylic paints and ink on canvas, but I love anything that pushes me out of that comfort zone as well - toy mods, paste-ups, printmaking, sculpture, silver smithing, whatever.

What are your thoughts about the medium of the paste-up? I love the ephemeral nature of the paste-up. They're quick to put up, messy, fun, and anyone can do it - the only limits are what you can imagine and how strong your paste is.

Tell us about your studio/where you make your art. My studio is a little beachside flat in Sydneys southern suburbs, which I share with a bluetongue called Trouble. It's always changing, and looks pretty chaotic most of the time, with every available surface covered in pots of paint, sketches, and random art crap (power tools, glass taxidermy eyes, reference books, anything I might use). There's a very loose kind of organization to it all. I used to move around pretty regularly, wanderlust style, but once I walked in the door here I stopped moving and got busy creating.

What will you be sending us for this year's PASTE MODERNISM? Two decent sized hand painted pieces. The first is a raw hearted girl, riffing on the piece I did for PM3. The second is a satiated sekhmet, the egyptian lion goddess whose bloodlust was only quenched after being tricked into drinking a river nile full of wine. So basically a sexy drunk cat lady.

What other projects/exhibitions/events are coming up for you soon? The 30th Anniversary Screaming Hand art show, which I am so stoked to have been invited to mod a screaming hand sculpture for, is in Melbourne right now, then touring on to Japan and onwards. Push/Pop/Kick : Adaptions of Skate Culture group show is about to open on another leg of its tour as well, at Valkarie Gallery in Colorado. I'm working on a couple of collab pieces with Deanist - one featuring his tiger and another featuring one of my girls, which are going to look amazing. I did some artwork for 100 Squared which I think was just installed, paste-up style, in their Melbourne space by Toby of Just Another Agency. And I'm planning on expanding my #rebeccamurphyintype project to include the whole alphabet. That's gonna be pretty fun.

Watched the sunrise over the ocean, picked some flowers on the way back to the studio. Fiddling with ideas for a satiated Sekhmet. Sexy cat lady surrounded by skulls and wine 🐯💀🍷✨

A couple of shots of my finished Screaming Hand sculpt mod. I cut away half of the hand to reveal the muscles beneath, which are a mix of hand, face, and throat. The teeth and bones are hand carved from reclaimed skateboard wood. And the skin is that iconic blue (because yessss that blue) with skulls and roses patterned in lighter blue over the top.

Last night was the opening night at aMBUSH Gallery Sydney, and it was frickin' AMAZING. Big kudos to all involved, especially Eddie Zammit who curated the whole thing. And Santa Cruz Oz obviously! If you're in Sydney, check out the show in the next two days. If you're in Melbourne, get to the opening, srsly. The work is next level.

A while back I was invited to take part in @one_sugar_to_go (a brilliant coffee themed art exhibition and auction raising funds for the @leukaemia_foundation). My piece was a skeletal early bird who gave no fucks about getting the worm, just caffeine. Because ☕️ = 💕. A bunch of you expressed affection for what is basically my spirit animal, so I've gone ahead and throw the little dude on @redbubble - on coffee mugs, obviously, but also tees totes, stickers, notebooks, etc. All proceeds from the sale of WAKE UP! will be donated to the #leukaemiafoundation 😃💸💉

Custom heels for Stayfly 2nd Anniversary Group Show, which opens tomorrow night in Sydney.

Embedded eyeballs, retro tattoo flash inspired pattern, exposed muscle, raised bone, a secret diamond ... these were so much fun to make!

This year's exhibition is entitled: "MY FEET, MY WALKS, MY SHOES" as the artists will explore their views and feels though their distinguished styles representing their walks, paths and many, many shoes!
