genuinely irritating how this fandom erases yuuji’s weird/ “offputting” traits. like sure, he’s upbeat, cute and social.

but he isn’t as innocent as everyone here paints him to be.

he’s into pretty gory stuff, isnt scared or disgusted by curses even from the initial start, unlike other commoners. gojo describes him as “a bit crazy” and he’s definitely right.

he went gambling despite being underage, uses vulgar speech, he does pretty unsanitary things and literally cannibalizes including fingers of an ancient corpse?

when his friends talk about toge’s struggle as a cursed speech user because he could easily kill someone by accident, he calls it “cool”. he can be very violent and unforgiving if he’s angered etc. etc.

he’s good natured and goofy and naive sometimes, but he’s far from being pure or innocent.

As much as I loved Gojo, I kinda don’t want him back the same way that I’m glad Nobara’s back

There were two things in particular which were frustrating/sad to me about her “death”:

First off, the audience never got any closure

All mentions of her death were super vague, and a whole character was introduced just to open the possibility of her survival

This was very frustrating when reading, because I personally could never kill that small spark of hope for her survival. It was also very satisfying when she came back, because the closure was there even if it wasn’t the direction most people expected

Second, the chair scene. Need I really say more?

Nobara’s very young. Her life is full of empty chairs

She died too early, before the climax of her life: she had her entire life ahead of her. It wasn’t supposed to end that way

Then there’s Gojo’s death:

First and foremost, there’s no doubt that he’s dead. With Nobara, there was room for doubt as only her eye blew up. That’s something one could actually survive, especially with jujutsu medical attention

Gojo was cut clean in half. There is very little doubt that he’s dead on one level or another

There’s also the scene after he dies. He’s talking with his old, dead classmates

He’s surrounded by the people he loves. They’re all dead. He’s lived a life that’s full and finished: even though he was far too young, he was satisfied. His death had a layer of contentment

I’m really happy that he got to have this sort of ending, and that he’ll truly rest in peace with his best friends

That isn’t to say that his return isn’t plausible, or that it won’t give me surface level happiness. But no sorcerer dies without regrets, and taking away Gojo’s opportunity of being the first one just feels kinda unfair, ya know?

Gojo’s back with his friends, and so is Nobara: one in the land of the dead, the other one in the land of the living. Isn’t that an ending we could get behind?

Ok I want to say something controversial

But you are responsible for your own safe spaces. You can block tags, block words, block people.

“But i thought fandom was supposed to be a safe space” —yeah you have to curate it.

Unfortunately one persons’s safe space may be another persons’ trigger. That’s ok. Simply block them, block the tag, block the word etc. They can do the same for you.

Maybe I’m just out of touch, but I’ve been around since the days of “don’t like, don’t read” and that’s a good philosophy. If it squicks you, scroll past. If it causes you anxiety or upset, block! Plenty of people are responsive if you ask them to tag an upsetting trigger. And if they’re dicks about it, block em.
