❝ 𝐀𝐑𝐄 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐌𝐀𝐍 𝐄𝐍𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇 ? ❞

The kingdom of Blackrock was once a haven wrapped in the nurturing arms of the sun. You remember the days when its rays glistened across your skin , and embraced you in its glorious cloak of warmth. It draped your back in a faultless comfort as you prepared for the day ahead, consistently reluctant to release its intangible grip on you.

You remember the way it made you feel special. Perseverance filled your lungs whenever you made eye contact with the mirror , slowly digesting yourself and what latent fortune the future may bestow upon you.

The suns radiance brought out a part of yourself that could only be described as valour. You cherished that valour as a good luck charm , and reassurance of your potential. The potential for success. The potential to fulfill your dreams all the whilst maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Your job at the Kings castle felt like a wonder back then.

Back when Kitchen Wizards meals felt like a weight slowly falling from your shoulders the more you swallowed their contents. Back when you and the other guards on your shift would make lighthearted jokes about getting a raise for your hard work , though all you really needed to do was stand around. Back when your reflection was still visible in your blade , so whenever you felt unsure or anxious , you could stare into yourself and let the sunlight illuminate a solution.

Now all you see is a rusty sword unworthy enough to be wielded by a selfish hand such as yours.

You remember when the King was a man that poured his heart into caring for the kingdom and its residents. He took any complaints from the locals with a smile on his face , promising on his soul that he would solve the problem as soon as possible. And he always did.

He liked you for some reason , however. An ambiguous reason that never could have an official answer. No matter how many times you twisted the situation and unsnarled the answers , the Kings motives always remained unclear yet unchanged.

Sometimes , he would call you into the Throne Room just to praise you for your flawless service to the community , a small smile resting on his face as he did so. This always confused you , as you were but a humble patrol officer. Was it flattery? He was the King after all. Compliments from him would throw anyone off guard.

The times when you both stood face to face whilst patrolling remote areas of the castle were unforgettable. You maintained your professional composure as the King muttered how praiseworthy your work was in a voice laced with pride and respect.

Yet you could sense some sort of ulterior intent behind his words. It wasn’t the fact you couldn’t figure out what he was implying that was nerve wracking, it’s what would happen once you did.

Looking back now , the next part of that memory was pretty ridiculous , causing a weak chuckle to leave your blue lips.

The King had requested for you in his chambers during your second shift of the day , to which your colleagues let out loud “Oooooooooo!!” ‘s. What you weren’t expecting was to be soon be colliding lips with the Lord of Blackrock himself after opening his crooked doors. He pinned you against the wall , a mysterious desire rested his eyes. His hands trailed onto your armour , and gently undid your breastplate and pauldron. You followed through with his silent wishes and removed your gauntlets , watching as they dropped to the stone floor below with a thud.

The whole thing was sloppy , you must admit. You weren’t sure what to do , yet you were too sucked into the moment back then to even process your surroundings. His hands gripped your waist tightly whilst the other trailed up your back the more you progressed. Both your arms wrapped around his neck in a desperate attempt to keep yourself upright , your thighs tensing by the minute at the close contact.

Your tongues clashed violently in a desperate attempt to stay together. Strings of saliva stuck to them like glue , pulling you both closer for more. Breathy moans and grunts left your mouths the more your chests touched as you could feel each other’s desperate heartbeats.

You eventually felt a tug at your fauld , and noticed the pause in contact for a moment. The King stared into your eyes , silently asking; begging for your approval.

You blinked at the moment , before apologising to him. Your shift hadn’t ended yet , and if you didn’t leave your colleagues would soon get an idea and tease you for it relentlessly.

The King stopped in that moment. Not anything in specific , he just froze. He gazed into your eyes , and you gazed back with stuttered breaths. However the more you looked , the more afraid you became. That glint in his eye remained in place. The same glint you caught notice off whilst he praised you for your ‘hard work and dedication’. His ulterior motive was still there.

You felt shivers up your spine. Having you in his chamber wasn’t what he wanted? Well , it was , but what did he truly desire? Especially from you , of all people. A lowly patrol officer that stands around all day doing jack with their life. You could be doing so much more. So much better for people that you actually liked. Not serving some corrupt royal that probably wanted to use in more ways than one.

But a single thought settled in your mind that shattered your previous argument into jagged edges.

The King was forlorn. He had no spouse , no right hand , and not a single friend. He was desperately seeking some sort of attention that wasn’t ungrateful farmers that complained about the crop on their land being destroyed by crows. That smile he always plastered on his chiselled face was probably a way to push back that mindset and focus on his duties. But he couldn’t handle it. He was lonely and he wasn’t going insane from it.

He was just trying his best.

Thats what you thought all those months ago.

You lay on the Throne Room floor , ice surrounding every inch of your body. You winced in pain as it dug into the stab wound near your abdomen. You felt your insides go cold as everything from your intestines to your arteries were pierced by icicles the size of boulders. You couldnt scream as your cold lips had been frozen shut due to the temperature. You couldn’t plead for mercy as your will to continue in this state was tiring. All you could do was freeze.

You watched as the Cruel King cradled you in his arms with an unreadable expression. The wound was opening up the more the ice dug into your flesh , slowly reaching the bottom of your spine and dragging along your pelvis.

The glint in his eye disappeared , yet you still couldnt understand his intentions. Did he mean to stab you? Was he planning to preserve your corpse and keep it as a trophy? Maybe he would resurrect you into a mutant zombie and have you as his right hand.

You wanted to chuckle at the thought , but the pain had dug into your body too much.

All you could do at the moment was stare into his eyes.

Those disgustingly vile blue eyes.
