There’s something that new k-pop fans might not understand about the older generations of idols. Many people like to criticize Super Junior for their past actions, seeing them only as variety idols without any musical value. Some might wonder how they have lasted for so long, thinking that they aren’t even popular anymore, that they are overrated, etc. It’s a well known fact that one of the secrets to Suju’s successful career is because they treat everyone around them with respect. Numerous hoobaes and sunbaes have said the same thing over & over again : you might not see them as popular or relevant now, but their popularity and impact were grandiose, more than you could ever imagine. SJ has so many connections in the industry, going from actors/singers, to MCs/producers. They spent a decade trying to tie countless of relations here and there, finding many opportunities to spread their talents. What they do might not interest you, but they are really what you call a well-rounded group. There is not one single member who is useless or isn’t talented. You want a good producer? You have Shindong. Great MCs? Leeteuk, Heechul, Kangin, Eunhyuk, Kyuhyun are doing well. Radio DJs? Ryeowook and Shindong are comfortable doing that. One of the best vocal line, if not the best in kpop? Kyuhyun, Ryeowook, Yesung are here to please your ears. Zhou Mi is super great as well. Kangin & Shindong went on Masked Singers (Still waiting for Heechul to make an appearance). Actors? Yesung, Siwon and Heechul are pretty confident in this field. Dancers and choreographers? Of course we can’t not mention Eunhyuk, Donghae and Shindong. Composers? Not only Donghae is a genius, but a few of them have proven to be talented as well (Did you listen to Don’t Leave Me? If not, you should, and thank Siwon later; also can we talk about Henry? That guy never cease to impress me). Musical actors? Sungmin, Ryeowook and Kyuhyun excel in musicals. And those are just a small part of what each member can do. On top of that, members can play instruments, have a great variety sense, are hilarious, are a genuine and caring group of people, are hard workers, and most importantly : all of them can actually sing, contrary to popular belief. Their voices mixed together blend perfectly and they have a unique sound. Even their sub-units will impress you. Give their discography a listen, because they have proven themselves so many times already. You will not be disappointed. The thing is that it seems like everyone who’s working in this industry knows how talented Super Junior is and how difficult it was for them to be where they are today, yet the public chooses to ignore this side of the group. They’re veterans in the industry that should be respected. I mean, their name was supposed to be SM Junior when they debuted, but they changed it to “Super” because the members themselves said :  “We have to become first at what we do best, so that when members gather, we’ll be the top of the top. That’s why we are Super Junior.”

Min Yoongi and his Piano

Does anyone know what type of piano Yoongi had growing up? Was it a vertical piano?: Spinet? Consolette? Console? Studio? Professional? A petite, baby, parlor, ballroom, or concert grand piano? I'm just insanely curious. I'm figuring it's probably a vertical one (and brown obviously). I figure the one he grew up with would be like the one in his first love video. But I would still like it if anyone knew or had pictures of him predebut with the piano?

161114 - Hello Counselor

Peniel said his hair loss started 5 years ago and got worse by time. He lost 70% of his hair. He did went to the doctor, but his case was a little serious, so he didn’t grow anymore hair and had been wearing caps and beanies.

He did eat a lot of black beans that help with hair growinn and go for treatment weekly, but it didn’t became better. His parents were very worried, they wanted him to go back do U.S to do treatment, but he worried about the company, members adn even fans, he didn’t say it out. He wants do promotion properly now.

He told CUBE that he wanted to take off the cap to feel comfortable. 

During the recording itself he asked his friend “Do I look weird waring a hat? How do I look? Is it very weird?” but his friend said “It’s not, you look pretty”, he then went “It’s good if it’s not weird and look pretty” and he thanked his friend.

Minhyuk once asked Peniel before on radio show that “When do you feel the happiest?”, Peniel replied “When the members praise me”, Minhyuk said when he heard that, his heart hurts a lot and also when finally knowing that Peniel had been through this much.

Psychologist Pixi’s Guide to What’s Going On With Yongguk: Panic Disorder

Hello everyone! A sort of known fact about me is that I studied psychology in university, specializing in Abnormal Psych (a.k.a. mental illness). A lesser known fact about me is that I suffered from panic disorder for approximately 3-4 months during high school. With the recent news about Yongguk, I’m going to give a quick overview of Panic Disorder to calm everyone’s nerves a bit ^^

Disclaimer: I don’t have a PhD. I only have a BA, but my mom is a PhD Psychologist and I did message her to fact check what I am saying, as well as going through my old textbooks and notes!

So, for the first and simplest part of this: Panic Disorder is defined by the presence of Panic Attacks that have been present for at least one month (or more) and which are not better explained by medication, drugs, or another disorder. 

A Panic Attack may contain any of the following symptoms: heart palpitations, sweating, trembling, shortness of breath, chest pain, nausea, dizziness, etc. It’s not a pleasant sensation, as I and anyone who has had one can attest to. It feels like your having a heart attack, and they usually come with seemingly no cause, just kind of “out of the blue”. Panic attacks typically last somewhere between 10 and 30 minutes, and its very rare to see them go longer than an hour.

Panic Disorder has about a 5% prevalence among the population. For a psychological disorder, this should be considered moderately high. The average age of onset is between 23 and 34. 

At the moment,I see a lot of people saying TS ‘caused’ Yongguk’s Panic Disorder, and blaming them for hiss mental state. It’s important to note that we do not know the details of the situation, and that it is likely a culmination of factors including both family, social, and work factors that would bring the onset of this condition. I understand you all care greatly for him, I do too, but anger without sufficient detail is not a good way to respond to this situation, and it may be unhealthy or hurtful to Yongguk to read such things. It is better to not try to figure out the ‘why’ of his illness, as it’s really stressful for a mentally ill person to have everyone question what brought there mental illness on.

So now we get to treatment. Panic Disorders are often treated through antianxiety medicines, therapy, or a combination of the two. Likely the third option will have the best overall and longterm outcomes, but any of the three is an adequate treatment and the efficacy of any treatment is determined by the willingness of the participant.

And as a final note, Panic Disorder has a very nice recovery rate. With early diagnosis and treatment, it can be dealt with rapidly and in comparison to other disorders it has a very low relapse rate. I, for instance, was treated with a therapy only method, and recovered within a month of beginning treatment, although I did continue for another month in hopes of avoiding it for the future.

In conclusion, what’s most important for us as a fan base right now is to remain calm and understanding. Avoid searching or demanding reasons, or otherwise causing Yongguk any unnecessary stress. He can and will get better with treatment and time. Mental illness is not a simple thing to manage, but it is manageable.
