This is what I think the first Doctor (of Doctor Who) would look like as an animal!

It’s funny to think how badly the show would probably have done if it launched in 2005 with the first Doctor at the helm. At least to begin with he was grumpy, surly, and more than a little stuck up - and even when he stopped trying to actively kill or abandon his human companions he could still be pretty short with them! Nowadays the various Doctors like humanity and mostly are capable of maintaining friendships… but these are traits he had to earn over time…

As a bonus here’s his granddaughter, Susan, who would therefore probably also be a goat?? I don’t know. She was much more agreeable but also very odd.

This is what I think the second Doctor might look like if he were an animal! It’s been a long while since I watched any classic doctor who (had to sell all my DVDs at one point a few years back) but for whatever reason this was an easy pick. Just seems to fit.

Bonus Zoe and Jamie! Again, Jamie was easy (Scottish wildcat) and Zoe makes sense to me as a gecko. If I remember right she was from the future? Or at least from space?? So, non-specific future space gecko.

This is what I think the third Doctor would look like as an animal! A borzoi (with a long and rather distinctive profile).

Additionally, I think Sarah Jane could be a deer, so I picked a fallow deer! They are depicted below, conspiring together… I reckon the Brigadier would be another kind of dog, perhaps a terrier! But I haven’t drawn him. I am just sharing these thoughts with you.

I haven’t drawn any of his companions, but the two Romana (Romanae?) might make good cats. Romana I would be extremely fluffy and Romana II extremely sleek. Leela could perhaps be a caracal or a hyena… but the bigger question is, would K9 be turned into a human in this scenario?? 🤨

The fifth and sixth doctors! Five is a golden retriever. Six is a fluffy cat.

As for companions, I reckon Tegan would be a cockatoo or kookaburra, Adric could be a mouse of some sort? Turlough a rather surly ginger cat. Nyssa maybe a deer? Peri a songbird of some variety (which makes the perilous mutation experiment in ‘Vengeance on Varos’ kinda funny. Like, yeah, turn her into a bird if you want. She already is one, idiot). Mel… a red setter? A pony?? Undecided!

I'm testing out ideas for new prints for my artist's alley table. This was originally done as four pieces for tumblr, so there was a little cropping to make it a 8.5"x11" print. So the question is...

To be fair, Nyssa of Traken is sometimes treated as being already a grown up. She’s what. 18-20 year old.

And also. Who said Nyssa/Adric is an unpopular ship. It isn’t.

Here we have two characters, ages never stated but implied to both be teenagers. In any case they are close enough in age that there are several scenes that place them as each other's romantic prospect without it really being canonised. One's a boy, one's a girl. One, the fandom is mildly horrified at the idea of shipping anyone with because he's so young. The other, most of the fandom is perfectly comfortable with sexualising. Surely, this is totally unrelated to the fact we as a culture are more used to sexualising teenage girls than teenage boys.
