Spoiler for those who have not played baldur’s gate 3 or haven’t finished playing everything yet for Astarion. Idk if things happen with each companion’s story regardless of who you romance (I’m thinking like Otome games when you pick someone and everyone else’s story falls to the background )

So tiktok got me in a rabbit hole that is romancing Astarion from Baldur’s gate. And I’m gobbling up as much fanfiction as I can on tumblr and ao3. It’s so crazy bc I can’t play this on my laptop it’s a simple school laptop I’ve had for a few years so I doubt I could. And I think I seen something about it being playable on ps5 and I don’t have it like that. Took a long minute just to get a switch. So what I’m saying is it’s crazy how obsessed I am over a game I can’t play. So I’ve been watching cutscenes and edits and reading fic. As much as I would love to add by doing my own fics I don’t feel confident with my limited information about the world of the game in general so I rather share an idea I have an idea for a fic instead.

So I’ve been hearing about ascended vs non ascended Astarion and I think the general consensus is it’s better in the long run not to especially with how he treats the player(or tav??) and how vastly different than preascension or if you never ascend him. So hear me out. Time travel.

Like Tav ascends Astarion and they realize when it’s too late that it’s was a wrong idea. He turns tav into a spawn and he promises never to control them as he was before. But he’s high on power and let’s say tav realizes this isn’t the same man they fell for they may want out or they don’t jump to agree to do things he’s wanting them to do. Then he does the unthinkable and forces tav to do something they don’t want to, it doesn’t have to be r*pe (I prefer it not to) it could be he forces tav to kill someone or bring him pray (bringing that abuse with his old master full circle). Or maybe he’s feeling himself as a powerful and attractive vampire he can have anyone, why ‘settle’ for tav? What if takes another ‘consort’ and tav is betrayed. This is the thanks they get after helping him ascend?

So tav could somehow end up dead, maybe the new consort murdered them with their guard down, maybe in despair they step into the sun. They don’t want eternal life if they can’t be his only. They don’t want forever with a man they don’t recognize. They wished they can do things differently. Or (like some transmigration theme manwha) they go to bed crying and hurt thinking ‘if only I stopped him, this isn’t the Astarion I knew’ and they’re filled with regret. Or they can even stumble across a magic item (again idk what kinda magic or what’s possible in this universe I’ve only seen random cutscenes on tiktok). Anyway tav wakes up back in time. Back from before it can be right before the ritual or ideally it can be further back. Tav is shocked, confused they just died/went to sleep after getting the worst betrayal of their life. How can they be back with all their companions and Astarion and they have to make different choices with him to be able to guide him off the path of darkness that will come with ascending. The back in time thing is literally the same as when you restart a save file bc you wanted to see the outcome of your choices before committing to them. Only in this story tav gets one shot of course. So it’s like tav goes back in time and they choose if they want to romance him all over (depending on how far tav goes back) or just save him and never look back (but like of course tav stays bc this is the Astarion they love and remembers so by the end they’re so happy when they get all that sweet stuff with non ascended Astarion. Rather if he or anyone else other than tav finds out about the time jump is up to you, the writer. Maybe he gets random moments of dejavu and perhaps when the outcome changes he’s a bit confused. Maybe right before shit hits the fan he has a nightmare about the old timeline I could see that being how he remembers. And like the guilt (bc by this point he’s in love with tav) like how could this have happened? He cause so much pain to the one he loves. And like maybe he chooses himself not to do the ritual rather than others trying to stop him. That’s a fun idea to toy with too. But I think tav being stressed about making the choices all over us fun too.

Anyway someone please write this. Or if someone has and you’ve seen it link me tag me whatever I gotta read.

Warning. Contains spoilers for stranger things season 4

Finally watched the 4th season of stranger things after dodging the internet and any major spoilers. However from time to time I’d see vague(luckily) reactions to Will and ppl being upset with Mike. I went into the season expecting Mike to be a jerk at some point but I get to the scene in the car and even though I’m super straight I could see Will was practically confessing to Mike and was just sad bc he knows Mike is super in love with El and won’t return those feelings.

This doesn’t make Mike the bad guy. He can’t help who he loves any more than Will can apparently. So I’m lost at how Mike is the worst person. This season a lot of characters were going through their own things inside their own heads but everyone had came around by the end including Mike who definitely apologizes to Will from the standoffish behavior when he 1st came to visit. So idk if the reactions I seen were being malicious or was just reacting bc they were hurt and felt bad for Mike. I just don’t see how Mike is the worst person in the world bc he won’t return those feelings. And it’s not like Will outwardly confessed to get an actual ‘sorry I see us as just friends’ or even a not so kind rejection.

Speaking of romance I am not sure I appreciated this whole redirect of Nancy still having some chemistry with Steve. Even though he did have a big character arc over the seasons and has completely become one of the most lovable characters in the show I can’t see him and Nancy back together. Like just bc they kept Jonathan away to create tension with college issue and have other characters point out how much Nancy cared about him or him about her doesn’t make it okay. Idk. I mean shit happens over time people can naturally drift a part. It’s quite possible Nancy will drift apart from Johnathan and back to Steve.

But overall I enjoyed this reason a lot. The group being split into 3 (counting the adults) and each part was interesting none one of the changing scenes were clearly the least exciting one. Everyone had a relevant role to play.

My other other thoughts after finishing it late last night is that by the end Max was brought back to life. This is the 1st time someone confirmed dead was brought back. Correct me if I’m wrong but everyone who’s died on screen has stayed dead so far. And you can reasonably hold on to hope for Hopper bc we never actually saw a body. But in spite of Lucas fighting his little scrawny butt off and El trying her very best Henry still got to Max and killed her, setting off the chain of events at the end. Idk what El did but I was surprised to see her alive(but unconscious) in the hospital rather than a gravestone. And no one seems to know what she had done as everyone is like ‘it’s a miracle’ and the cam kinda focuses on El’s face. What are going to be the repercussions of bringing someone to life for her? She’s never used her powers like that before. And what’s going to happen to Max. Her eyes were damaged so she probably won’t be able to see. But I’m sure they’ll have an explanation in the next season but this was something that’s been on my mind.

Final thing on my mind is Will is about to play a vital role for the next/last(?) season since it got ominous with Will saying he could feel Henry. If this the last season it feels right since (finding/saving)Will was the focus in season 1. So with it ending with Will makes it all come full circle. I can’t wait for the next season to drop

Guys. I’ve been obsessed with Encanto (like many of us) I’m starting to search the net for fanfics with Bruno shipped with an oc or just a reader fic (bc I’m obsessed with this rat husband) and I have noticed a few things.

If the fic is set post movie and mc was with Bruno before the wall, she just forgives him right off the bat.

If the fic was set post movie and Bruno meets mc afterwards it just shows him forgiving everyone.

Where’s the conflict? Sure I can just ‘write my own’ if I wanna see something. But I’m wondering is there any fics where Bruno doesnt forgive his family right away? Or just address it more? I guess I feel this way bc the movie glossed the hell over that imo. Or is there a fic where the mc who knew Bruno before the walls doesn’t just kiss and make up right then and there? Like who forgives someone who just disappears without a word for 10 years? Is that my petty coming through? Like obvious I know why he did it but from a character perspective?

Anyway if y’all know something I’d appreciate a fic recommendation.

Finally leaving the Hulu hell and branching back to Disney plus to catch up on my marvel shit. Watching Loki and I must say I have some feelings:

Episode 1: feelings. So many. Wounds from Infinity War and Endgame came crashing down as I’m reminded my man died within the first few minutes of infinity war. He watches the life he should have had in his original timeline and I’m in tears. Once again I’m hurting over all his character development over dark world and ragnarock and just to be killed off like that?! I’m still hurt. But seeing his face as he watched those key moments broke me. His reaction to seeing his own death.

Existential crisis for days. I spent so long following the build up of the infinity saga. The infinity stones being introduced slowly but surely, thanos, the damn infinity war and endgame being the pay off. Just to see all those damn stones in a drawer…used as a paper weight. We lost Vision, Tony and Natasha over them damn stones. Thanos was the big bad for the last decade bc of how the stage was set to snatch them stones and fuck over life. It’s like everything we’ve experienced so far is meaningless. In real life I find myself feeling it whenever I take a moment to realize how vast the universe is. The sun is bigger than earth, other stars are bigger than our own sun. Light years away are other stars with their own solar systems all within our milky way with a big ass black hole in the middle and there’s other galaxies that we’ll never reach with other planets (saw a video once showing me a perspective and I haven’t been the same since) like we’re so small. Everyone and everything is small. A powerful moment was that humming sound from the tesseract (not sure if I’m spelling it right) was silent the moment Loki realized how useless those stones actually are sitting in a drawer. No amount of fun Loki banter can distract me from the thoughts I had even after this scene was over.

The TVA being not what it appears blew me away. Maybe I was too busy crying over Loki to notice any obvious signs. The workers being variants the whole time? My mind is blown. I actually a little sad to see Mobius go.

Not sure how I feel about Loki’s love interest being himself??? I mean part of it is I don’t wanna acknowledge any on screen romance bc my self insert/oc is hurt😂 but getting past that I think this is a big deal. Maybe we shouldn’t take it literal. The thing that can fuck with any timeline is a Loki who loves themselves and holds themselves in esteem. Mobius said Loki’s are bad people that brings out the best in everyone else. Why is that? Because Loki’s feeling insecure and hating themselves turn that self hate outwards and fucks with everyone else. Imagine what a Loki is capable of if they had a good support system? Like I’m gonna assume that’s why Sylvia got snatched up at such a young age she knew early on she was adopted unlike our Loki so I imagine she had a better family life. Happy Loki’s are a no. So a Loki loving themselves (not necessarily literal with Loki falling for Sylvie) is the key to fucking shit up and being a real threat. So I can only imagine what’s gonna happen with a group of Loki’s working together I only made it to episode 4 so maybe my theory is dead wrong.

I know this is probably a dead fandom even though this show has been running for YEARS. I’m taken on the project of rewatching Law and order: SVU in order thanks to my Hulu subscription and I couldn’t stay silent on my findings from this episode.

Season 10 episode 19 is a missing child case turning south, resulting a shift from a bad parent who murdered her child to an issue about vaccinating children since the young victim ultimately had died from the measles. The SVU squad is having a conversation on the parents right to choose on rather or not to vaccinate. And can I just say I’m hollering that Olivia is more or less neutral and not as upset about a unvaccinated child as Eliot (who has a squad of children). Now she’s not blaming the parent who let her unvaccinated child roaming the public park but in seasons later when she eventually adopts her son Noah the issue of vaccination is called into question once more once her immunocompromised son gets sick. I get that having children can change one’s opinion about things. Children can change a persons whole life style. But I’m sitting here laughing knowing that in a few seasons (years in the universe of the show) she will be singing an entirely different tune.
