💔 I never thought I’d write something like this… But we’ve truly lost everything.

We had a simple home — nothing fancy — but it was ours. Filled with laughter, memories, and years of hard work. Then, in one moment, it was all gone. Our home was bombed. Reduced to rubble.

Since then, we’ve been moving from place to place. No stability. No privacy. No safety. Just trying to survive each day.

We also lost our jobs. Our source of income. Our sense of normal life. We’re not living — we’re barely getting by.

This isn’t easy to share. But we’re asking, with all humility, for your help.

We are asking you with all shame to support and stand by us in these difficult circumstances that everyone knows because we lost our home, our work and any stable source of income. Thank you all.

We have been through many wars before, but this war was not like the ones before it. Our lives were turned upside down. We became displaced from one place to another. We are the Anas family, residents of northern Gaza, specifically in the Shujaiya area. In the first week of the war, we fled our home because everyone considered our home to be in a dangerous area. We moved to the Rimal area, specifically in the middle of Gaza. There, we received the news that our home, which contained all our beautiful memories, was bombed. Suddenly, it was gone!!! Just thinking that your home, which you worked hard on and built from scratch and took a lot of your life, was gone in less than a second ! After a while, we left the sands to the Al-Zawaida area because of the heavy shelling. We stayed there for about two weeks, and then the terrorist army asked us to go to Rafah. We actually fled for the fourth time to Rafah and stayed there for two months, some of the most difficult days of our lives, as there was no way or means to live a normal life. 😔😔

My husband has become a prisoner of the Israeli occupation😭😭

After we were besieged in Rafah for more than four days, the tent was demolished over my heads, my children, and my husband, and we were able to miraculously escape. For those whose story of escape was not complete, because they were able to capture my husband and he is now their prisoner after he was injured in his feet from the bombing. My child was also exposed to danger and underwent a difficult surgical operation that failed. My family is now without a father, without a breadwinner for us, in light of this war and this catastrophic famine. I cannot provide food and drink for my children, nor can I provide treatment for my sick child. Please help us by donating to save us from danger.

I’m writing this not as someone seeking pity, but as a mother who has no other choice but to speak.

Imagine holding your baby in the middle of the night, not because she cried, but because the world outside roared too loud for either of you to sleep. Imagine whispering bedtime stories not to lull her into dreams, but to keep the fear from settling into her tiny bones.

This is my life.

This is my daughter’s life.

And even now — especially now — I believe in softness. I believe in kindness. Because when everything else is taken from you, hope becomes the most valuable thing you have.

Why I’m Reaching Out Our home has been damaged. Our lives changed. But through it all, my daughter wakes up every morning with a smile. She reaches for me with trust, with love, with faith that I will keep her safe.

That’s why I keep going.

constituencies for reference: 2020 against 2025.

tampines changkat is transparent as can be; east coast shifts east and removes all of changi. i think that they wanted to take changi and put it with pasir ris to ensure PAP victory there. the east is much more aligned with the opposition than the west is, and it's clear with the far more drastic boundary adjustments in the east.

jalan kayu, part of ang mo kio grc (which was a PAP stronghold in 2020), which is strange; punggol was formed from punggol west and the punggol part of punggol-pasir ris, both of which were >60% PAP in 2020. i find the WP's almost-lead quite interesting here, and i'm hoping for their victory in both!

sembawang west is extremely obvious (come on chee soon juan!) tampines was essentially unchanged from 2020, sans the removal of tampines changkat, which was almost certainly to carve up the WP voters and ensure PAP victories in both areas. although the opposition did screw up with the four-way fight.

oh! furthermore: queenstown SMC (a new one) was just officially announced as PAP.

tanjong pagar has actually historically been a very strange GRC, having constant walkovers till 2015, and then only having a 60% PAP vote in 2020. given that singaporeans often reduce the entire opposition into a single bloc (due to the PAP's dominance), it does make sense that there would be about the same number of PAR voters this year as PSP voters in 2020. hence cutting off queenstown to get a guaranteed PAP seat.

Just imagine seeing the silent scrappy black hole stomach of a child who humored you until one day she wasn’t there back and now she’s back and she’s at least outwardly doing well

She's in her 20s now, and she no longer jumps like every shadow is hiding something more sinister. Her eyes still look haunted, with a knowledge of something that unsettles you. But there's a weight lifted from her shoulders and you see it in the way she smiles at you. You ask her if she wants a drink. She orders the whole menu instead, with money she never had as a kid.

You ask her if she's doing well. She's limping, bruises and cuts clearly visible on her arms. She says she is. When you last saw her as a child, she was always careful to hide her injuries. You believe her.
