🌳🌲Forests are vital for the health of our planet, they provide food and shelter for so much of life on Earth. Trees help absorb and store harmful carbon dioxide which is released into the atmosphere, they provide the oxygen that we need to breathe, have a big influence on rainfall patterns, water, soil quality and flood prevention too.
It is estimated that 19 million acres of forest are cut down per year, and is continuing at an unsustainable pace. Forests are often cleared to allow room for farmland to grow crops or the trees are harvested for paper products. Cultivating Industrial hemp as an alternative raw source for paper would remove the need to cut down the already declining and ancient forests.
Trees can take hundreds of years to grow, we cant replenish the forests fast enough to cope with the rate of deforestation, and its become one of the biggest threats to wildlife, the natural world and the climate.
Hemp crops can be grown in 12-14 weeks, take up less space, they don't damage the soil in fact they replenish it with goodness ready for the next crop, they need very little water to grow, absorb 4 times as much CO2 as trees do and can also remove toxic chemicals from the soil.
Deforestation affects us all, whether we realise it or not and we simply can not fight the climate crisis if we don’t stop deforestation. However, transitioning to hemp could literally save our trees, and ultimately, our planet.
