"Jack had told him many times over the years how far he would go to protect his son. It seemed ridiculous now to think that he never considered him as a genuine threat after Jack had so clearly announced it to him." - new chapter
I NOTICED!! Ever since that "To Each their Beast" talk those fuckers had, I noticed! I started paying attention waaay back and man, it has always been so glaringly obvious. Here is some stuff I went back and got that I remembered off the top of my head:
"But most of all, he hated the idea that Jack might be a better father than he was."
"He could find a way. If he had been born a simple mortal human and become who he was now, then he had proof that it was possible. J.J. didn't want to die, and he was relying on the man he chose to be his guardian to keep him safe鈥攊n his sleep, in the dark, before the teeth of would-be killers, and in the face of impossibly powerful beings鈥擩.J. was relying on Jack to save him when he couldn't save himself. And he would do it. He would do it all because, blood or not, that boy was his son. And not even Time itself was allowed to harm his son."
"That thing, whatever Edmund is, is powerful beyond reason. If I can befriend him, make him an ally, and get him to do what I want, I wouldn't hesitate for a second in asking him to rip holes in reality or time or whatever to keep J.J. alive. I'd do anything. Trust me on that." Jack leaned back in his chair again, raising his beer to his lips for another sip and bringing his feet up to rest on the coffee table. "To each their Beast."
"Maybe he didn't belong with humans and maybe he didn't belong with Alreesh. But Jack knew, no matter what, he would always belong with his Dad."
Ah yes, I do love to play with foreshadowing. It's good to see that these things get picked up on 馃槉 Jack is taking fatherhood very seriously this time and part of his determination was actually inspired by seeing how fiercely the Doctor and Harry protect their family. The Torchwood series, particularly Children of Earth, was quite eye-opening to who Jack is as a person, especially when pushed into a corner. I think the Doctor especially underestimates him and kind of takes for granted that Jack is on his side, always assuming he's in charge.

Hey guys,
Sorry for the silence. It's been a pretty hectic two weeks. The day I came home from camping, a close friend of mine had a major family emergency. He has been going through something very tough and a lot of my free time has gone towards offering support where I can. At the same time, Chaplin (my dog) has declined significantly and also needed more of my time and attention in his final days.
He has an appointment to be euthanized tomorrow and that, of course, comes with its own challenges for me. He's been a great dog, glued to my ankle like my own shadow, and these last few days have been hard. Tonight, he's keeping me company while I write for the last time.

Anyway, my focus hasn't been great, but the chapter is very close to being complete. Thanks for sticking with me.

The chapter 66 experience (my prediction):
"Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck-" /
"I'm so fucked, I'm so fucked." /
"I fucked it, it's so fucked." /
"Oh, I am SCREWING it up"
- The Doctor, all in one moment.
He's trying really hard to hold it together. I'm hoping to have the chapter up later tonight as it's quite close to being finished. There's just one little part that's being a real pain 馃槢

My little guy has a ticket to cross the Rainbow Bridge next week. As befits such an occasion, the diet and rules are completely out the window. Tonight's dinner was a bacon cheeseburger all to his dang self 馃挄

Hey, what happened to Harry's Oxford gig?
He still has it. That's why Max referred to him as "the teacher". It's the middle of summer in the story so he isn't actively teaching classes at the moment and it has only been a couple of days on Earth, so not enough time has passed for him to be missed yet.

Hey guys! I forgot to mention that I'm camping this week, thus the silence. Will be back on Monday and hopefully have the new chapter ready soon after.

I have also noticed spell check has become nearly useless. I'm constantly correcting auto-fixes, telling it to ignore things it thinks are errors, and deleting utter nonsense words that it just makes up. I swear, the technology was more helpful ten years ago than it is now.
billions of dollars and untold environmental damage for this groundbreaking technology

Working on chapter 66 and it's another Doctor one. I'm trying to shift into his mindset and my brain just got stuck on a loop repeating "Harry's pissed. He's so mad. God, Harry is so angry." Apparently the Doctor might be struggling a bit to focus in this one 馃槄

Jinnar or The Master (from the Gallifrey recently visited) Vs Jack. I think it would be fun, given that Timelord ick they would probably get from him. A general ick, if they're feeling snoopy, perhaps.
Ohh, that would be fun but brutal 馃槀 I don't think Jack would stand much chance against either one, especially now that both have spent over a century in war, but his immortality is always an interesting complication. The Master is fast and Jinnar is strong in ways that Jack simply isn't. Unless he was able to shoot them before the real fight started, I think Jack's only option would be to wait it out and exhaust them.

Was wondering about how different characters that have never met would interact with each other, and thought about Brody meeting Kelevra. I think they would get along quite well, and they both happen to be ace so maybe that would help them bond.
Then I realized that Brody's biology as a Ginu'un, being all full of electricity, would royally fuck with Kel's own senses and ability to read him. Any Ginu'un would be wildly uncomfortable/overwhelming for him to be around. He would have to rely solely on speech and body language to communicate, while having the equivalent of a jackhammer going off in his head. It would suck so bad but it's got me wondering how the hell they would navigate that other than to simply avoid them.
Torchwood does need new crew 馃
#I do love torturing the poor things#I'd say three hours exposure before Kel is at serious risk of a sensory meltdown#biology 101

Random question for you guys: If you could watch any two of the characters from the series (dead or alive) fight each other in earnest, who would you match up?
#thinking about ganbri's new berserker mode#I love Nista but realistically he loses a lot#Boris vs the Beast was fun

Could Karma actually see Kahlia?
No, that was just Harry's perception. She was reacting to Harry's tension and Harry could see Kahlia standing directly behind Kel's chair. Karma was just moving around the chair itself, but Harry saw it as her moving around Kahlia. Karma, sadly, is not telepathic and didn't know or see anything other than that Harry was distressed.
