The 1,000 Years Wait

Sorry that this took me so damn long, I hope you enjoy, I very happy Pixal is back and I love that they made Zane YEARN this season. So I continued the yearning!

“It has been a long time for me.”

It’s a weighted statement given the circumstances. Years, it’s been years, years of a loveless agony, years searching for the love of his life, hoping that he will be able to find her, and maybe just maybe not lose her again.

Thankfully, the agony is over! She’s physically here! She’s not a photograph on a broom, or a distant voice in the back of his mind, anymore, no, she’s here!

“How is that?”

Sitting up, Zane rolls his shoulder and neck before massaging the base of his neck as if he had aching muscles and joints while getting comfortable being back in a regular body once again, “Perfect, thank you, Pixal.”

She smiles, reorganizing her tools in their proper place ever so slightly, “I will admit it was nice to be 'larger than life'; however, it is nice to be of a normal size once again, Zane comments.

“The size was quite impractical, I will admit, but it was to keep you alive,” she replies.

“A price I would pay ten times over if I might save more people,” Zane adds.

“I know,” Pixal sighs with a small smile.

Zane smiles, sitting atop the worktable, enjoying the sight of his wife in the same space; her presence has lifted a weight off his shoulder. There is no more wondering where she is, the dark thoughts that continue to tell him that she was no longer alive, now gone because she is physically here, no longer that distant voice in the back of his head that made him dream of the days when he had her neuro chip within his system.

“You are staring,” Pixal remarks softly, side-eyeing him with a loving gaze.

“I cannot help it. I am very happy you are here with me. These past years have been agonizing, to say the least.”

“I am sorry my absence caused you pain,” she coos, approaching him, standing between his legs.

Zane wraps his arms around her. “Do not apologize, as you said before, you are here now.”

“It is rather odd that we both ended up in techno-cocoons, as you called them, in differing monasteries post-merge,” She began to think aloud, “Where we do have many enemies.” Zane softly chuckles, watching her think with a loving grin across his lips, “But who exactly would put us in those cocoons?”

“Who knows…” Zane mutters, uncharacteristically, as he continues to stare at her while she speaks, pulling her closer to him.

“The only logical conclusion I can come up with is that someone found us in our respective monasteries after the merge and cased us in the techno-cocoons. However, that leaves many unanswered questions!” Zane hums softly, acting as if he were listening while glancing at her lips. She continues, “Who is that individual or individuals? How were the techno-cocoons created? Were we in stasis, or were we damaged, maybe a combination of the two? Were the cocoons to protect us? Were the techno-cocoons already in the monasteries?” Pixal scoffs, shaking her head, “I wish I could examine the cocoons, maybe find something that would give a clue to their—”

Any other time, Zane would be more than happy to listen to her ramble, even interject with his own theories and thoughts, and work as a team to come to a conclusion that is logically sound and doesn’t have too many holes. Yet, if you were to ask him what she was talking about at that very moment, he would not have an answer, probably for the first time in his life that he had not actively listened to her.

No, he would much rather kiss her while holding her close.

The kiss catches her a bit off guard, but conversely, it is not unwanted. A content sigh passing from her is enough of an indication of that, as he pulls her even closer to him, before her hands settle at the base of his neck. They have kissed before, many times, albeit typically short and brief kisses in front of others and longer, more passionate kisses shared in private. Believe it or not, Zane is a very affectionate person, so nothing about this abrupt interaction is shocking or new. No, not astonishing, rather it is very wanted and needed.

Oh, and how good it feels. Kissing each other feels like floating on air, and that is something Zane has been desperate to feel once again for a year. Which explains the amount of passion and force behind their kiss, why his hold is so tight, and why she is basically on top of him as he leans back against the table. It's almost like a chase, in a manner of speaking, it’s chasing of an unbelievable high, kissing one another feels far too good to stop, and yet, from a view of social etiquette, the fact that they have been kissing for so long is certainly taboo. Her hands cradling the back of his neck, and his hands planted on her waist as she is principally on top of him, lips locked in a tremendous, heated passion.

It’s heaven!

The elevator dinging, indicating that someone was not only in it but also about to enter the hangar, didn’t seem to pull their attention. They continue to kiss as Cole steps out of the elevator before yelling, “Hey Zane, you got Pixal—” a ball of ice slams into the wall holding the elevator, not quite hitting Cole’s head, but a little too close for comfort, “WHAT THE—”

“GET OUT!” Zane yells from across the hangar, still kissing Pixal, however, moving from her lips to her cheek.

“WHAT THE HELL, MAN!” Cole shrieked as yet another ball of ice hit the elevator button, causing the doors to open.

“NOW!” Zane orders loudly before Cole quickly leaves, so as not to become frozen.

Pixal laughs as Zane continues to kiss her face and her neck, a hand resting against the base of his hairline, and her other arm resting against his shoulder, with his arms around her. “You will have to apologize to Cole,” she exhales.

“Later,” He grunts into her skin.

I loved Dragons Rising Season 3 Part 1 but I do have some issues. In this post is my main issue at the moment.

SPOILERS KINDA, NOTHING BIG THO!

Where is MiniPix Seven?! I expected her to be with her mother but she isn’t there and Zane and Pixal aren’t even worried?! Pixal watched the other MiniPix die yet when learning that she awoke from the Nindroid equivalent of a coma she doesn’t ask where her daughter is or looks for her? Not even a single mention of her! Maybe she is in her own miniature pod somewhere possibly in the monastery that Pixal was in. Some of my friends have also theorized that the directors forgot about her or because a lot of people disliked Crystalized they retconned her out. I hope not, I liked Crystalized but that’s not the point, I also am fond of MiniPix Seven. She is adorable and I love the idea of Pixal, Zane, and MiniPix Seven being a little family. So I suggest we beg for her to return and maybe get an equivalent to the Sonic Movie redesigns and have them change their minds and bring her back. But for now enjoy a bit of fanfic writing on my idea of Zane and Pixal looking for their daughter.

Zane held Pixal in his arms as he flew to the monastery that her pod was found in. He landed in the courtyard and gently but swiftly let her down. Not long after the ninja celebrated the defeat of Thunderfang, Zane and Pixal had let Lloyd know of their plans and left the moment he gave the nindroids permission to go. They had already thoroughly checked the site of the train crash for any sign of MiniPix Seven but found nothing. As Pixal ran through the entrance, Zane ducked under the doorway to follow her. “MiniPix Seven? Are you here? Can you hear me?” He asked, trying to remain calm but dread still could be heard from his voice.

Pixal turned to her husband. “Zane my love she likely cannot hear us.” She said in a dire tone, yet also still in that sweet voice that Zane adored. “You and I were both found deactivated in pods so most likely the same is true for our daughter.” Our daughter, Zane thought, yes our daughter, although the MiniPix were made to be assistants for Pixal, she, just like her father with her, had grown to love them like a parent loves their children. After the tragic death of the rest of the MiniPix, Zane had watched as Pixal made upgrade after upgrade to MiniPix Seven, wanting to make her stronger, harder to kill. She wasn’t allowed to grieve when it happened, the world needed the ninja and Samurai X, so Pixal had to be strong. Zane remembered the night when Pixal finally felt as though she was able to grieve. They were staying with Cyrus Borg in Borg Tower while plans for the new Monastery of Spinjitzu were being made. Pixal had practically thrown herself onto him as she sobbed into his chest. Zane held her, comforting the woman he loved. Zane was built to protect those who cannot protect themselves, Pixal was built to assist. Zane protected as the Titanium Ninja and Pixal assisted the ninja as Samurai X, they were partners yes, but they were also lovers. And then, when Pixal sobbed about feeling like she failed her children, he held her, rubbing her back and rocking her, like she does for him when he has panic attacks, when the room fills slowly with frost as he loses control of his emotions and powers, when he saw the blood of the countless people he had killed as the Ice Emperor, Pixal was able to make it all go away, she knew his mind after all. Yes, Pixal was made to assist, but at that moment she needed his assistance just like sometimes he needed her protection. As time passed, Pixal grief began to fade, but never disappeared. She had become extremely protective of MiniPix Seven, yelling at her own teammates whenever they did something that Pixal deemed to dangerous around her little one. And of course as Pixal’s boyfriend, Zane was a part of MiniPix Seven’s life. The little droid had quickly warmed up to Zane, playing with him, sharing a room with him and Pixal, and even accompanied them often. She wasn’t his child, but she was Pixal’s, and that was enough for Zane to love her as his own.

“Right yes, of course. My emotions must have clouded my logic parameters.” Zane replied as he remembered the day MiniPix Seven accidentally called him her father. At the time, besides him, Pixal, Nya, and Jay, the team was still slowly learning what her beeps and chirps meant, but Zane heard it clearly. Zane knew he wanted to marry Pixal, so if Pixal’s daughter saw him as her dad then he’d be her dad.

“She’s not anywhere up here!” Pixal cried out as she and Zane rushed to the elevator down to the hangar bay. Zane reached out, his claw wrapped around Pixal’s hand. He felt her thumb rubbing against his claw and he felt her titanium wedding ring, his own ring was on a necklace that he was wearing as this new body did not allow him to wear it normally, this new body also didn’t allow them to have intercourse, a bonding activity which both he Pixal enjoyed very much. Thankfully this body was only temporary until Pixal could repair the vast damage that was inflicted on his normal one. He looked at the markings on his ring, Zane and Pixal in their line of work needed repairs and replacements often, and instead of tossing scraps of his and Pixal’s skin or well the metal that protects their endoskeletons and wires that they called skin was repurposed into their wedding rings, his ring was made of Pixal’s scraps and her ring was made of his scraps. It was gruesome to many but to them it was a way to keep each other close. His thoughts were interrupted by the elevator doors opening and the two rushed out, looking desperately for their lost child. They noticed boxes that were likely a result of Rampton and his freebooters planing to make a second looting trip. They sat down and looked in every box until Zane heard his wife gasp.

“Pixal my love, what is it?” Zane looked up at her, seeing a small pod in her hands. He immediately grabbed Pixal by the waist and pulled her to sit with him on his thigh as he sat crisscross applesauce. Pixal activated the pod and as it opened, Zane and Pixal cried tears of relief as they saw MiniPix Seven. The little droid buzzed to life and soon the pod was discarded as Zane and Pixal held her. “Oh my little one, me and your mother were so worried about you!”

MiniPix Seven took a moment to take in Zane’s new form but she almost immediately recognized her father as well as her mother. She chirped happily. “Mama! Papa!” She said with her little chirps, gibberish to many, but music to her parents’s ears.

“Oh my sweet baby!” Pixal cried. “I thought I lost you! I can’t take the thought losing another child!” Pixal felt Zane hold her tighter. For her it was a few days not knowing where MiniPix Seven was, for Zane it was years not knowing where his wife and daughter were. Regardless, the three of them were finally together again. As she leaned against her husband she noticed his ring and smiled, they were married, not legally, as nindroids they weren’t legally people either. But they loved each other and they loved their daughter, and years with the rest of the ninja had taught them that love is what truly makes a family. Not the law, not biology, just love and only love, and that’s all that mattered to them.

I binged watched dragons rising part 1 of season three when it was released but I now have time to talk so expect posts about it

SPOILERS (ONLY SLIGHTLY THO)

Zane is soooooooooo sweet! He is so gentle with Pixal in his new bigger body! He gently holds her hand, he helps her out of her car like a gentleman, he follows her around like a lovesick puppy in a few scenes, and I need to see him hold her. Like gently hold her. Even better he is so gentle with her but he literally swatted a flying Dragonian out of the sky like a bug but then continued to be gentle with Pixal and it is so cute! He adores his wife! (They are married in my eyes)

They are truly two halves of a whole. Adding to this, I find that personality wise, Pixal is more energetic and headstrong while Zane is more calm and reserved. Of course this is all thrown out then window when a loved one is in danger, then they will stop at nothing to protect their loved ones. (Nya, Jay, Kai, Cole, Lloyd, Cyrus Borg, Dr. Julian, Echo Zane (if they ever meet again), MiniPix Seven, Sora, Arin, Wyldfire, and Frak)

So when Zane said “I love the other ninja, but you are the only one who thinks the way I do” he may be interpreting it as such, but in reality he and Pixal think in a way that together they think as a whole. Also in a few moments of dragons rising and one time in the original show that I can recall Zane and Pixal seem to have the ability to guess or know or maybe predict what the other is thinking just by looking at each other. In the original show I forgot the episode but I think it’s in season 11, Zane and Pixal look at each other and are able to coordinate an attack (climbing up a building wall to jump off of it at the same time to knock a light pole down on group of enemies) So maybe due to them sharing a body for years they can either fully or partially communicate via eye contact!

Bonus: When Zane’s trauma resurfaces (Example: Having a panic attack because something reminded him of the Ice Emperor) Pixal is the first one to come to his aid or she is the first one the ninja call to help.

Mild spoilers for DRs3p1

I think it’s really interesting how Zane and Pixal’s problem solving and priorities compliment each other, specifically regarding environment. Both in DR 3.4 and back in the ToE, Zane is very goal-oriented: “We need to get out of here,” “We need to find Chen,” “We need to stop Nokt”. Meanwhile, Pixal is more cognizant of physical danger: warning Zane about going so fast she can’t evaluate obstacles, pushing Zane back from colliding with a rock, trying to stop the train from crashing. It’s a small detail but it really conveys a lot about their characters: Zane is ambitious and selfless, unfazed by threats to his own safety, while Pixal is practical and grounded, keeping both of them safe and not letting Zane get so caught up in robo-adrenaline that he loses sight of other factors
