This is a perfect example of how you can model the future from the present. It's something I do everyday.

2,000 people a minute 2.9 million new users a day Expected to break 50 million users by the end of the week (they already had over 30 million)
Instagram is a force to be reckoned with.

This is a really solid, smart approach. I've always thought Berlin, with all of it's creative destruction, would turn the entrepreneurial corner and it looks like it's about to. It's interesting that the privacy constraints are actually turning into a strength.

I'd say that the lack of love, or indifference, goes both ways. Amazon and Seattle have a good working relationship but that's about it.

Early last year I made the prediction that Amazon's app store would do better than Google's app market. I may have been a little early with that one but it looks like I would eventually be right.
Reports are coming in that developers can make almost as much money on Amazon's app market as they can on Apple's.
In pure volume obviously Google will always have the edge but in revenue Amazon is killing Google. And while we're on the topic, the new name of the Google app market, Play, is lame IMO.

Please tell me this is an April Fools Day Joke. I just can't see @aplusk pulling this off. Maybe he'll prove me wrong but I'm just not seeing it.

It's easy to make these guys the scapegoat and while I don't necessarily like the app, it's important to note that it wasn't violating any rules from Facebook or Foursquare. People need to take more responsibility for their personal data if they don't want it used.

Great example of how *not* to react to an employee leaving. What should he have said? Absolutely nothing. Just shut up and cash your check.

Maybe Google should just give up on all their real products and just become the tech version of The Onion. Some really good fun in here. A few duds, but good geek humor.

We live in such crazy times but I think that we're sometimes tempted to believe things are normalizing and settling into something resembling "regular." I think we have a long way to go before we get there. Especially in markets like China.

These are bleak options indeed but what would you do if you were running RIM?
