First time I ever tried rendering in color via procreate and decided to do a little hand study of my fav gay trio representing my fav fictional gay trio. They were friends in the 80s and nothing bad ever happened to them! Not even my practice exercises can escape my gravity falls hyperfixation. (Full speed paint up on my tiktok for however long that sticks around)

Disappointed (but not really surprised) that after all these years of staggering success, mass appeal and all that talk about being a singularly unique shared cinematic universe, the MCU has finally managed to inherit all the problems comic books have always been notorious for. Continuity Issues. Character power levels being a joke at this point, power levels basically change from scene to scene depending on what the writers need to happen (the most recent examples being LOKI, Thanos in What If…? E03). Confusing Timelines, with time travel rules making of course, next to no sense. Consequences pretty much don’t exist, as huge status quo changing events are hyped up only to be never mentioned again. Character dynamics and established conflict between them are abandoned at the drop of a hat for plot specific, flashy fight montages, never to be addressed on screen again. Civil War was supposed to be about this huge rift between the Avengers with the promise of huge consequence in the near future, all we got was Tony feeling awkward for a few seconds in Infinity War, because he didn’t want to make a phone call which someone else (Bruce) ended up making anyway. Then there’s the ridiculous one-sided argument in Endgame where he’s advocating for a surveillance state as if the entire point of Age of Ultron wasn’t how bad of an idea that is? Characters being in stasis, or in some cases having their entire arcs undone. Any attempts to further meaningfully explore Tony’s character psychology were pretty much given up after phase 1. He got his self-sacrifice arc all the way back in The Avengers, and then tries to deal with his PTSD and self-worth issues in Iron Man 3 as he accepts that he’s more than just the suit, all they did with his character after that just felt like a systematic regression of sorts? So they could put him in the exact same position in Endgame that he was in 7 years ago and frame it as some sort of pivotal character moment…? What was done to Steve in Endgame doesn’t even bear repeating. Retcons. Characterization fluctuates wildly from one movie (comic run) to another due to the personal preferences of directors/writers. See, Thor & Loki in every movie before and after Ragnarok. Standalone media falling prey to setting up crossover events instead of focusing on telling a proper self-contained story. (again, LOKI and to some extent, WandaVision) Comic Book Death is going to be a thing now with the existence of multiple timelines. And finally, the overwhelming amounts of tie-ins audiences are expected to keep up with if they want to have a chance at understanding what the fuck is going on in the latest entry in the franchise. Right, comic book reading orders look intimidating right now? Let’s see how the MCU watch order looks like few years down the line what with audiences having to keep up with every D+ release to follow the movies.
It’s a shame really, because the MCU had this unique opportunity to use film as a medium to tell big stories full of consistent, meaningful and lasting status quo altering choices, something that’s impossible to do with comics because of the cyclic nature of the industry. Except they didn’t.
They just ended up becoming comics in the end.

my all time favorite thing when it comes to loki fics is when they write him in as an avenger. it's just. chefs kiss. the best trope to ever exist. and i love thinking of the implications of it and how it came to be.
like i just imagine thor going, "yes, he did try to kill all of us and take over the world, but he was mindcontrolled and tortured"
and the avengers just have to go along with it. because if they don't take him in, they're hypocrites. bucky, natasha, clint, wanda, and bruce were all used by the bad guys, so what makes loki any different? so they're forced to just kinda keep him around.
"yes he helps us and is an ally but also he's a bastard and we all hate him even though he's invited to game night every saturday" - every single avenger at some point

Happy: “Kid–,”
Peter, looking absolutely betrayed: “Were you ever going to tell me?”
Happy: “I didn’t mean to lie to you, I swear. I thought you knew.”
Peter, dramatic as hell: “Five years.”
Happy: “Peter–,”
Peter: “I spent five years believing that your god-given name was Happy Hogan.”
Happy: “—I’ll buy you ice cream or something, anything, just please don’t cry—,”
Peter, already tearing up: “I don’t even know who you are anymore, Harold.”
