objective fame is weird, especially when it comes to tumblr. like, objectively speaking with a little over 2k followers on this blog i have more of a following than a fair amount of my irl friends have on other platforms, and like.... 2000 is not a small number of people by any means. but the way tumblr followings are viewed and treated as opposed to followings on different platforms? on no other platform (save maybe twitter) would a post about h*orny kovu urls be something a person with a somewhat large following be posting, but the climate of tumblr is such that posts like that are the norm. 

i guess what i’m trying to say is on tumblr ppl get large amounts of followers but because of a) the nature of this site in general and b) the way follower interaction is usually quite low it desensitizes us to how big the numbers actually are

About an hour and a half ago I felt a cat jump on my bed and settle down, curled up next to me. Ten minutes ago the cat started meowing quite a bit, and it occurred to me that this didn’t sound like the meowing from the cats I own
