Official Badge of Record Store Day

Dogfish Head is bringing off-centered beer and off-centered music together as the official brewery of Record Store Day! “Our brewery has been obsessed with music since before we opened our doors,” says Dogfish founder, Sam Calagione. “And these days, anytime I’m in the brewhouse, there’s something playing.” Inspired by Record Store Day, as well as the unique culture and special role that record stores play in their communities, it only made sense for a brewery that makes ‘Analog Beer for the Digital Age’ to be the Official Beer!
This year, Dogfish has teamed with old and new friends alike to bring you another round of exceptional offerings. Everything from nationwide events to a collaboration beer with The Flaming Lips called Dragons & YumYums!

Join the celebration of independent music and beer by unlocking this brand new badge from Dogfish Head. Check-in to any one (1) of the following Dogfish Head beers between March 23rd - April 23rd and the “Official Badge of Record Store Day” is yours: Dragons & Yum Yums, 60 Minute IPA, 90 Minute IPA, Flesh & Blood IPA, Namate White, or SeaQuench Ale.
You can learn more about Dogfish Head’s collaboration at dogfish.com/rsd and be sure to connect on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter!

There has been a lot of cool stuff at #sxsw2018... baby goats come to mind... but this might have been the best. @wisconsincheese hosted a cheese lounge with every kind of cheese imaginable. #sxswisconsin #cheese #cheeselovers #cheeselover #ilovecheese #letsgetcheesy #wisconsincheese #wisconsin (at JW Marriott Austin)

It really should have a question mark. But this is taken near UT campus and we all know there are better academic institutions in the Big 12. #sxsw2018 #austin #hihowareyou #hihowareyoufrog (at Guadalupe Street)

Many years ago, I moved to Texas with no money and was lucky enough to get hired to join a ragtag team of marketers at Pabst Brewing Company in San Antonio. Yea, Pabst was based in San Antonio. It was weird. Our offices were at the old Pearl Brewery which was held together with scotch tape and bubble gum at that point. The brewery closed for good in 2001 and the grounds have been revitalized into a bars, restaurants, bike shops and more. It was awesome walking around the brewery tonight and remembering my early days in the beer biz. (at The Historic Pearl)

I don’t think I’ve ever been as excited or proud of a beer release. Major props to the entire team that worked on this project including @spustastudio, @interactboulder, @waynecoyne5 and @paulex. Here’s a look at this truly #offcentered packaging.

The short vacation in Florida is now over. Yesterday we did an airboat ride and drove to Key Largo for dinner. Then we got to experience some real Miami traffic. #aligators #florida #vacation #keylargo #miami (at BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI))

Yesterday, we drove from Orlando down to Miami and found that people here like to dance. In fact, they will dance anytime, anyplace. Then we did a touristy boat ride at sunset. Not pictured: our less than impressive dinner in Little Havana. (at Hampton Inn and Suites Ft. Lauderdale)

I’m in Florida this week to kick off the official start of the @dogfishhead sponsorship of Warrior Dash. It’s 85 down here. Lots of people are going to need a SeaQuench Ale after they get muddy, sweaty and thirsty. #warriornation #seaquenchale #dogfish #marketing (at South Clermont, Florida)

So they tore down the Rock ‘n Roll McDonalds in Chicago. I only went there once, so the actual building doesn’t hold any emotional significance to me. I really only have memories of it via Wesley Willis’ song by the same name.
I got to meet Wesley once at the Metro in Chicago when he was selling his CD’s at someone else’s show. He sold 1 for $10 or 2 for $20. His music was just him reciting crazy lyric over a pre-recorded track on a Casio keyboard, but he performed at SXSW about year before he died in 2003.
RIP Wesley Willis and RIP Rock n’ Roll McDonald’s.
