Pray to the gods not specifically to make Bakudeku/Togachako canon, but to make sure Izuocha is not canon. If we have an open-ended ending where no ship is determined, that would be much better than if we were to lose and if the dudebros won.

izuocha stans tryna say that next chapter will be an “izuocha moment” or whatever… when ochakos literally bending over, clutching her stomach, SOBBING over himiko is ABSURD. and u call US delusional GOODBYE 😭

im going to say something that might be surprising coming from me: if hori decided to make izu///ocha happen, I wouldnt be angry, and I could see why it could make sense for the story.

I personally dont think izu///ocha will happen and see their "romantic moments" as platonic/not focused on them as a couple, but if he were to make them happen I wont go around saying how the manga is pure trash and that he cant write anything.

These past weeks many stans of some characters have been dominating the general tags with doom posting and being mean, mainly because the ideas they were sure would happen in the manga were broken and denied, and I dont think we should do that if we end up in a similar position. Dont get me wrong, I would "mourn" that ending because I see the potential and the way the characters need something else to be fulfilled -I dont see how Izuku would fulfill anything with that, and Ochako's character would regress.

We still need to be respectful and not forget all the things we have enjoyed just because we dont get all the things we wanted -some of us criticize this about other parts of the fandom, so lets do our best to learn from those things.

As a bkdk and togachako, I would be heartbroken. As a reader, I would be confused and bored -in any case, if he ends up adding some sort of dramatic confession, I could appreciate a cute dialogue and drawing. Im not going to talk shit about the manga that has been a part of my life for such a long time just because there are decisions I cant enjoy.

When I say I can see how it would make sense I dont mean it as in well written, but as in "yeah, a shonen. They blushed, he thought about her words to remember he can try to save Shigaraki, and she said she fell in love with him". I can see how it could become canon, but there isnt much going on that would make me be happy or interested in them together at all -when I say theres no drama going on with them, its meant to be interpreted as "I dont see any romantic tension, or way this could further the plot nor serve the characters. This is mainly to have a classic shonen ending, not because the story needs it from my point of view".

Im not going to bully someone or wish the characters died tho. And I think others shouldn't either.

Not to sound pessimistic, but the so-called ''cliffhanger'' seems to be about building up for a love confession rather than secretly trying to add a subversion of a (shounen) trope.

We literally have only 2 chapters left. What can he even do to change this atp? And that interview doesn't sound that great. It reminded me of my AoT fan days back in the day and how disappointed we were by the author's interviews abt that show.

you can interpret it as a build up for a confession -I’m not the author, I have no authority over the work, and my perspective is as valid in terms of canon as yours. But I want to make you another question:

what part of this chapter made you think that?

when reading it all together, the feelings she is hiding during the whole chapter are revealed at the end -she is sad over Himiko’s sacrifice and can’t pretend to be happy with this ending even if everyone else is smiling. And Izuku gets worried about her, noticing there’s something wrong along Tsuyu -they are both her closest friends and perceptive; in the dorms, she tells others Ochako said she’s coming home but doesn’t even read her messages (implying this is weird for her), and when looking for her, using OFA probably to get faster, he sees her holding her stomach and crying on a cliff.

You can see all of this however you want, even if you don’t like what you interpret in the end, but personally I completely understand why Deku would do that for her -I too have gone out of my way for a friend in possible danger- and I can’t see how Hori could make any of them confess and focus the conversation around each other when she’s grieving heavily. “What can he even do to change this at this point” change what? if you mean to twist this cliffhanger, I think it can easily be done -for example, instead of focusing on a romance talk between them for some reason, keep talking about the villains and heroes. Because there’s no footage of their fight Izuku probably doesn’t even know Toga sacrificed herself for Uraraka, so there’s a potential interesting conversation that brings back the whole “I’m kinda weird” theme while confirming they are characters with their own ideals and feelings that can be different while still similar. Also, they just need to have a talk no matter what -whether Horikoshi decides to bring it up to make them a couple or not, a call back to the conversation before the final war is good, they need it. It would be harder to go for a love confession between them in my opinion -how do you even go from feeling devastated and missing what looks like a dead person, to focus on loving another one and wanting to pursue a relationship? Even some shippers who are reading the leaks feel it’s wrong, not even bittersweet, just an insult to the ship and the characters. How do you make Izuku and Ochako a couple in two chapters when the last thing we have is her crying over someone else? It was as simple as also mentioning her feelings for him in this chapter -then we would understand she needs to express those too or she will break. But this just tells me she has to talk about Toga and what she felt about their fight, reconciliation and sacrifice.

It saddens me how many of these yappers (i'm not calling them shippers) want so bad for a confession to happen bc to them, that is just a means to an end so they can finally be done with it.

All they want is for Izuku to get the girl already but they don't give a shit what is happening with them, or if it's a good way to end their characters. They want the girl prop to be a prop as fast as possible so they can validate a hatrated for gay shippers.

yeah, I went to the bnha Reddit and some are really… wrong. Some even don’t understand how she could cry over a murderer, and others directly are talking about her being actually Himiko transformed??? There was someone who was acting like a confession in next chapter would be groundbreaking and what “we” were looking for, but it’s just terrible to follow this up with that. It’s not about it being vanilla, or not my favorite, or underdeveloped -it makes zero sense to add a love confession and, especially, a getting together scene.

And when reading the chapter, it looks like it tried to bait you into thinking it was about that in the beginning -making you wonder “is ochako feeling hurt bc she is still hiding her feelings for izuku?”. Just so around the end, we actually see what her thoughts are about: Himiko and pretending she is happy without her smiling too. Next chapter will focus on Izuku’s side of things I believe by the tagline, or maybe will start like that with him trying to help her.

But anyways, it’s just sad how dudebros are seen as the realistic ones, as the right ones, and feel confident in a confession when the actual narration tells you a different story -many are already saying they “won” and “it’s confirmed”, but really, they don’t have anything more.

A scene between two or more characters can be ship material if you want, or even random pairings that you think are cute together even if they don’t have screen time together or aren’t in the same show even -but this sentiment of it being canon coming from some parts of the fandom? After reading Ochako’s feelings of grief? And expecting a confession next, as if they could just naturally get over it? You don’t have to see it as a togachako scene, but damn, why would this be an “izu///ocha is already canon expect a confession next”? Not as a joke but as if that’s seriously the right and only way to see this chapter??? Wtf?

If that was me I would suspect she could be hiding her physical pain from the wounds or even possibly putting herself in danger, I’m not risking it by “maintaining” my quirk when my friend is in possible emergency.

Girl he transferred it all to Shigaraki, why wouldn’t he use it now? This isn’t a normal situation, they are taking it seriously and I appreciate it -her feelings and wellbeing matter, and she needs to let it out.
