If you make a photocopy of a drawing, you get something that looks pretty much like the drawing.  If you make a photocopy of that photocopy, you get something that still looks mostly like the drawing, but distorted.  Do this iteratively a thousand times and the resulting photocopy will look nothing at all like the original drawing.  What does it look like, then?  Like the inside of a photocopier, in some sense.  Like the process of photocopying itself.

I have found this to be an encouraging metaphor for myth.
