what's so cool about "kevin can fuck himself" is the way it forces you to reframe what are otherwise painted as harmless sitcom antics. it makes you really think about it.
for example, the sarcastic asides typical of a sitcom are actually cruel and abusive when rooted in reality. while you're watching the scene, set up in saturated colors and a laugh track, you have to force yourself not to slip into the banter.
it's a depiction of how abusers manipulate perceptions and get everyone else to go along with it. how it's normalized as "harmless" and laughed away.
it's a really good show.

I just started watching Kevin can f**k himself and it's genuinely??? One of the most well written shows I've watched in a while???? And well directed? The contrast between the sitcom-y shots the moment Kevin enters and the more artistic shots whenever he's not around? Also Allison and Pat are gay for each other I don't care if I'm on episode 4 and they only just started even....being closer I don't care, these bitches are gonna fall IN LOVE I'm calling it now

My controversial hot take is that i prefer the new Avatar the Last Airbender live adaptation over the Percy Jackson TV show. And yes i do have criticism of the avatar live action but i feel like it did better as an adptation & was enjoyable to watch
#avatar the last airbender#percy jackon and the olympians#i did enjoy watching percy jackson#dont get it twisted#i just dont think the avatar live action doesnt deserve all the hate#avatar live action

“i’ll be so lucky to have you” is such a beautiful line. himi knowingly returns to a world that is destined to consume her in the very fires she holds dear, all because they’re also the very doors that’ll bring mahito into existence.
and that’s the enduring essence of miyazaki’s works: life, through all its suffering and misery, is still worth living. through the people we love and the memories we cherish, we search for and find our reasons to live.

the stark contrast between sally's you are not broken. you are singular. you're a miracle. you are my son, to chiron's as a forbidden child of the sea god, you are singular amongst demigods...
whole. singular. alone.
perfect in the eye of his mother, and a tool in the eye of his father. his existence is his mother's world and his father's ruination... unless he can do something about it, but why would he want to do that? poseidon left him alone. to hollow out and fill with godly power and dictated direction when the time came. meanwhile sally was filling percy with love and acceptance. for who he already was and for whoever he would become.

I liked these two episodes because they truly captured Percy's two most important traits:
He absolutely loves his mom
He hates the gods so fucking much

Sally Jackson telling Grover to protect Percy, protect her ONLY SON. Sally Jackson calling Percy singular, because he's HER world, and her reason for living.
Percy Jackson being called singular amongst the demigods due to his father but knowing he's singular because his mother told him

reasons why you should read masters of death by olivie blake
the narration is a perfect mix of dark, humorous, and intelligent
there is a wonderful queer romance, filled with betrayal, secrets, lies, second chances, and heartwarming moments
it has a vibrant cast of characters, each distinct and fascinating, with fleshed out backstories and fun personalities
if you've been dealing with any sort of existential crisis, this book handles the topics of life and its meaning, death, and moving on so tenderly and wonderfully
there's an exciting adventure and a high-stakes mystery that is equal parts intriguing and scary
(this book made me cry, in the best possible way, with its bittersweetness and its gentle way of reminding the reader to appreciate life)

After you select your vote, click "Vote" immediately under the options, and it will refresh the list, indicating your vote has been cast. I voted for L&Co & against N as a streaming platform. (Sadly our actors, director, and production companies aren't up for voting)

no but this is so discouraging for more than just lockwood and co. like, you can have the greatest idea ever seen, but if it doesn’t get you instant money, you HAVE NO CHANCE. and i know i’ve said this before, but this is the Thing i want people to hear: successful creativity should NOT have to rely on money this heavily. it should be the other way around. i know it’s unrealistic to expect no money needed, obviously, i just think it shouldn’t TAKE THIS MUCH TO STICK AROUND!! especially if sticking around depends on the approval of a big red monster (guess who) with RIDICULOUSLY HIGH STANDARDS!!! they don’t care if you put your soul into something, they don’t care if it’s the greatest thing they have by far, if it doesn’t get them richer, it’s out. they’ll chose a barbie doll of a show, a plastic hollow thing, over what you have because that plastic hollow thing got them rich. and it’s not fair. we were set up for failure from the start, just like so many other people, just like people in the future. hell, people with mere IDEAS will be shot down before they begin, and what, can you even imagine what, are we missing out on because of all that ?

I am just so tired of fantastic television getting the axe by streaming corporations. Like, look at these ratings. What more do they want.
