At the start of the year, Bloomsbury announced a new series of Harry Potter information books called Pocket Potters: Little Guides to the Harry Potter Stories. Each book represents a single character from the wizarding world, and we now know the next two characters who will receive their tributes.

Updates on HBO’s “Harry Potter”: Hagrid Revealed, Dursleys Spotted, Voldemort Rumors, and Back-to-Back Filming Begins

Updates on HBO’s “Harry Potter”: Hagrid Revealed, Dursleys Spotted, Voldemort Rumors, and Back-to-Back Filming Begins
Filming for HBO’s highly anticipated Harry Potter reboot is in full swing and things are moving fast. From the first photos of Nick Frost as Hagrid and leaked set footage featuring Harry and Hagrid in London and the Dursleys at the zoo, to an ambitious back-to-back filming schedule for the first two seasons and information on the casting of Voldemort, read on to find out more.
HBO released a teaser image of Frost dressed as Hagrid, and let’s just say, he looks the part.

Meanwhile, some images have already been leaked from set, including shots of Frost alongside Dominic McLaughlin (playing Harry) in what looks to be Diagon Alley scenes filmed on the streets of London.

And the wizarding world’s least favorite family have been spotted too. Set photos have surfaced showing McLaughlin with Amos Kitson (Dudley), Bel Powley (Aunt Petunia), and Daniel Rigby (Uncle Vernon) filming what looks to be the infamous zoo scene.
Photos showing the cast filming the zoo scene.
On top of all these exciting behind-the-scenes peeks, according to Redanian Intelligence, seasons 1 and 2 are being shot back-to-back. Season 1 is expected to wrap in May 2026, with season 2 picking up just two months later in July, and if all goes to plan, that second season will wrap by May 2027.
Previous comments from showrunner Francesca Gardiner and director Mark Mylod teased “eight hours to tell the first book,” which many assumed meant eight episodes, but that’s apparently not the case. Season 1 will reportedly be just six episodes long, though still clocking in at the full eight hours. Future seasons might stretch out to eight episodes as the pace picks up.
Redanian Intelligence also reported that HBO has already chosen its Voldemort but the network is keeping the actor’s identity tightly under wraps, aiming to unveil the surprise when the series premieres in 2027 – a long wait for fans and a lot of time for rumors to be spread and spoilers to be leaked!
So far, HBO’s Harry Potter is looking like a faithful, cinematic retelling with serious talent and a massive production effort behind it. The cast is stepping into iconic roles, the sets are looking spot-on, and we can’t wait to see what’s going to be revealed next.

Bertie Carvel on His Role as Cornelius Fudge in HBO’s “Harry Potter” TV Show
New Post has been published on https://bit.ly/4lpqTLj
Bertie Carvel on His Role as Cornelius Fudge in HBO’s “Harry Potter” TV Show
Award-winning actor Bertie Carvel is stepping into the Ministry of Magic in the upcoming HBO Harry Potter TV series, having been cast as Cornelius Fudge, and he has recently spoken about this upcoming role.
Carvel is best known on stage and screen for his transformations into political figures like Tony Blair (The Crown) and Donald Trump (The 47th). His portrayal of Fudge in the Harry Potter series marks a significant commitment for Carvel, who admitted in an interview that he may have once turned down such a major franchise.
I would have run a million miles from a project like that. I’ve been more interested in variety, in not doing the same thing twice. But I’m a bit older now. I’ve got a bit less wanderlust, I’m happier to stay still.
Bertie Carvel (Credit: Andrew Crowley/Camera Press).
Carvel’s approach to the role is refreshingly open. He revealed that he only recently read the Harry Potter books for the first time, having previously seen “maybe one or two” of the films.
I don’t know how it’s going to fit into my life. I’ve read one script, which I loved, and I’ve read the books. I hadn’t before I got the role. I think I saw one of the films, maybe two. As a boy if I had read these books I would have devoured them.
This late introduction to the wizarding world gives Carvel a unique outsider’s perspective – one he intends to bring into the character of Fudge. “I’m coming at it with a really open mind,” he said, continuing to state that “Whether I come back [after the first series] probably depends on what the fans think. I mean, I’ll be furious if it’s not an amazing part.”
His comments are particularly interesting, given Cornelius Fudge doesn’t actually appear in the book of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Yet Carvel’s comments are suggesting he’s involved from the beginning, raising questions about how the show will handle his inclusion. HBO promised a “faithful adaptation” of the original books, but introducing a character who doesn’t appear until Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets doesn’t seem especially faithful. Could this hint at new scenes, flash-forwards or expanded subplots?
Production on the series begun only yesterday, with HBO giving us our first look at Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter alongside announcing even more casting news.
And now, as Carvel joins one of the most beloved fictional worlds ever created, it’s clear he is ready to make his mark on the wizarding world.

HBO’s “Harry Potter” TV Show Begins Production with First Look at Harry, and New Cast and Crew Announcements
Tumblr media
Hold onto your wands, witches and wizards; it’s finally happening! Today, production officially kicked off on the long-awaited Harry Potter television series from HBO, and we’ve just had our first peek. From more cast announcements to an all-star creative team, the Wizarding World is gearing up for a spectacular return.
We’ve had our first official look at Dominic McLaughlin as the Boy Who Lived, seeing him don the iconic round glasses and Hogwarts robes for the first time, alongside the caption: “First-years, step forward. The HBO Original Harry Potter series is now in production.”
              View this post on Instagram
A post shared by HBO Max (@hbomax)
Fans may be quick to point out the strong resemblance between the new Hogwarts robes and those from the original film series, with costume designer Holly Waddington appearing to be honoring the classic look while subtly updating it for a new era. With familiar details like the House colors on the matching jumper and tie alongside flowing black robes, it indicates that while this is a fresh take on the story, it’s still very much the Hogwarts we know and love.
We also have a new group of cast members joining the series, including: Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, Louise Brealey (Sherlock) as Madam Rolanda Hooch, and Anton Lesser (Game of Thrones) joins as Garrick Ollivander.

A post shared by HBO Max (@hbomax)
These new cast members join a growing group that already includes other Hogwarts students to Hogwarts professors.
HBO has also pulled together an elite team of creative department heads to shape every detail, which is now confirmed as the following: Adriano Goldman (The Crown) joins as Director of Photography, Cate Hall (His Dark Materials) as Hair and Makeup Designer, Paul Herbert (Fantastic Beasts) as Stunt Coordinator, Mark Holt (The Batman) as SFX Supervisor, Mara LePere-Schloop (The Alienist) as Production Designer, Naomi Moore (Chernobyl) as Set Decorator, John Nolan (The Dark Knight) as Creature Effects Design Supervisor, Alexis Wajsbrot (Doctor Strange) as VFX Supervisor, Dom Sidoli (The Sandman) as VFX Producer, and Holly Waddington (Poor Things) as Costume Designer.
With an official premiere year of 2027 on HBO and HBO Max confirmed, it might feel like a lifetime away, but with production now underway at Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, and several key cast members for the first season still yet to be revealed, the countdown to a new era of magic has truly begun.

"Potterversity" Episode 66: "Back to Wizarding Business"
New Post has been published on https://bit.ly/4nUtsH1
"Potterversity" Episode 66: "Back to Wizarding Business"
Tumblr media
Why is there a lack of service businesses in the wizarding world?
Following up on our earlier episode about magical businesses, our technical director, Emma Nicholson, joins us to continue the conversation. Perhaps there aren’t many businesses that provide services, as opposed to goods, to wizards because people with magical skills should be able to easily do household tasks for themselves. Not being able to do so is seen as shameful. Consider the characters who perform manual labor or do maintenance work – house-elves, Squibs like Filch, low-level Ministry employee Reg Cattermole.
What about entertainers, such as magical athletes and musicians? Is that kind of physical work different? Previous guest David Martin also wrote in wondering about what is considered a service business. Gringotts? The Knight Bus? St. Mungo’s Hospital? Niche specialized skills or blended businesses that provide a product as well as a service, like newspapers or wedding marquee rentals, seem to be different than straightforward services. What does this say about the significance of tangible objects wizards can own?
Why don’t wizards open businesses to provide services to Muggles, secretly using magic to easily make or fix things? Why is any wizard poor when there’s a whole untapped market of Muggles who would have more need of their skills? The International Statute of Secrecy and resulting segregation between wizards and Muggles may stop anyone from crossing that line. Magic leaves a trace, and magical repairs may not always work exactly as intended or may be suspiciously effective. The risks may just not be worth it to most people.

Jason Isaacs Defends Paapa Essiedu’s Casting as Snape in HBO’s new “Harry Potter” TV Show
New Post has been published on https://bit.ly/40f1MCp
Jason Isaacs Defends Paapa Essiedu’s Casting as Snape in HBO’s new “Harry Potter” TV Show
During an appearance at FanExpo Denver, Jason Isaacs, who portrayed Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, defended the acclaimed British actor Paapa Essiesu, who has been cast as Professor Snape in the HBO Harry Potter TV reboot, and condemned the racist undertones fueling some of the online negativity.
“Paapa Essiedu is one of the best actors I’ve ever seen in my life,” Isaacs said during a panel, “I’ve seen some people online who are being rude about him. What they’re being is racist.”
Jason Isaacs at FanExpo (Credit: Fan Expo/ Brent Andeck)
Isaacs was quick to point out that talent speaks for itself and believes the doubters will soon be silenced.
All the cast of the new Harry Potter TV series are amazing. They will be swallowing their tongues, hopefully — you know, their digital tongues — when they see what [Paapa] does on screen.
It’s clear Isaacs has full confidence in the new generation stepping into the Wizarding World. Far from being protective or territorial about the legacy of the films, he’s excited to see the story brought to life in a new format.
The show is being made by the same people who made the films, and they’re just taking the time to make each book into a whole season — and it’s going to be great.
In a lighter moment, Isaacs shared a humorous anecdote about his own connection to the new TV show. His daughter’s university friend works in casting for the new series, and Isaacs jokes that she didn’t let any secrets slip.
She came for dinner, and she wouldn’t f****** tell us anything! Unbelievable, what a waste of university tuition fees.
Isaacs’s comments serve as a reminder of what the Wizarding World is meant to stand for: courage and acceptance. His vocal support for Paapa Essiedu and the rest of the new cast highlights a passing of the torch rooted not just in nostalgia, but in hope for a more inclusive future.

Celebrate Harry's Birthday in a Special Soho Event
Harry Potter’s birthday is a date known by everyone in the wizarding world. This year, the date marks something special for Muggles too, as magic will take over London for a day of celebration.
On July 31, Harry Potter fans in the United Kingdom will be able to join in the party in the center of London’s Soho. The pop-up event includes a bunch of activities to take part in, including face painting and cupcake tasting. There will also be competitions and games throughout the day, with a Guess How Many Hogwarts House Jellybeans Challenge to test your divination skills and giveaways from Lego and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, among others. Prizes can be won for creative costumes, participation, and more throughout the day.
There will also be plenty of other chances to interact with the magic. Photo opportunities, including a special photobooth and a massive statue of Harry built from Lego, will allow guests to take memories away with them. Guests will also be able to fill out a stamp card collection as they explore the pop-up, which can be cashed in for a party favor when completed.
As well as the interactive elements of the pop-up, there will be attractions to take a look at. These will include costumes from the West End’s Cursed Child production and product displays from Bloomsbury, Jazwares, MGA, the Noble Collection, Rubies, Smyths, and Spinmaster, although none of the products will be available to purchase at the celebration.
The pop-up is a timed entry ticket event. Tickets are free and will be released on a first-come, first-served basis on Thursday, July 17, from 11:00 a.m. BST, so make sure you are on time and ready to duel, as the pop-up is expected to sell out quickly.

Review: Epic Universe's Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry Is Thoroughly Fun and Impressively Deep
New Post has been published on https://www.mugglenet.com/2025/06/review-epic-universes-harry-potter-and-the-battle-at-the-ministry-is-thoroughly-fun-and-impressively-deep/
Review: Epic Universe's Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry Is Thoroughly Fun and Impressively Deep
While you can expect a good theme park to deliver thrills, entertainment, and perhaps even an emotional sense of immersion, you don’t necessarily expect it to engage with a story on a particularly profound level. The focus is on aesthetics and atmosphere rather than narrative, and that’s okay. That’s why I was so pleasantly surprised to discover the extent to which Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry at Universal Orlando Resort’s new Epic Universe engages with wizarding politics, especially the complex and sensitive issue of elf rights.
We spent so long soaking in the details of the queue compared to the amount of time on the ride that the former is actually clearer in my mind, which is not to discount my enjoyment of the ride itself. After a dazzling entrance by Métro-Floo into the atrium, where the golden Fountain of Magical Brethren has apparently been rebuilt (still with the wizard in a position of privilege), the story kicks off right away with banners announcing that today is the trial of Dolores Umbridge – a weighty issue of justice for a ride!
  Umbridge trial
Golden wizard statue in the Ministry of Magic
House elf relocation offices
Ministry of Magic Public Notice
Ministry of Magic Time Turner notice
Magic cleaning Ministry
The first indication that elves will matter here is so subtle that most visitors will probably miss it – a plaque on a door just off the atrium labeled “House-elf Relocation Offices.” Hermione’s Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare (SPEW) never got off the ground in the series, and although Dobby’s sacrifice was acknowledged and Kreacher underwent a major change, most elves still seemed uninterested in or actively hostile to freedom, and most wizards seemed unenthusiastic about forcing it upon them. This small detail shows that mere months after Voldemort’s defeat, there are efforts underway to improve conditions for elves – perhaps to find preferable placements for those in the most abusive situations and bring them to places like Hogwarts, where they could work as they please in favorable conditions and slowly be given education, benefits, and an introduction to freedom.
Where this teaser really comes to fruition is in Umbridge’s office, where her former house-elf, Higgledy, has a three-minute monologue that provides much more insight into the current status of elves. Higgledy, wearing a pink bow and shoe signifying her freedom, is excited to see her former mistress face justice, idolizes Hermione for her activism, and refers to Minister Shacklebolt as her friend. Elves still have a long way to go – Higgledly scolds herself much like Dobby for being distracted from work and says that most elves are still content without pay, though she likes the idea of it. But the discourse around elf rights has become mainstream, and it sounds like both wizards and elves are starting to think differently. Progress!
Other highlights include the Auror Office featuring portraits of Frank and Alice Longbottom, Hesphaestus Gore, and Mad-Eye Moody (Tonks would’ve been nice too!); a detailed, moving map of the Ministry; an employee locker room with lockers belonging to Harry, Ron, and Neville; and portraits of past Ministers of Magic, as well as a bust of the first Minister, Ulick Gamp, discussing the impending trial.
  Higgledly
Ministry of Magic map
Full Auror office
Auror training schedule
Auror portraits
Auror lockers
Ministers of Magic
Finally, it’s time for the ride. This is probably one of the most comfortable rides in the park, with leather-upholstered seats and a simple seatbelt across the waist, as opposed to tight bars or overhead restraints. The seating feels stable and enclosed yet roomy, ideal for riders who don’t love the sensation of having their legs dangling or being crammed into a tight space. There are no lockers, as belongings can easily be stowed by riders’ feet and are at low risk of being lost. The ride offers a unique and stimulating experience with a blend of soaring, dropping, and bouncing.
The story of Umbridge trying to steal a Time-Turner feels a little tired – the Ministry’s Time-Turners were supposedly destroyed during the Battle of the Department of Mysteries, and yet Harry Potter and the Cursed Child also relies on the idea of finding one that could travel back further than a few hours. But the Time Room is awesome, and the beasts escaping from the Department of Magical Creatures makes for an epic tie-in with Fantastic Beasts, complete with stunning visuals both animatronic and digital. It’s a thrill to see Imelda Staunton as a deliciously evil Umbridge again, witness Higgledly make her mark as a heroic elf, and hear Harry remind Umbridge about not telling lies.
Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry is a highly enjoyable experience as a ride – but the depth of the queue keeps us thinking about the future of the wizarding world long after we disembark.

Eight Things That Don't Make Sense in "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets"
New Post has been published on https://www.mugglenet.com/2025/06/eight-things-that-dont-make-sense-in-harry-potter-and-the-chamber-of-secrets/
Eight Things That Don't Make Sense in "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets"
Have you ever watched the Harry Potter movies and gotten irritated by some of their plot holes? Surely we’ve all been there. There are certain things in the story that don’t make sense.
We decided to make a little project and find all the illogical things in each part of the series. We’ve already published the first part, and now let’s move on to the Chamber of Secrets.
1. The Dursleys trying to prevent Harry from going to Hogwarts
We understand Harry caused a lot of trouble to his relatives, who simply wanted to live a normal, happy life. Also, their nephew spending as much time at Hogwarts as possible would be much more preferable for the Dursleys. In that case, they wouldn’t put bars on his windows so he couldn’t leave their house. On the contrary, they’d impatiently wait for September 1st instead to get rid of Harry and not see him for the next 10 months. Ultimately, their actions seem a little irrational.
Uncle Vernon is putting bars on Harry’s window.
  2. Knockturn Alley
As we learn in the second part of the story, Knockturn Alley is quite a dangerous place that shouldn’t be visited by normal wizards, let alone kids without adults. These shops should have been situated somewhere else, a secret place for dark wizards only. So why is it situated right in Diagon Alley, full of unsupervised children? It’s like having a weapon or a drug store in the middle of a shopping mall. It simply makes no sense. Why hasn’t the Ministry of Magic done something about this?
Harry gets lost in Knockturn Alley.
  3. Harry and Ron going to Hogwarts using the Ford Anglia
Sure, it was a fun adventure for two friends. But why didn’t they simply wait for the Weasleys to get back from the station so they could find a better solution to their problem? We understand that they were 12-year-old boys, and you can’t expect many wise decisions from them, but still waiting for Ron’s parents in this situation would have been the smartest thing to do.
Harry and Ron fly the Ford Anglia to Hogwarts.
  4. Dumbledore hiring Lockhart
Gilderoy Lockhart was the most incompetent teacher at Hogwarts. Even the Death Eater Barty Crouch Jr. was doing a much better job at teaching. So why on Earth would Dumbledore hire him? There is a theory among fans that since the position of Defense Against the Dark Arts was cursed, people didn’t want to risk their lives and apply for the job, so there was pretty much no other option. Another theory, or a meme, to be more precise, claims that Dumbledore saw Lockhart and thought hiring him would be a hilarious idea.
Lockhart instructs Hogwarts students at the Dueling Club.
  5. Not closing Hogwarts
When the Chamber of Secrets was opened again and Colin Creevey was petrified, the most rational thing to do would be to close Hogwarts because the last time the Chamber was opened, things ended badly. But instead, Dumbledore simply added some restrictions which, let’s be fair, were not helpful at all.
Harry and Filch stand beneath a message that the Chamber of Secrets has been opened.
  6. Hagrid sending Harry and Ron to Aragog
Well, to be fair, this one perfectly made sense, at least to Hagrid, who probably trusted his “pets” much more than he did himself. However, Aragog always told Hagrid he was the only human being he or his offspring would not harm. So, sending Harry and Ron straight to the spider’s lair was reckless, even for Rubeus.
Harry and Ron meet Aragog in the Forbidden Forest.
  7. No one asking Moaning Myrtle about her death
This is probably the biggest plot hole in the whole series. When the Chamber of Secrets was opened the second time, why did no one think of asking Myrtle about how she died? She was a living (well, sort of living) victim of the crime, and her story would have helped to find out what happened 50 years ago. However, it seems like a bunch of 12-year-old kids were smarter and more logical than the adults, and were the only ones who managed to solve the case.
Moaning Myrtle tells the story of how she died in the bathroom she haunts.
  8. Harry and Ron not asking for help from teachers
In Sorcerer’s Stone, Harry and his friends didn’t have much choice but to fight Quirrel on their own because McGonagall didn’t believe their warning. But in this part, their heroism doesn’t make sense. Instead of asking for help from their teachers, they decided to save Ginny themselves, taking the most useless person with them – Gilderoy Lockhart. Why didn’t they go straight to McGonagall, Flitwick, or even Snape? They would have handled the situation much better than Gilderoy.
Harry, Ron, and Lockhart enter the Chamber of Secrets.
Let us know in the comments which scene was the most illogical according to you!

Seven Things That Don't Make Sense in "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban"

Seven Things That Don't Make Sense in "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban"
Every story has plot holes, as throughout time, fans always start asking questions regarding some situations in the story and realize that many things don’t really make sense. The Harry Potter series is no exception, so that’s why we decided to explore all the strange and illogical things in each part of the saga.
We’ve already covered the first two parts, and now let’s move on to The Prisoner of Azkaban. Even though it is the fan-favorite book and movie in the series, it also has some unexplainable moments. Let’s take a look at them, shall we?
1. Harry making magic at home
What’s the most important rule in the wizarding world? Right, no magic outside of Hogwarts. However, Harry, or to be more precise, the director of the movie, decided to ignore that rule and start the movie with this big plot hole. Yes, the scene looks cool, but accountability is far more important than setting a magical atmosphere, right?
Harry learns a new spell while at Privet Drive.
  2. Permission for Hogsmeade
Actually, this would make sense, but only in one case: if students also had to have permissions for other far more dangerous activities as well, like playing Quidditch, joining the Dueling Club, or entering the Triwizard Tournament. Moreover, visiting Hogsmeade is probably the most harmless and safest thing to do. Even simple lessons at Hogwarts can be more hazardous than going to a peaceful village, visiting shops, and cafes.
Harry, Ron, and Hermione visit Hogsmeade.
  3. Dementors guarding Hogwarts
Remember Dumbledore’s speech at the welcoming feast? “Dementors are vicious creatures. They will not distinguish between the one they hunt and the one who gets in their way.” So why were these vicious creatures guarding Hogwarts, full of hundreds of mischievous and playful kids? Any single one of them could have been hurt by these ruthless guards. Dementors in general raise a lot of questions. Why did the Ministry of Magic think that they were the best safekeepers? Couldn’t other wizards guard Azkaban or Hogwarts?
Dementors guard Hogwarts during Harry’s third year.
  4. Students drinking alcohol
As we mentioned before, Hogsmeade is quite a safe place. But there’s one big “but”. Why were students allowed to freely drink Butterbeer or even Firewhisky? Weren’t there other, more appropriate activities for kids and teenagers? Or at least non-alcoholic beverages so that students can have a good time at the Three Broomsticks but not get drunk? Not that there were any cases described of someone being intoxicated, but still, we believe that this doesn’t make sense.
  Hermione drinks Butterbeer
  5. Harry seeing Peter Pettigrew on the map
Those who read the book know that this scene wasn’t in the original. So, the question goes to the director of the movie again. If Harry saw Pettigrew’s name on the Marauder’s Map, it means that Fred and George must have seen it too. In that case, wouldn’t they be curious about this guy named Peter who is constantly hanging out with Ron and even sleeping in his bed? Though we have to admit that this scene was very mysterious and tense in a good way. And fans could have accepted this moment if they had gotten a reasonable explanation as to why Pettigrew suddenly appeared on the map.
Peter Pettigrew’s name appears on the Marauder’s Map.
  6. Time-Turner
And last, but not least, we have reached the most illogical magical artifact: the Time-Turner. There are many questions related to it. First of all, why did the Ministry of Magic think that it was okay to give a time-turner to a 13-year-old girl, even if she’s very smart and diligent? Haven’t they thought that Hermione could have used it wrong, and something bad could have happened to her or anyone else? Second, why did no one use it before or after Prisoner of Azkaban to prevent some horrible things from happening? For instance, the death of Harry’s parents and Cedric, or the return of Voldemort in Goblet of Fire?  Again, there could at least be an explanation that would fix this plot hole. Something about the Time-Turner not being able to prevent the death of human beings, or that it was invented after James and Lily’s deaths. Even in this case, it still raises a lot of questions.
Harry and Hermione go back in time to rescue Sirius and Buckbeak.
Did you pick up on these strange moments in Prisoner of Azkaban the first time you read the book or watched the film? Let us know in the comments below!

Gary Oldman Awarded a Knighthood and Reveals His Hogwarts House
Tumblr media
Gary Oldman, the actor known to Harry Potter fans as Sirius Black, has officially been knighted, and in a recent podcast revealed what he believes his Hogwarts House to be.
The knighthood honor came as part of King Charles III’s annual Birthday Honours list, announced on June 14. Oldman, now 67, was recognized for his decades-long contribution to drama, which spans stage, film, and television.
Though his character was a Gryffindor, Oldman has jokingly admitted that he identifies more with another Hogwarts house. During a lighthearted appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Oldman was asked which house he might belong to.
Host Josh Horowitz asked if he had ever taken the online sorting quiz, to which Oldman responded “If I ever what?”, before laughing as Horowitz listed the Hogwarts Houses and their traits.

When told the characteristics of Hufflepuff; loyalty, patience, and dedication, he agreed that those traits likely suited him best, before joking about mispronouncing the name of the house.
Outside the wizarding world, Oldman’s acting resume includes critically acclaimed performances in films such as Dracula, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, and The Dark Knight trilogy. He won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his role as Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour, and has more recently starred in the Apple TV+ spy series Slow Horses.
Oldman began his career on stage, including work with the Royal Shakespeare Company, and has long been regarded as one of the most versatile actors of his generation. His knighthood is not only a personal milestone but also a recognition of his impact on British cinema and theatre.
Oldman joins a whole host of Potter actors who have also received knighthoods and damehoods, including Dame Imelda Staunton (Professor Umbridge), Dame Emma Thompson (Professor Trelawney), the late Sir John Hurt (Garrick Ollivander), Dame Julie Walters (Mrs. Weasley), Sir Kenneth Branagh (Gilderoy Lockhart), the late Dame Maggie Smith (Professor McGonagall), and the late Sir Michael Gambon (Albus Dumbledore).
While many on this year’s Honours list were recognized for public service, Oldman’s award stands out as a celebration of cultural influence, highlighting his accomplishments in film and theatre.

Five Things The “Harry Potter” Reboot Can Fix
New Post has been published on https://bit.ly/3ZZ5foH
Five Things The “Harry Potter” Reboot Can Fix
The eight Harry Potter films were fantastic adaptations of the beloved books. However, there were many things that weren’t entirely faithful to the books. The upcoming Harry Potter TV show will have a longer time to explore the world and its details, and we’re hoping that means they’ll include these important elements that the reboot can finally fix.
  1. Include More Subplots
  Source
Although the main plot points were included, several had to be cut for time. A TV series format gives the reboot the opportunity to dive into side stories like S.P.E.W. and the full tragedy of Voldemort’s past. Dumbledore’s complicated history with Grindelwald and his own ambitions could also be explored in far greater depth, giving audiences a richer and more nuanced view of the wizarding world.
  2. Better Character Development
  Source
Several characters, such as Ginny, Tonks, and Lupin, deserved more screen time and a more accurate portrayal of their book counterpart. The reboot is an opportunity for Ginny to be the fierce, funny, and feisty character she really is instead of just Harry’s love interest or Ron’s sister. The same goes for characters like Tonks and Lupin, whose relationship and struggles were glossed over in the movies but could be explored fully in a longer series.
  3. Consistent Wizardry
  Source
In the books, non-verbal spells were portrayed as a challenging skill, one that only advanced witches and wizards could master after years of training. Yet later in the film series, many characters, even students, were casting spells wordlessly with ease. It broke some of the internal logic of the magical world. A consistent portrayal of magical rules and skills would help maintain the sense of wonder—and difficulty—that magic should have.
  4. Include Cut Characters
Several fan-favorite characters were left out of the films completely, including Winky the house-elf, Charlie Weasley, and Peeves the poltregiest. These characters added humor, lore, and important context to the story. Including them in the reboot would not only please fans of the books, but also make the Wizarding World feel fuller and more alive.
  5. Showcase More of the Wizarding World
We spent most of the films at Hogwarts, but the books gave glimpses of a much larger magical world. Places like St. Mungo’s Hospital, the Department of Mysteries, and wizarding communities outside of Britain barely got any screen time. The reboot could finally dive into these fascinating corners of the Wizarding World, offering fans a much broader and deeper experience than ever before.
What do you think of our list? What are you looking forward to seeing the most? Let us know in the comments.

"Potterversity" Episode 65: "'Potter' & 'Trek' Part 2 - The Reality Inside Your Head"

"Potterversity" Episode 65: "'Potter' & 'Trek' Part 2 - The Reality Inside Your Head"
Tumblr media
We’re going out to the farthest reaches of space and into the deepest recesses of the mind for another look at Harry Potter and Star Trek.
Potterversity regular Louise Freeman, a retired psychology professor and licensed behavioral analyst who previously joined us for two episodes on memory in Harry Potter, contacted us after our Star Trek episode to share another connection that occurred to her. She asks us to consider the famous Dumbledore quotation “Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?” (DH 723) in the context of implanted memories in Star Trek.
We focus on Captain Picard’s life in an extinct civilization on the Next Generation episode “The Inner Light” and Chief O’Brien’s prison sentence on Deep Space Nine‘s “Hard Time.” Both experiences take place only in the characters’ minds within a few minutes yet feel like years to Picard and O’Brien. Technically, Picard never left the bridge of the Enterprise and O’Brien never served time in jail – it happened inside their heads but felt real to them and had lasting effects.
We also discuss Captain Pike’s time on Talos IV on The Original Series, where aliens can create convincing illusions either to trap people or to give them a better quality of life, which is particularly appealing for Pike after he becomes severely disabled. Nog’s time in a Las Vegas nightclub in a holosuite following a traumatic injury on Deep Space Nine‘s “It’s Only a Paper Moon” leads us to consider Potter‘s ghosts and another Dumbledore quote: “It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live” (SS 214). These “unreal” experiences can have positive or negative consequences and demonstrate the power of escapism not only within these series but for audiences who feel immersed in them.
Can you think of any other connections between Harry Potter and Star Trek? We’d love to hear from you! Send us an email at [email protected], and connect with us on Facebook, Instagram, and Bluesky.

"A Very Potter Musical" Actor Darren Criss Wins Tony Award for "Maybe Happy Ending"
New Post has been published on https://bit.ly/4dSZy17
"A Very Potter Musical" Actor Darren Criss Wins Tony Award for "Maybe Happy Ending"
Tumblr media
Daniel Radcliffe isn’t the only actor who played Harry Potter to win a Tony Award. Following Radcliffe’s victory in the Best Featured Actor in a Musical category for his role in Merrily We Roll Along last year, Darren Criss – known to Harry Potter fans for his star turn as Harry Potter in StarKid’s A Very Potter Musical and its sequels – has won the Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Musical for his role as the robot Oliver in Maybe Happy Ending.
Criss is no stranger to Broadway, awards, or taking after Daniel Radcliffe. Following his role in A Very Potter Musical, for which he also wrote the songs, he starred on television in Glee and The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, the latter of which earned him Emmy and Golden Globe Awards in 2018 and 2019, respectively. On Broadway, he once again followed in Daniel Radcliffe’s footsteps, this time playing J. Pierrepont Finch in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. He went on to star in Hedwig and the Angry Inch and American Buffalo as well as in Little Shop of Horrors off-Broadway.
This was Criss’s first Tony nomination. He received widespread critical praise for his performance as Oliver, an outdated Helperbot obsessed with jazz music who falls in love with a newer model named Claire. Criss also co-hosted the earlier part of the ceremony and had the opportunity to present awards to his collaborators. Maybe Happy Ending was nominated for 10 Tony Awards in total and also won for book, score, scenic design, direction, and the top prize of the night, Best Musical.
Among the presenters was Tom Felton, who last week was announced to be making his Broadway debut in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, returning to his role of Draco Malfoy for the first time since the Harry Potter films. Dame Maggie Smith (Minerva McGonagall), who won a Tony Award in 1990 and died in 2024, was featured in the In Memoriam part of the ceremony.
Congratulations to Criss on his totally awesome victory and all of the nominees and winners.
