I need a story of Harry fucking off from the Dursely’s early, maybe Sirius gets custody, maybe it’s the Weasleys, or Remus, or whoever, or maybe they just decide to let him stay at Hogwarts the whole time
Just, however it happens, Harry doesn’t go back to the Dursely’s one summer while still underage, and it’s no big deal, right? Harry doesn’t want to be there, they don’t want him there, everything’s fine
Except that at least someone notices that Harry doesn’t come back, and yeah the other residents at Surrey don’t normally give a single fuck about that kid, they’ll turn a blind eye to pretty much anything happening to him, but a kid just disappearing? That’s too much, even for them
And once one person notices, well, there’s always been gossips in the neighborhood, soon everyone’s noticed it
I want it to escalate to a full blown investigation, they find the cupboard, they find that he’s not enrolled at the school they told everyone he went to, they find the dried blood (whether or not you believe Vernon and Petunia were physically abusive, Dudley canonically was physical with him, so there’d be blood), they find that the only doctors appointment they ever took him to was to get glasses once, etc., there’s arrests, and a legal battle, and the press, etc.
And none of them have any way to contact Harry (cause it can’t just be any owl, right? it has to be a magically trained owl?) to prove that they didn’t just like. murder him. and hide his body somewhere. or something like that.
So now Harry Potter’s famous in the muggle world and he has no idea about it

I’m not sure what on earth has happened to the literacy standards of the Potter fandom in the last 15 years, because I distinctly remember the universally horrified reactions to the Snape’s Worst Memory chapter when book 5 first came out. Teenage James and Sirius were written as borderline sociopathic in their capacity for cruelty, and everyone back then instantly understood what JKR meant to convey. Somewhere along the line the perception of that dynamic has mutated into a ‘equal rivalry’ or ‘James standing up to a racist’. She couldn’t have made it any clearer with Harry’s anger when Sirius and Remus are feebly justifying themselves. It’s not a coincidental that she chose to place this incident *after* the werewolf prank (there had been a lot of speculation before book 7 came out that it was the werewolf incident that made James get his act together…but no), described them as predator and prey, and put Draco’s words in James’s mouth. I’m baffled as to why so many people don’t get it now. If anything it reads even worse in 2024, because what James did is now classified as sexual assault in the UK.
Look, this girl is reading the books for the first time on TikTok and got that part and she was devastated at finding out about the bullying.
And the comments are full of "omg noooo read 'All The Young Dudes'.
Tumblr media
The truth is, no one likes being challenged anymore. They can't reconcile the idea that James did bad things but was also a great friend so they write cowardly fanfiction that pretends that never happened. And they know the truth, it's why they all to try retroactively cancel out the bullying because of what they know happened in Snape's life 20 years later.
They know it's bad.
They just can't handle it. Because it makes them THINK and be forced to come up with their own conclusions rather than it be spoon fed.
Like my gawd, Harry thought of DUDLEY DURSELY. HIS FIRST BULLY! NOT DRACO! DUDLEY!

Ginny Meets the Dursleys
I love the idea of Ginny interacting in the muggle world but also being fiercely protective of Harry.
here’s my short take on how an initial interaction with the Durselys could have gone. —————————————————————
Ginny goes with Harry to greet the Dursleys when they leave hiding and get back to Privet Drive. He wants to tell them the war is over. Ginny tries to just be there for Harry but then she sees the cupboard door under the stairs. She sees the latch and realizes they must have locked him in.
Vernon yells at Harry and starts saying they never want to see him again and he has done enough to ruin their lives.
Ginny loses it.
She calls him a monster and coward with some extremely explicit language. She pulls out her wand and he jumps back. She glares and says he should be afraid and if he ever so much as looks at Harry wrong again she’ll turn him into a slug for the rest of his miserable life. She storms outside to wait for Harry.
Vernon runs to their bedroom and Petunia follows leaving a stunned Harry and Dudley together.
Harry says “she won’t really turn him into a slug” though while he says it he’s not completely convinced.
Dudley nods slowly and just asks “so …that’s your girl?”
He nods and can’t help but smile.
“She’s hot … bit intense though”
Harry smirks “Yeah she is, she’s amazing”
When Harry goes outside Ginny pulls him into a tight hug and says that he never has to come back again. Harry laughs “I don’t know, I kind of want to see Vernon piss himself every time he sees you. I love you Gin.”
She grabs his hand, kisses his scar on the back of it. All she wants to make every bit of the pain he has suffered a little better.
She squeezes him tight to apparate and whispered to him “let’s go home”.
—————————————————————
if you have any post DH Ginny and the Dursley fics you like please post in the comments. one of my favorite fanfics in this vein is Aunt Marge’s even bigger mistake by writer FloreatCastellum

what do you think dumbledore’s letter to the durselys said? i always thought it was something threatening, especially considering the “remember my last” letter
I agree with you, from Petunia's reaction to the "remember my last" letter it very much seems like Dumbledore's first letter was a threat:
Aunt Petunia looked as though she might faint. She sank into the chair beside Dudley, her face in her hands. The remains of the envelope smoldered into ash in the silence. “What is this?” Uncle Vernon said hoarsely. “What — I don’t — Petunia?” Aunt Petunia said nothing. Dudley was staring stupidly at his mother, his mouth hanging open. The silence spiraled horribly. Harry was watching his aunt, utterly bewildered, his head throbbing fit to burst. “Petunia, dear?” said Uncle Vernon timidly. “P-Petunia?” She raised her head. She was still trembling. She swallowed. “The boy — the boy will have to stay, Vernon,” she said weakly.
(OotP, 40)
She seems petrified from fear. I think he made a threat of what would happen if Harry left their house before his 17th birthday. What exactly the threat was, I can't be certain, but for her to react like this it must be bad (or at least something Petunia thinks is bad).
Like, I'm thinking it's not something simple, that would cause discomfort, the threat must have been something more pressing. But, knowing Dumbledore, it wasn't a straightforward threat. It was the implication of horrifying death and torture to Petunia and her family if Harry left, but without actually saying the words. Just implying them. So she'd know, but he could always say he meant something else entirely.
I don't even know what he could say that will fit this criteria, but it's the sort of thing that's up Dumbledore's alley. Benign threat, I think that's what I'd call what he probably wrote there.
I doubt there was much in the way of explaining anything, like: "there will be no harm as long as Harry remains in your home,"
Which could refer to the blood protection on Harry (something I should write about eventually), but Petunia would more likely read as a threat to her own and her family's safety. That's like, the idea of the kind of threat and explanation he'd make.
Also, a non-specific threat can be way worse than a specific one. It leaves the threat up to your imagination, so you imagine the worst thing you can. A specific threat, well, it tells you exactly what will happen, and it might not be as bad as the person writing the threat thinks.
Things I think were in the letter, not necessarily in this order:
"Good evening, Mrs. Dursley" — I assume the letter was polite.
"It is most grave that I must inform you your sister, Lily, and her husband have been killed at the hands of a dark wizard"
"Before you is their son, Harry Potter, which I request you treat as your own" — he mentions something along these lines in HBP.
"I have left magic to ensure no harm will come as long as Harry is in your home until he reaches majority" — I don't think he explained anything further about the blood protections. Or who would come to harm.
"He will be expected to join Hogwarts when the time comes"
It was a very succinct letter that did everything Dumbledore needed it to with the minimal amount of words. That's what I'm thinking at least.

Sad headcanon:
When on the way to Hogwarts once what if Harry told the Weasleys everything about the Durselys. How they’d starved him, neglected him etc.
While Fred, George, Percy listen on in horror, they demand why Ron hasn’t told them anything to which Ron replies he didn’t see anything wrong with it.
Reusing old smelly clothes instead of buying new ones? That’s all Ron practically owns.
Dudley bullying Harry? Not worse than some of the pranks the twins have pulled on him. He just assumed that was a sibling thing.
Having a small cupboard for a living area and a family that forgot about him? Ron practically wrote the book on that. He’s slept in places smaller than that on several occasions when others came to visit.
That’s why he didn’t press much when Harry said his uncle wouldn’t care of everything he’s achieved at Hogwarts or how many times he’s risked his life.
Because sometimes, Ron cant help but feel the same too.

So I’m watching a trailer for a new film coming to Netflix The Pale Blue Eye with Christian Bale and Gillian Anderson.
It’s a period film about some dark and twisted murders happening at a military academy. Where this complex veteran detective has been called to investigate. Edgar Allan Poe is there as well as a cadet.
I keep thinking this looks really familiar and then it hit me, it’s based on a book by the same name that I read years ago. That I both liked and didn’t like at the same time. If that makes sense at all.
I do wonder if they are gonna keep the story similar and keep the same ending of the book or change things up like Hollywood usually does.
Either way I will be watching because they have Harry Melling playing Edgar Allan Poe. That’s right Dudley Dursely will be playing a young Edgar Allan Poe. I mean I want to watch it for that alone and to see what he does with the role. He does look like Poe a bit and I know he can act, so excited for that part the most. Also I remember Poe was a fun character in the book to read, so he should be fun to watch in the movie.

I cannot, this has to be a joke. I am so tired of TikTok and their takes. No one is torturing Dudley and his family. No is there pointing a wand at them and saying the Cruciatus Curse at them. What happens to them is the consequence of their own actions.
“So when he’s 11 years old his family uproots their life and goes on the run,”
I’ll agree with you, yes it’s stressful but no one was out to get the family. They (Hogwarts) just wanted Harry to come to Hogwarts, and they know (somehow) that Harry didn’t see his letter so they kept sending them. None of that would have happened if the Dursleys just let Harry see the damn letter, like what did they think would have happened? Mind you Petunia knows this process so she easily could have saved them the trouble. Also they wouldn’t have had to go on the run if Dudley hadn’t told on Harry. That’s the consequence of their own actions. Not the wizards. And certainly not Harry. It was Harry’s letter, he had the right to read it.
Let's look at all the stuff Dudley had done to Harry by the third chapter of the book:
“Dudley’s favorite punching bag was Harry,” yes Harry was fast but clearly there were enough times that Dudley punched him for Harry to be considered his “favorite punching bad” also Harry, a 11 year old, is one doing the cooking while Petunia and Vernon, perfectly capable adults, are right there.
Dudley starts crying because Harry has to go to the zoo with him. I have to share my birthday with my whole family (3 other people), he can get over having to take his cousin to the zoo with him.
“Dudley’s gang had been chasing him as usual when, as much to Harry’s surprise as anyone else’s, there he was sitting on the chimney.” accidental magic (in Harry’s case) is triggered by emotion, so they had scared Harry so bad that he apparated, APPARATED! Something that is supposed to be hard, especially for someone younger than eleven. And Harry must have been really scared to do that before the age of eleven or just that powerful. And Harry got punished for it too.
Dudley and his gang is are knowing to target Harry so much that Harry labels it “Harry Hunting”
The snake scene, the snake did nothing to the family, it snapped at them and went away. And Dudley wasn’t trapped in the cage either.
I am sure I didn’t mention all the things Dudley did to Harry before the age of eleven, but some of those things are scattered throughout the books. But this all for mentioned in like the first three chapters, that's a lot considering one of those chapters takes place when Harry is one years old. I do remember one where Marge’s dog chased Harry up a tree while they all laughed. Marge didn’t call off the dog until midnight, MIDNIGHT! So Harry was alone, scared, stuck on a tree for hours. As someone who is scared of dogs, I can't imagine how scary that must have been for him. I'm surprised he didn’t have a fear of dogs.
Hagrid giving Dudley the pig tail was wrong. I'll admit that and he didn’t deserve that, Vernon did, especially since he was the one who insulted Dumbledore which angered Hagrid, and I also don’t like Hagrid but that’s a whole different conversation.
“The year after that was less stressful, but not no stress right? There’s still stuff floating around, his dad’s really angry, and then gets pulled out of a second story window.”
his dad’s angry sure, I don’t recall Vernon ever yelling at Dudley, not even once, if you do, please mention it. As for your second point, he wouldn’t get pulled out of a second store window if they just let Harry respond to Ron’s letters or if they didn’t put any bars in the window. Ron knows how the Dursely’s treat Harry, so he’s obviously concerned when Harry doesn’t respond to him. I would be too if my friend with abusive guardians didn’t respond to me for days. So he goes and rescues Harry, it wouldn't be necessary if they just let Harry respond or even let go to the Weasley’s. So again consequences of their own actions. Not the wizards or Harry’s fault or the good guys’ but theirs. Not to mention they were starving Harry, and he still shared the food with Hedwig.
“And then the year after his aunt inflates, like I know it’s supposed to be funny because she’s fat but again we’re putting ourselves in Dudleys shoes and he doesn’t understand magic or its impact on the human body. Harry loses his temper and she literally blows up.''
Now why does Harry get angry? I'm sure it's not unreasonable. Oh right, because Marge calls his mom (who died trying to save him from the evil wizard) a bitch and his dad (someone who also died trying to save him) an alcoholic, which is just made up by the Dursely’s. Now if she didn’t say that then Harry wouldn’t have gotten rightfully angry, and the anger wouldn’t have triggered his accidental magic, which he should be in control of by now. So clearly the words affected him a lot. They wouldn’t have if Marge didn’t open her mouth to talk shit about a child's dead parents. And it didn’t say that Dudley was watching TV so I’m assuming he was listening to the conversation. That’s the consequence of her own action, not Harry’s fault or the wizards fault, or the good guys.
“It doesn’t get better for him, thereafter, that he eats a piece of candy, that keep in mind Fred and George intentionally left for this to happen and then just peaced out. He eats a piece of candy and his tongue swells up to 3ft long.”
First let me get this out of the way that Fred and Geroge are kind of bullies, their pranks sometimes do harm to people. Now why do Fred and George leave that piece of candy? Because they have heard of all the terrible shit he has done to Harry, and they’ve seen first hand how badly the Dursleys treat Harry (second year, bars on the window). And they of course, like any friends, want to get revenge for Harry. And they also get in trouble with Arthur and later Molly. They faced the consequences of their actions and so did Dudley.
Then the dementor thing happens. Which wasn’t anyone’s fault but Umbridge since she sent them and Dudley just happened to be with Harry. But it was important that he was because that’s the start of his so-called redemption arc. Dudley is a bully and no bully just wakes up one day and realizes that “oh shit what I did and how I treated them was wrong.” no they need a wake up call and for Dudley that wake up call was the dementor.
“We’re 5 for 5 every year,”
no we are not. We’re not even close, what about those eleven years before Hogwarts? Those absolute hellish years? He hated them so much that Harry considers Hogwarts, where he’s in constant danger and where he eventually dies, his home? What about those years? But that’s in the past so they don’t matter right?
Dudley hasn’t even been through a quarter of what Harry has (and half that trauma was due to Dudley and his family) and there nothing the Dursleys can say or do will ever make up for years of trauma and abuse. Their past actions finally caught up to them. And Harry is so traumatized from them that when Mcgonagall asks for Wood, he thinks that she’s going to beat him with a wooden stick. For saving Neville’s, who was being bullied by Malfoy, rememberal. If Harry can tell that bullying is wrong then so can Dudley. He should be able to tell that what his parents are doing to Harry is wrong. And if he wants his parents' approval so badly then he can at least be nice to Harry at school, but he doesn’t, instead he gets his friends to join in too. And makes his social life hell. I remember something about Harry having to dumb himself down so he doesn’t do better at school than Dudley and get him trouble. If he wasn’t a wizard, this could’ve possibly ruined his future. And he doesn’t stop after the first year of Harry being back. He later makes fun of his parents death and Cedric’s death as well (although he doesn’t know who Cedric is and Harry was taunting him before this). All the stuff that you mention is nothing but just a couple of bad days in his otherwise happy life.
And I’m not even going to talk about him going into hiding part because I have nothing to say.
Let's also remember that the target audience for the Harry Potter series is kids Harry’s age, so eleven year old, pre-teens and middle schoolers. People who do not think like high schoolers and adults do. It's detailed enough that kids love it. She (JKR) doesn’t expect them to comment on world building, the money system, or how bad at math JKR is or how much of a bad writer she is or why they didn’t use the truth serum on Sirius. If you did, then congrats to you, I didn’t. I saw magic and a school for wizards and thought it was cool. But if they can tell that what Dudley was doing to Harry was bad then so can he. Dudley should be able to tell that what his parents are doing is wrong. Kids are taught from a young age to not bully and if they see something then say something. And Harry grew up around that, and instead of becoming like his abusers, he became this kind and selfless boy who in the end sacrificed himself to save the world, that didn’t give him much. Sacrificed himself for people who constantly changed their opinions about him. If Harry can be different from Vernon and Petunia than so can Dudley.
Also I do not believe that Dudley got his redemption arc, all he says to Harry is “I don’t think you’re a waste of space,” which congrats to him for finally being able to be a decent human being, I guess. For recognizing that his own cousin isn’t dirt at the bottom of his shoe. It’s not enough for me to consider redeeming him, he’s literally doing the bare minimum. And for a redemption arc you have to go above and beyond. The Dursleys are shit human beings and probably the worst of the humans, I’m surprised Harry didn’t turn them into toads or something the first chance he got.
And Harry, first and foremost is a victim. Harry has done bad things, of course, he’s not perfect, but he’s a victim. He’s a boy that experienced severe trauma from a very young age. He was used and abused by the adults and authority figures around him. So blaming him for things that were out of his control (i.e. Sirius death (that’s a whole other conversation that I can get into if you want me too)) is not okay or fair.
So no, Dudley doesn’t not have the right to blame/hate Harry or wizards. The wizards didn’t do anything to them for the fun of it or anything like that. No, it is them being punished for being shitty people in the past and shitty people to Harry. (They got what they deserved and I’m glad they did, it seems that Vernon is still a shitty person though and idk what happens to Dursley after the battle of Hogwarts) If they had been decent then none of these would have happened. There’s tons of other stuff I could mention that the Dursleys do but I don’t have the time.

Snippet from my Wattpad
Vanishing Glass
Winnie woke up to her cousin running up and down the stairs over the cupboard they made Harry sleep in. "Wake up. You need to start breakfast for Dudley. " Her aunt said, walking in and then out of the room with the pinched look on her face she had every time she interacted with the young red head. She sighed and got ready for the day, pulling her hair into two braids along the sides of her head. As she was coming down, she and Harry worked at the stove, making breakfast for their awful extended family. As they were at the stove finishing the bacon, they heard their cousin complaining about not receiving the same amount of gifts as last year. Harry already saw a fit coming on and grabbed two pieces of the bacon on the table, handing one to the younger girl. She smiled at her twin and ate it quickly before they were forced to go to
Mrs Figgs house with all her cats. It's not that they hated cats. The house just never smelled very good with them all there, the phone rang, and Uncle Vernon answered it. His face turned purple as Mrs Figg explained that she could not take the Potter twins while they took Dudley and his friend to the zoo. The twins shared a look of hopefulness and looked back at their uncle. He said if they didn't cause any trouble, then they could go. The twins sat on the middle seat together while Dudley and his other friend took the window seats. As they got to the zoo, Dudley asked for ice cream the size of his head and decided he didn't like the flavor. Harry asked if he and Winnie could share it. Their aunt gave it to them without looking back. The twins grinned and followed behind the Durselys, making it look like they were not with them as per their request. As they got to the reptile exhibit, the twins leaned against the railing by a large snake. Their cousin and uncle knocked rapidly on the glass, trying to wake up the "sleeping" snake. As they walked away, the twins were looking at the snake and apologizing for their cousin. "I'd get annoyed if people just stared and knocked on glass at me all day too," the little girl grumbled into her twins shoulder, leaning on him. Harry was talking to it, and it started nodding along with what the almost 11 year old boy was saying. Winnie asked if it wanted to  be there or if it knew its parents the sign next to the exhibit saying it was bread in captivity. " we never knew our parents either," Harry told the large snake. As they were talking, Dudley saw that the snake was doing something and shoved his cousins, mostly Sawyer out of the way. She ended up on the ground. Harry huffed, erritated. And soon enough, they saw the glass disappear, and their cousin fell into the exhibit, and the glass reappered as the snake left but not without saying thank you to the twins. The twins were smiling at each other but soon stopped as their uncle was glaring at them with an almost purple face and pinched eye brows. Soon, they got Dudley out of the exhibit, and they went back home. As soon as they got to the front door, the large man grabbed the twins by their hair and asked them in a tight voice, trying to pretend to be calm, "we don't know " one started "one minute it was there and the next it was gone" finished the other "it was like magic" they said in unison.

Review: Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone
Tumblr media
Synopsis:
Harry Potter's life is miserable. His parents are dead and he's stuck with his heartless relatives, who force him to live in a tiny closet under the stairs. But his fortune changes when he receives a letter that tells him the truth about himself: he's a wizard. A mysterious visitor rescues him from his relatives and takes him to his new home, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
After a lifetime of bottling up his magical powers, Harry finally feels like a normal kid. But even within the Wizarding community, he is special. He is the boy who lived: the only person to have ever survived a killing curse inflicted by the evil Lord Voldemort, who launched a brutal takeover of the Wizarding world, only to vanish after failing to kill Harry.
Though Harry's first year at Hogwarts is the best of his life, not everything is perfect. There is a dangerous secret object hidden within the castle walls, and Harry believes it's his responsibility to prevent it from falling into evil hands. But doing so will bring him into contact with forces more terrifying than he ever could have imagined.
Full of sympathetic characters, wildly imaginative situations, and countless exciting details, the first installment in the series assembles an unforgettable magical world and sets the stage for many high-stakes adventures to come.
Plot:
The Dursley family was as normal as a family could be. With their spoiled son Dudley, they were proud to be a normal family. Yet when little Harry Potter was left on their doorstep with a note, their lives changed drastically.  As Mrs. Dursely was the sister to Lily Potter, who was killed by Voldemort (nicknamed You-Know-Who) along with her husband James, leaving Harry with only one living relative - the Dursleys. When Voldemort tried to kill Harry he failed, and disappeared afterwards. Ten years later, Harry, lived under the staircase in a closet in a room, knowing his parents died in a car crash, and that's how he got the lightning shaped scar on his forehead. After a strange account at the zoo, where Harry supposedly made the glass cage disappear and talked to a snake, letters started to arrive to Harry (no one ever wrote him a letter before). Where his uncle and aunt were determined to keep the letter from him, they even spent the night in a rustic cabin to hide from the letters. A large man showed up with a 11th birthday cake for Harry and said his famous line: “Harry – yer a wizard” (42). In which Harry, famously replies “I’m a what?” (42). The man, Hagrid, was the gamekeeper at Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry, a school where Harry's parents met, and he was expected to attend. Following this magical journey as Harry leaves his under the stair cabinet, to Hogwarts where he makes friends, plays Quidditch, learns about his family, and discovers magic.
Thoughts:
This story is one for the history books, as it is the first in the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. So, everyone knows this series is amazing, so why for someone that has only seen the movies, pick up this book? Well first the basics it is easy: straight forward storyline, captivating writing, with only seventeen chapters (223 pages) this book can fly through your hands; an easy one day read.  With no heavy topics, the book can be read by everyone of all ages. Unlike the other books in this series, Rowling wrote this one kind of slow, with everything taking forever as Harry, like every other Muggle reading this story, has no idea about anything. For a multi-billion-dollar product, books that each have been made into a movie, several Disney-like theme parks, why not join Harry on this magical ride, and jump on the bandwagon with the first book in this magical fantasy series.

Look, people need to have more empathy for the Dursleys. Their interactions with wizardkind have not been exactly pleasant in the books. Here are the negative cases off the top of my head:
Threatened by Dumbledore to take Harry in. Dumbles not even having the decency to tell them in person.
Petunia feels lesser than her witch sister
Hagrid attacks Dudley with an illegal wand, traumatizing Dudley for life
Hagrid breaking and entering their hideout and basically kidnapping Harry
Harry's accidental magic which they have no defence against
Their family is in danger from an evil maniac due to being forced to take in Harry
The Weasley incident
Harry threatens them with magic
Dursleys have to leave their home because of their association with Harry
We see the Dursleys are open to wizards who don't terrorize them since they like Shacklebolt a lot and ask that he guards them (he was guarding the prime minister unfortunately for them). Shacklebolt dresses properly like a muggle and the Durselys see him as someone trustworthy and safe.
It's ironic how the Dursleys would likely see the bigoted Malfoys as decent folk compared to the progressive Weasleys. Arthur is like that white liberal who shouts how not racist they are while also claiming black people are too dumb to have voter id so having voter id as a voting requirement is racist. The Weasley clan overall disgust me so much.
It’s pretty rich that Mr. Weasley is angry at Fred for giving Dudley a Ton-Tongue Toffee
“It isn’t funny!” Mr. Weasley shouted. “This sort of behavior seriously undermines wizard Muggle relations! I spend half my life campaigning against the mistreatment of muggles and my own sons-“
After
not telling the Dursleys he was going to be arriving by Floo
scaring them half to death
blowing apart their living room
not explaining anything before destroying their property when they are clearly at a huge information deficit and terrified
He also treats them, their lives and possessions like they’re museum exhibits to be gawked at. He treats them like they are a freak show. (Yeah, that word choice was deliberate)
Arthur Weasley didn’t treat the Dursleys like they were human beings who should be afforded the same amount of forewarning, knowledge, or simple damn courtesy that wizards receive- so why would his sons?
