LMAO…I was watching FMA and Ling asked Greed to switch places with him and my mind immediately went to this scene from Hannah Montana and I was possessed to draw it. So. Greedling.

Two very complex and interesting characters with an intriguing relationship. I think the first step to cracking this open is breaking them down as individuals, so let’s start with Ling.

From our initial experience with Ling, it’s kind of natural to draw the conclusion that he’s an extravagant goof-off. And that’s not entirely incorrect. But the more we learn about him, the more we realize that he plays that up to mask an extremely clever and, dare I say, conniving personality. He acts as if he’s just bouncing around, hoping to reach his goal by pure chance. The truth is, however, that he’s always got a plan—or he’s always coming up with a plan without letting on. And this is really brought into light when Greed comes into the picture.

Greed’s also fun to analyze. As a homunculus and one of the seven deadly sins, it seems pretty obvious that he’s a bad guy—and again, that’s not an incorrect conclusion to draw, but it’s not a complete assessment. Because while he is one of the bad guys, his avariciousness, his very nature, makes it difficult for him to submit to the authority of Father. He wants to own everything—not be owned—which turns him into a bit of a freelancer at times.
