out of all the insane things that happened on Hannibal I think that most insane thing was that after all the time and effort and great lengths Hannibal went to so that he wouldn’t be caught, the mere prospect of never seeing Will again was enough to make him not only confess to his crimes but willingly enter federal custody just on the off chance that Will should decide to visit him. you know… just in case.

If you think about "hunting styles" when it comes to Will and Hannibal, there are some notable differences. Hannibal hunts like a predator. Sits in the tall grass, observes for a long while and one day he decides to attack.

Will on the other hand, hunts the same way he fishes. He never attacks. He always lures people right into his arms. He lured Hannibal. He lured Freddie into his shed to make her part of the plan. He lured Chilton into getting himself fried. He lured Chiyoh into killing the prisoner.

This is definitely something to explore in the post twotl fics. Hannibal and Will learning about their differences when it comes to killing.

like of course Will Loves Hannibal, but hes surprised how much fondness he feels when a person who tried to murder him smiles back at him. It's the same surprise he gets killing. He knows they're not the correct feelings but he feels them anyway.

Hannibal knows he Loves Will but he still stops in his tracks with the realisation that he would do virtually anything if Will demanded it from him. Even after the heartache and betrayal, Hannibal feels the same facination and need to get close that he felt back when he first met Will. It both complexes and soothes him.

Like, the crux of House and Wilson’s relationship for Wilson is that Wilson is somewhat preforming kindness and empathy, and around House he doesn’t have to. He can be fucked up and a little weird, and play increasingly destructive pranks. He can fight with house, and punch him in the face and ask him to dinner a second later and he doesn’t have to preform normality because there is genuinely nothing he can do to ruin this friendship.

And the crux of House and Wilson’s relationship for House is that Wilson see past House’s bs and sees the sliver kindness in House’s heart, the one house keeps hidden away deep under layers of sarcasm and insults. It’s not all the time, as house still gets defensive when Wilson says something that hits a “sore spot”, but House is still kinder with Wilson than he is with anyone else, he shares his fears with Wilson, and makes sacrifices to make him happy. He doesn’t have to preform his “asshole persona” because Wilson’s the only safe person to be venerable with.

This is why they need each other, because they have to preform with everyone else, and they always end up back together because we all need someone we can be authentic with, and it’s why they’re so lonely without each other.

the difference between Will's love and Hannibal's, for me, it's that both are painful and aching but Hannibal is "let me smell your hair, your scent is so precious to me, everything about you is so precious to me, I could stare at you for my entire life and never stop being awed", and Will is "why can't I crawl into you when you hold me? maybe if you hold tight enough I could break the physical barriers and get inside your body". and I think it's beautiful. And psychotic.
