SOMI is K I L L I N it!

This girl is finally getting the exposure she deserves! The flow of her entire album is so good, and I think we have her producers to thank for that.  The Black Label has a good formula for SOMI, and I think it’s working. 

The album is full of hits, but of course it would be since SOMI has come out with successful singles since she debuted as a solo artist.  Since “Birthday” came out, it’s been hit after hit. Her songs are all contagious, and encapsulates the colorful persona she shows through her music.

“Anymore” was that track I immediately repeated when I finished listening to the song for the first time. This track reminds me of the early 2000′s rom coms I was obsessed with (still obsessed...let’s be real).  This would be the song to play during a montage of the leading lady thinking about her heart break as she drives down the highway with the windows down low.  I am aware that this song is fully in English, but maybe that’s the reason why rom com movies was the first thing I thought of? That’s just my brain though...anything related to the 2000′s brings my back to my teen years.

 I will always have a bias towards tracks that have the early 2000′s feel, so this was my favorite track of the album. The cherry on top is that it has that pop/rock element that completes the early 2000′s package.

If you have been in the fandom for a while, you know that Jimin is a trained dancer. If you are new, then behold, Park Jimin, a versatile mover.

As a contemporary dancer myself, my heart was pounding so fast when I discovered that “Black Swan” was going to have a performance video.  It was even better that Big Hit (well, now HYBE but you catch my drift) hired a professional group to perform to an orchestra version of the track.  The euphoria I experienced when that film came out is truly unexplainable, but at that moment I knew Big Hit was going to have a field day with their future “Black Swan” stages.  They have a wholeass Contemporary dancer in front of them! 

Their dance practices are intense, but I imagine that Jimin can’t fit a contemporary class in his already busy schedule (just a guess...).  The fact that he is able to still execute modern/contemporary movements never ceases to amaze me.  YES, he in shape. YES, he has been obviously dancing. But, modern and contemporary technique requires consistency and constant training.  Not consistently pointing your feet can really be painful, and leg extensions can lead to injury if you don’t do it properly.  His floor work is incredible, and his overall strength compliments his graceful flow. Not to mention, his body control and fluidity is evident when he executes any sort of choreography.  I would like to think that this comes from his Modern/Contemporary roots.  I know he did some street dancing too, and that’s another component as to why he is so versatile.

Yes, Jimin is pure art.  I can watch him dance forever.

Tumblr used to be my outlet for when I wanted to write about random things in my life, and for some reason I kind of miss that feeling. I have realized that I wanted to write about kpop, but for fun of course! I can talk about kpop for days, so why not right about my thoughts and feelings?
