I have results! Things are finally coming together. I'm actually looking forward to doing it all again next year for Honours, but for now it would just be nice to have this poster and report finished.

Well it's been a stressful couple of months, but today my samples are finally getting run through the mass spectrometer and by tomorrow I might actually have some results to show my supervisor!
Gosh, after this I can only imagine how hard Honours will be. At least I've had some practice now though.

So my partner and my friend teamed up and finally convinced me to get an instagram account.
My account is VegFem, if you wanted to find me. I might post there more than I do here, I'm still getting used to it though.

Lazy stroll down to the park to finish of a great weekend off. Although I probably should be doing some revision.

The view from our window in Melbourne. The Festival Statesmen went over there to compete in the inaugural National Aus-Aca Championships and had a bunch of fun watching all of the other great a-cappella groups from all around Australia.
The second photo is of Ormond Hall in Villiage Melbourne, where we performed. Here's our set:
Loch Lomond (Won Best Classical Song, Best Soloist - Matthew Lykos) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ls-Sq9e4Yx4
Army (Won Best Contemporary Song) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Hy-U6N-Sn8 We also took the awards for Best Large Ensemble and National A Cappella Champion for our division!
The final shot is from the plane ride back into Adelaide at dawn this-morning, following some night-time shots from the last couple of nights, and the post box at the top of Eureka Tower.

Some of the sights and meals from my trip to Melbourne this weekend, including the room I shared with my friend at Parkview Hotel, Federation Square, the amazing vegan buffet available at Gopal's Vegetarian, the complimentary pizza I ate in the streets after the restaurant completely failed to make my order in the ninety minutes we had to spare before we needed to walk to the theatre to catch Wicked and finally a couple of the burgers I found at Burger Edge and Lord of the Fries.

We hooked up the Wii last night and I made a Mii for the first time. It looked way too much like me, my girlfriend and I crack up laughing every time we see it!

A collection of photographs documenting the lab work mentioned in my pervious post. Looking for leaves in 6000 year old lake sediments. I'm learning so much and having a lot of fun.

I went outside! I haven't posted in a while, my girlfriend and I joined a gym nearly two weeks ago and so I've been spending a lot of time in there with her and one of our friends. When I'm not there I'm at uni either in class or working in the lab, so this field trip to Hallet Cove was a great chance to get out in the fresh air, and it was such a perfect day for it.

This semester I have a research project to do as part of the final coursework for my degree. It's made to lead in to post-graduate research, and I've managed to get a placement with the supervisor I wanted, the same one I had last year to research palaeoclimate data, and I'll be looking in to the type of thing which I spoke to my Climate Change lecturer about maybe doing for a project next year. It should be a lot of fun and a great pathway into that. Today I met with my supervisor to have a look through some journal articles that might be useful bringing me up to speed with the rest of her research group. Then the two of us met with some of that group to head out to Hindmarsh Square where my supervisor's brother-in-law had set up his mobile food stand/caravan, Tacocat, for lunch. I had some really nice vegan tacos and we all stood around talking about research and science, but also a great deal about every day things. It turned out that my supervisor's Husband and father-in-law were there as well some more of their family friends so we had a great time. After lunch I got sent down to the computer labs to photocopy a chapter out of an old textbook which is probably going to be quite useful, then it was up to the conference room to meet the rest of the research group and get to know each other while we had a bit of a talk about what everybody does and what their research goals are for the rest of the year. All in all it was a very inspiring day, and it's put me in a good mood to get this last semester done and move on to further study.

Just some of the spectacular views on my trip to Central Australia. Such incredible landscapes.
The first four were taken around Mt Boothby, the next five around Ormiston Gorge. The last one is of Glen Helen, where we were camped for the second week of the trip.
