I don't want to doompost and already add to the overwhelming sense of dread. However, it almost feels selfish not to.
It feels wrong to sit here and say "things are going to be okay, when I don't know that it will be? I don't know how things are going to progress from here on out and I worry that having too much hope is only going to fail not only me, but all of my friends and family who are afraid for their lives and their rights being taken away.
I'm terrified.

Let me tell you a little about Multiple sclerosis (MS). MS is an autoimmune disease, which means that the immune system starts attacking some part of the body. In the case of MS, the immune system attacks the central nervous system. If you didn't know, the central nervous system includes the brain and spinal cord, and as you can imagine, damage to that can have disastrous effects on your ability to function. Damage often happens in "attacks", and symptoms tend to get worse over time. The symptoms that damaging the central nervous system can result in are so numerous that it has its own wikipedia page (Signs and symptoms of multiple sclerosis), but to list a few that may occur: fatigue, difficulty walking, incontinence, blurred vision, cognitive impairment, depression, speech problems, hearing loss, tremors, and pain.
MS cannot be cured, but there are treatments that can prevent it from getting progressively worse, and reduce relapse rate. This is incredible news, except these treatments can be prohibitively expensive...
Now, I want you to imagine having to deal with something like MS while living in Gaza, and all that entails, for over a year now.
I want to tell you a little about Hala Daoud. Hala is in her 40s and has three children: 17 y/o Osama, 13 y/o Lana, and 9 y/o Mohammed. They are living in Gaza, with all that entails, and Hala has MS.
I'm sure you know, but the healthcare system in Gaza is all but destroyed. The only chance Hala has to get his treatment is to travel to Egypt, and then pay for the medicine all on her own. The medicine costs $12,000 for a single dose, and getting through the border is not cheap either. If she cannot do this, her health will continue to deteriorate and she will be left permanently disabled.
Her fudraiser was created all the way back in May, but she has only raised €2,274 out of her €17,000 goal
In the last ten days she has only had four donations. Please, do not let her be forgotten💔
She is on tumblr @halakamak

PayPal has shut down fundraising services as of October 7th, 2024.
The crowdfunding platform has updated their policy and stated the following:
My dear friends Iyad Sohbe (@iyadsobhegaza) and Ruba Abushaban (@rubashsblog) have been raising funds with PayPal soon after GFM have unjustly terminated their individual accounts. Iyad has lost 11K while Ruba has lost access to 27K!
With this "policy" in place, it is obvious that Palestinian fundraisers are being targeted as it is established on the one year anniversary of the accelerated genocide. So it is imperative that we help them achieve their goal of 60K USD before January 12th, 2025!
So please donate and share. Time is running out. We have 3 months to raise the entire amount!
At the same time, Iyad, Ruba, and their families have gone through so much. They were staying in Deir al-Balah, but the IOF drops multiple airstrikes, and they have narrowly escaped death and have relocated to Nuseirat. So they need to purchase basic necessities as they have lost their personal belongings. They also need to pay off the high transfer fees when they withdraw the funds from the bank.
You can even match me! I've given $10 USD, but you are more than welcome to give any amount. You can even give $1 since PayPal accepts such amount.
Verification: #90 for Ruba and #173 for Iyad. (Keep in mind that the fundraisers in the Spreadsheet has not been updated to reflect the current fundraiser. Click here to read more about it.)
Tagging for reach. Please leave a reply if you wish to be removed. Thank you. Free Palestine.

Have we become so desensitized to this scene, or have we lost our value entirely?
Today, I went out to secure some food for my family. I don't want to talk about the high prices or the severe shortage of food supplies.
But what truly breaks my heart is the bombing of civilians in a school in the Nuseirat area, where many martyrs fell, most of them children and women. How long will this situation continue?
How long will we keep waiting? We need a radical solution. We are running out of strength to endure this.

Don’t fucking look away from Rafah, don’t look away, if you are willfully looking away then you should be ashamed of yourself.
Fuck the Met Gala, it means nothing but a distraction for those of you who are willingly looking away.
The Palestinians need our attention, they need our support, they need us to witness and remember and help when it is asked for and when we can.
All Eyes on Rafah, All Eyes on Palestine!

They are invading Rafah
They have placed tanks at the Egyptian border. No one can escape and no aid can come in. 1.4 million civilians, many of whom are children, are trapped in a tiny area.
Don’t look away. Keep protesting, donating, raising awareness, and amplifying Palestinian voices.

So we all know that Tumblr is US-centric. But to what degree? (and can we skew the results of this poll by posting it at a time where they should be asleep?)
